On Itune Store, Google maps description clearly state

"Get voice guided, turn-by-turn driving directions." Source: https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/google-maps/id585027354?mt=8

but in real thing no voice whatsoever.



Waze is ok , a bit annoying at times with its notification and point collecting things.

Papago interface on Iphone 5 really like crap i m about to delete this.

Wonder if i should buy USD$29 sygic (SG and MY).

Did you lodge a complain/comment with iTunes/AppStore ?

You can turn off all the notifications. Waze is good since the traffic and road condition updates are quite accurate and smart enough to change route when heavy traffic is detected and found a faster route.

Interface for Garmin/Papago/Sygic/TomTom/etc. are all subjective, depending on each individual preference.

I'm using waze app. Plus, the good thing is that the app is totally free in AppStore

Waze is an easy to use app. At first I was frustrated with the app because their lack of waypoints. Now you can search foursquare waypoints, google results etc. Always use the result from Foursquare.

Voice is not available in our country, though we can't install Google Maps if we using Malaysia as country in AppStore.

I was just asking if there is google voice navigation for Malaysia for IOS (US Apps Store, Cydia and whatnot) like in Android phone (yes been using it for a year to navigate in Malaysia with Google Map without even to root the phone).

No please dont tell me to lodge report to apple or sell my iphone 5 or buy android phone if you dont know or dont have answer for that question. Changing Itunes store from MY to US and vice versa is simply toggle the country button in itunes. So no big deal.

Google maps for android phone also no voice navigation for malaysia. But there is a hack version in android that give u voice. Just use waze. I don't see how Google map navigation is better than waze.

Google Nav voice is also not available on Andoid phone in Malaysia.

Only the ones listed on their supported countries are able to do so.

Based on my ocassional use of GPS only for some unfamiliar shop names in Ipoh (at least for me), both Google Maps and Apple Maps are crap. The pins pointed locations that's far away from what they should have.

But at least both are still good at locating with street names, of which is still pretty usable.

Btw Sygic just got updated. Seems like adding some feature, mapping data is still much the same.

Yes. I use them both. The maps in Waze is more up to date. The traffic info only exist in Waze. And Google map doesn't come with voice navigator by default. And believe or not the search is better on waze. Coz waze not only uses Google to search, but also foursquares, Bing and it's own waze search. Foursquares is the best when it comes to location search.

Another smarties reply without reading my post properly. How many times i want to post that Google map voice navigation works in malaysia and ive been using it. The tweak available all over the net. Simpler than to jailbreak your iphone coz this one you dont even have to root your android phone.

So the reason why i chose google map for android phone last time becoz it worked with Google Voice just like Siri with Apple map.

Now since Google Voice is enabled in JB'ed Iphone, it will be nice if any tweaker in Cydia to apply the similar tweak to Google maps so we can use Google Voice to turn by turn voice navigation in Malaysia.

Zaid Erkurdi in Cydia has tweaked few Siri default services like play music from grooveshark instead of itunes, search local concert and event in malaysia for example. It will be good if he could tweak siri to find location and voice navigate using waze instead of Apple map. So everyone will be happy.
