QUOTE(hwa107 @ Sep 3 2012, 04:01 AM) Hi Guys, most common form factorsRecently I got a used CPU that I want to convert it into HTPC. First thing to do is to change the casing for the current one is quite old and dusty, oxidized. I think my current CPU setup is ATX sized, but the motherboard doesn't occupied the whole casing, so I guess I can go for a smaller casing. Anyway, may I know how what kind of form factor I can consider? I'm looking for a casing that's suitable for HTPC, small size and square in shape. Regarding the budget, I prefer to be less than RM200, I don't need any branded casing. Thanks in advance. Added on September 3, 2012, 4:07 amBy the way, how do I know what kind of form factor my motherboard belong to? ATX 305 × 244 mm mATX 244 x 244mm mITX 170 x 170mm Wikipedia |

QUOTE(Mr.Ben @ Sep 28 2012, 09:56 AM) LOL I used to think those plain cases are ugly when I started PC building. and I worshiped all those windowed, futuristic space ship styled cases =.=but today, I'd say that is called elegant and I just got myself a Silverstone TJ08-E. They're just worth it. |

temperature is rarely a concern for the chassis given that if the chassis is well ventilated. even a cap ayam case, if you put the fans in a correct way, the heat can be transferred out of the case also. The difference might be a few degree celcius
other factors are more important such as future expansion for HDD, tower/water cooling, mobo size, PSU size, SLI etc.. because once you start to consider these factors, you're already choosing a proper designed case with good air flow. QUOTE(dlwl @ Nov 1 2012, 05:53 PM) Hey guys, Exactly same situation as mine!!I"m considering changing to m-ATX sized casing, recently feel that my ATX casing now seems too big and bulky. Currently using Lancool K62, and thinking of moving to Silverstone TJ08-E. Got poisoned after reading reviews online and seeing some pics from the SFF thread here. Been weighing the pros and cons of both, cant seem to make a decision yet Thanks I switched from my K62 to TJ08-E, here's my opinion on TJ08-E compared to K62. Pros: - smaller and lighter!! shaves off 5KG of weight. (case alone) - much classy look with brushed aluminium front - more space at the back of the motherboard tray - 180mm intake fan with fan controller - USB3 - fun to build (priceless) Cons: - comes with only one 180mm fan (K62 has three 140mm and one 120mm fans) - mATX board selection is quite limited - less PCI/PCIe expansion slots - less space to work with - not tool-less design (keep your screwdrivers handy) - troublesome to install/remove graphics card (K62 has the best expansion slot lock mechanism) check out my thoughts and more pictars - http://www.johndiew.com/2012/10/silverstone-temjin-tj08-e/ _____________________________________________________________________________________________ *edit* This post has been edited by JohnDiew0107: Nov 1 2012, 10:45 PM |

QUOTE(noobfc @ Jan 1 2013, 07:57 AM) hey guys, wanna ask for me it depends on theafaik there are 3 type of casing the small one, medium tower and full tower casing now when building your rig, what are the things that make you choose between a medium tower and a full tower thanks - purpose (workstation, htpc) - hardware (mobo size, coolers, gc, hdd) - portability (fixed, portable) |

QUOTE(annas473 @ Jan 29 2013, 04:45 PM) will put under consideration lol, just remember to clean the heat sink as they are the one who dissipate the heat from the processors, altho the casing and cable management will help but it won't have big impact.ya i forgot to clean it. should clean it last on december 2012. not sure about the cost, rarely go to lowyat to look around, but i think the budget should not over rm500 hope got nice casing with that kind of criteria btw, Silverstone Raven RV03 around RM500 as well.. |

QUOTE(Clem1982 @ Aug 19 2013, 09:28 AM) Well no point looking at the other chassis if you have found what you liked, just keep in mind that there are no such thing as the perfect chassis for everyone so be happy with what you picked / bought +1 for this, and that's why people mod their chassis to their likingCool.... will need at least 4 picts of each rig if you don't mind? pm me the links |
