Advise for all possible Dell U2410 buyer, try to avoid this monitor at all cost!!!

The monitor come with a manufacturer defect of Pink/Green Tint issue, and the solution provided by Dell was "Within Spec" and "Show me a 24" EIZO for $529 and lets compare." By Dell.

You can look into the matter here:
http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19302919.aspx
and here:
http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/1929...spx?PageIndex=6

Im one of the victim, and im currently promoting their crime.

Just a remind from previous thread to avoid additional unhappy customer increases~ cool2.gif

Quick google suggests it's a hardware issue affecting some monitors using LG IPS screens.

Tried setting a white screen, raised contrast to max, doesn't seem like anything to me. Any other way to test the tint issue?

Not all monitor have that tinting problem. If yours is free from that, than congrat. No need to go find that problem yourself~  biggrin.gif The tinting issue is obvious in white background, and damn obvious in a light grey background. Contrast level 50 edi can see the different~ smile.gif ofcos, more high more significant. you can use "paint" to do the test. just chose the light grey color beside white.

Light grey? Hmm... I ran all my tests in pure white and didn't find a thing. Will check this up later.

yup~light grey color is most obvious for tint issue. And remember, dont set your contrast too low. Im at level 50~ smile.gif

actually for warranty..there is possible for you to get a new unit~ smile.gif  i got a new unit for my 3rd replacement without showing my anger.  smile.gif
yes, dithering issue is also 1 of the problem of U2410.  smile.gif  you all can test it here: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php
u will see the different between srgb/adobe rgb and other mode~

OK I checked out my screens. Tried several shades of grey, all appeared grey on max brightness and contrast.

Then I went to Dell's community forum and yawn.gif the Reply/delicious/digg bar appears a very light pink.

Using that colour, I created an image, filled that colour and displayed fullscreen. No green. Just a light pink same shade across the entire screen. Also, it only seems to affect it at 80++ contrast level. I'm using much lower than that, so I guess I won't bother risking getting a crap refurbished unit for something I won't notice 99.9999% of the time (unlike the dithering issue)

I see. That's the only issue I have with my monitor anyway. Can you get a fix for the monitor in Bolehland without sending in the monitor to Dell?

hmmm..i just heard about the releasing of Rev A01 for U2410 in the dell monitor forum. Anyone dare try out? tongue.gif
I maybe will wait for another few month be4 i get my exchange and stated i want A01~ biggrin.gif

And based on the dell support, now they are having a mix stock of both A00 and A01~ so.. Dell Lottery begins again~ tongue.gif

I heard you can call Dell to flash a firmware update at your place according to a Malaysian poster at HardOCP's U2410 thread. Is the new revision just a firmware update.

lol..that malaysian is me... biggrin.gif i think they sent that person to me because i make the complaint until their south east asia manager level~ blush.gif

The firmware update is a fix for the dithering problem. Where i strongly believe it is also included in the new revision. but than...the main problem of my unit is the pink/green tint issue. So i dont wish to risk anymore in revision A00 since it is a problem of panel defect. The firmware doesnt fix the pink/green tint issue, but i will give it a chance in the new revision of monitor since my unit is under warranty. smile.gif

And according to Dell forum...those who got the new revision doesnt have pink/green tint issue and dithering problem.. but..not many people got this new revision..so i still waiting for more confirmation.
