A fleet of black Cadillac Escalades hums outside Chelsea hot spot Avenue -- the A-list watering hole of such celebrities as Justin Timberlake and Lindsay Lohan.
As the car doors open, a dozen men emerge and a bouncer whisks them over the club's threshold, past a group of shivering models behind the velvet rope.
"Who is it?" one of them wonders out loud. "Is it P. Diddy?"
But the man at the center of the entourage isn't a celebrity. He isn't even a mogul. He's Taek Jho Low, a 20-something Wharton grad from Malaysia who has burned through hundreds of thousands of dollars at the city's hottest nightspots in the last three months -- and shows no signs of stopping.

MICHAEL TRAN/GETTY IMAGES
'J LOW': Taek Jho Low (with Usher) once helped run up a $160,000 tab at Avenue, flew a bevy of Pink Elephant waitresses to Malaysia, reportedly sent 23 bottles of Cristal to Lindsay Lohan at 1OAK and lives at the posh Park Imperial.

The nightlife scene is abuzz with tales of this international man of mystery -- who goes by the name Jho Low and whose chubby, bespectacled appearance hardly meets the image of a wealthy gadabout.
In September, during Fashion Week, sources said, Low helped rack up a $160,000 bar tab at Avenue, including several $900 bottles of Cristal champagne.
One month later, Lindsay Lohan was celebrating her 23rd birthday at downtown drinking den 1OAK when 23 bottles of Cristal suddenly appeared. They were reportedly paid for by a "mystery Malaysian," who, sources claim, was Low.
At chic 27th Street hangout Pink Elephant, Low routinely spends $50,000 to $60,000, according to the club's owner, David Sarner. One night, at the Pink Elephant outpost in Southampton, Low enjoyed himself so much that he kept the revelry going -- all the way to Malaysia, Sarner said.
"He ended up flying eight of our [waitresses] to Malaysia for a party," he added.
Strangely, for a man attracting so much attention, very little is known about Low.
According to his official biography, he currently serves as a group adviser of several international corporations and was appointed to the board of UBG Berhad, a financial-services group in Kuala Lumpur, last year.
But when The Post interviewed Malaysian experts at such think tank as the Council on Foreign Relations, no one had ever heard of Low.
According to inside sources, Low lives at a $100,000-a-month apartment in the Park Imperial, on West 56th Street, home to James Bond actor Daniel Craig and Sean "P. Diddy" Combs -- and he won't go anywhere, not even on the elevator, without at least one bodyguard.
Some of Low's entourage of eight to 12 people also reside in two other apartments at the Park Imperial -- a $30,000-a-month pad and a 2,200-square-foot loft with Central Park views that costs $20,000 a month, according to real-estate investor Michael Hirtenstein, who used to live in the latter.

A spokesperson for Marquee, which owns Avenue, confirmed Low helped rack up a $160,000 bill in September but added: "The tab was picked up by a friend of [Low's] from Kuwait."

That friend is international man about town Hamad Alwazzan, who also lives at the Park Imperial, according to an e-mail he sent to The Post.

In the e-mail, Alwazzan claims it is he, not Low, who's the big spender in town.p

"I have been on holiday in New York since August 2009 and grown quite fond of the city," Alwazzan wrote. "I am especially fond of investment opportunities in real estate, as well as the food, quality of life, and lifestyle."

As for the $160,000 bar tab, he wrote: "[It] was to celebrate the engagement of a close personal friend to his longtime girlfriend, which was jointly hosted by myself and 19 other close friends. I don't have an exact breakdown of the cost, but it was a mixture of entertainment, food and drinks -- and it happened to be during Fashion Week."

But while Low clearly prefers to stay under the radar, he is splurging at a rate that's getting noticed all over the city. According to an inside source, Low recently bought at least six exclusive memberships, for $300,000, at an upscale club in Midtown.

And just this month, sources said, Low celebrated his birthday at a lavish bash in Las Vegas -- where Megan Fox was reportedly flown in to party with him and his entourage. The actress' Fox's publicist could not be reached for comment yesterday.

at the rate he's burning thru money.. it's like couple million per week spent. doh.gif

Rumour is Jho very very close to Rosmah and Najib, and the brain behind Terengganu Investment Authority and 1 Malaysia Development Fund:

Saudi funds in 1Malaysia a boon to all Malaysians, says Najib

KUALA LUMPUR: A major economic milestone has been reached between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia with the setting-up of a joint-venture company with an investment capital of US$2.5bil (RM8.75bil).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the financial vehicle would promote and manage the flow of foreign direct investments from the Middle East and countries with surplus capital into high-impact projects in Malaysia.

All new: Najib at the launch of Tabung Haji's new logo at the corporation's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
The investment initiative would be jointly managed by 1Malaysia Development Bhd, which is wholly-owned by the Government and PetroSaudi International Limited, which is based in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

1Malaysia Development was established recently to drive strategic initiatives for long-term sustainable economic development and promote the flow of FDI into the country.

Najib said PetroSaudi would provide US$1.5bil (RM5.25bil) in funds while US$1bil (RM3.5bil) would be channelled from Malaysia, adding that the funding from Malaysia was sourced from the issuance of bonds.

“The money is already in place. It was confirmed by the Governor of the Central Bank yesterday (Tuesday),” he said.

Najib also said the money would be invested in and outside Malaysia.

Najib, who is also Finance Minister, said the investment would benefit Malaysia’s economic development in the long-term and would also create more investment opportunities here and overseas.

“This venture reflects the confidence of the Saudi Arabian government in Malaysia and in the bilateral relations between the two countries,” he told reporters after launching Lembaga Tabung Haji’s new corporate group logo of at the corporation’s headquarters here yesterday.

“Of course, the joint-venture programme will provide a lot of benefit to the Malaysian people,” The joint-venture programme will begin with investments in petroleum and oil and gas industries, renewable energy, real estate and other sectors.

Wonder how much commission Jho, Hamad and Riza shared to put this great deal together.

Rosmah must be real proud of Riza. So many Kuwaitis and Saudis now her friends. No wonder Saudi prince so generous:

PUTRAJAYA – Inspired by her husband’s principle of “people first” Rosmah Mansor gave away RM7mil to charity organizations nationwide, from money rewarded to her by a Saudi prince.

Among those who benefitted were 13 organisations which received a contribution of RM20,000 each on Friday.

They included the Ex-Servicemen's Association, the Girl Guides Association of Malaysia, Malaysian AIDS Council, Yayasan Harapan Kanak-Kanak Malaysia, Disabled Association of Malaysia, and the Association of Wives of Barisan Nasional Elected Representatives in each state.

Rosmah said US$1mil would be handed over to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia to carry out the Permata Smart School programme, while RM2.98mil would be kept in a Bakti special fund to help finance medical treatment for needy women and children with chronic diseases.

Found a precious box

She was “rewarded” after returning a precious box belonging to Prince Saud Al-Saud during a cruise trip with husband, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and their children in the south of France in August.

The prince, feeling grateful with the find and the box safely returned to him, wanted to reward Rosmah but she, instead, asked that the "reward" be given to Malaysians for their well-being.

"We had holidayed in the south of France at the invitation of a Kuwait prince, who is a good friend of my son Riza Shahriz.

“While packing at the end of our cruise, I noticed the box and gave it to the boat manager.

"I asked him to return the box safely to its owner (Prince Saud)," she told reporters after handing over part of the contributions Friday.

you guys should just stop spewing shit outta your asses. get your facts right before blaming others and jumping to conclusions. you bunch sound like a group of makciks in the kampung gossiping about their neighbouts.

taek jho is my personal childhood friend and a hardworking on at that. so ive seen him since he was in school. he doesnt need to explain to you where the money comes from or goes, because neither of you are shareholders nor his clients. he has a strong grip with investors and thats where the money comes from.

and if you so love to question his personal assets and expenditure, what makes you think this guy doesnt make money while working?
You think he's just gonna do everything for free? Obviously there's a commission or a mark up. You all must be a daft bunch to assume that he's spending "other ppl's money".

Dude, just get it in your small brains that some people are just born rich and with the right smarts and skills, they become EVEN RICHER.

If any of you can be a Wharton Graduate, pull in major billion dollar investors from the middle east and are clever enough to advise agong, and at the same time, be nonchalant and humble to your old friends from penang, then you're allowed to talk and criticize.
if not, then shut the hell up and be happy that this is a good success story.
Anonymous,  13 January 2010 15:56
oh and what do you smart asses know his expenses? bear in mind, The New York Post is a TABLOID. If you read and believe that, you might as well read and believe everything you do on HARIAN METRO. Oh wait, maybe you already do? hahahhaha

To the first person who commented, what's with the term "chinese boy" ? do you think the money will be better spent if an "indian boy" or god forbid, "a malay boy" ?

and to the last moron who commented before me, what makes you think his NYC bills (if true at all) came from your so called money?
you think he doesn't have any of his own izzit? are you stupid or what? try not to make your jealousy so obvious, it's very unbecoming of an adult and a shameful display of behaviour.

and the explanation "people dont spend that kinda money if its theirs" is flat out LAME.
that's YOU GUYS, because you probably don't even have anything close to that amount in your banks. I don't see American citizens complaining about their businessmen spending lotsa cash to entertain their clients? Of course it has to be f***ing malaysian morons with an even worse mentality to come up with shit like this.

instead of sitting around in front of the computer jacking off and searching for gossip to believe and attack on, you guys should all just get outta the house and make yourselves useful.

AJACCIO, France (AFP) - – American socialite Paris Hilton was briefly held by police on the French island of Corsica after being caught with cannabis in her handbag, according to police sources.

Hilton was detained after arriving at the airport in Figari on a private jet from Paris on Friday.

Police found less than a gram of cannabis in her handbag, and released her soon afterwards without charge.

According to Corse-Matin newspaper, Hilton was travelling on the private jet with "people close to power in Malaysia", and was due to travel by yacht to the luxury resort of Porto Cervo in Sardinia, Italy.

The incident is the American's second brush with the law this month.

The 29-year-old was arrested during the World Cup in South Africa after a friend she was with took a joint to the Brazil-Netherlands quarter-final match in Port Elizabeth.

A darling of the tabloids, Hilton, the great-granddaughter of the Hilton hotel chain's founder, shot to fame in 2003 when her boyfriend leaked a video of their sexual escapades on the Internet.

Always one to welcome the camera, Paris Hilton took part in a mini photo shoot on a boat in Paris, France today (July 15).

The 29-year-old heiress was wearing a bright pink dress with a large diamond snake bracelet, tights and high heels as she posed for a photographer on the water with the Eiffel tower as a background.

Paris was spending the day on the boat with her sister Nicky Hilton and Malaysian millionaire Taek Jho Low.

Low is somewhat of a mystery man who has been spending a massive amount of cash at clubs around the world and is rumoured to be an adviser to some international corporations and then appointed to the board of Malaysian bank UBG Berhad last year.

Kids born into affluent family have an advatage in terms of connections with other affluent families... And if they are smart and street wise, they can easily make millions using these links. Use money to make more money..

Even an auntie in S'pore working as a real estate agent can make SGD100k just by selling a SGD10million property (1% commission). So what's more for him being an adviser/consultant for a multibillion Middle Eastern investment portfolio. If he can make 1 billion for the investment company, even with just 1% commission, that's 10million... And with 10 millions, 1 round at the stock market will make another 2-3 millions... This is the reality of a capitalist world. So dont be a katak bawah tempurung and hate him.. hahaha... Unless you want to be in a communist country where everyone is equally rich/poor (depending whether your glass is half full or half empty)....

There are actually a lot of rich ppl splashing money even locally just that they don't appear on the radar...

BTW, during the stock market bull runs. The remisier's commissions were astronomical figures. Places like Ah Yat Abalone are filled with these rich remisiers during lunch time... Too bad, those good times didn't last very long...

Well, definitely not in KLSE where the volume is low compared to bourses like NYWJ or Spore.... And when you're mingling within high level business circle, insider info isn't hard to come by.. But of cos, 2-3 million is a bit of an exaggeration to drive the point that these ppl played on a different level of games compared to us street level ppl... Even street level ppl have great disparity, one may earn 3K a month having a drink with someone earning 30K a month..

Do you know what is a company director? If you own say 20% of a company's share then you are a director already. If you are too busy doing other stuff then you hire/appoint someone to take care of your interest there.

A: I took a semester off when I was in Wharton to start an investment company called The Wynton Group. It had an initial capital of US$25mil (RM79.8mil) mainly provided by my family and close Middle Eastern and South-East Asian friends.

A: I started with the relationships I built during the days I spent in London, particularly with good friends in Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia. I see a lot of opportunities for Malaysians, especially in the Middle East, just purely because there is so much liquidity and capital and vice versa from Middle East to Malaysia, which is where my interest is.

Ultimately, I am Malaysian. I am one who does not forget my country and I think there is a lot we can do for Malaysia. But when you build the trust of investors, you need to deliver what you promised.

Hidden message?

He's telling the public to meet up with middle eastern businessmen and do business with them?

How this guy made it to the front page of our newspapers?
That's the magic in hidden messages.

Again the Chinese don't buy such ideas.
