Hello to all sifu's, I too need to get an LCD monitor but after reading the threads i still cant narrow down the models cause I'm looking for a particular spec to fit my energy efficient yet performance optimized rig hope i can get some icon_question.gif & suggested models based on the requirement:

Priority highest on top then to bottom:

a. size of monitor 23'' - 27'' (the bigger the better)drool.gif

b. led + energy efficient (hopefully lowest possible consumption without losing image/contrast quality) flex.gif

c. high contrast ratio and response time

d. Price < RM800 blush.gif

e. brand

f. miscellaneous features and design sweat.gif

Please enlighten me if there is other things i need to consider regarding the energy efficient matter. For the price I'm actually flexible with it as long its reasonable.

Acer S243HL review by Digital Versus (Link)
I'd recommend a Samsung XL2370, though that's a little over your budget.

QUOTE(igor87 @ Mar 21 2010, 10:14 PM)
The reverse ghosting on the AOC 2434Pw is pretty severe, just about anyone can notice it. That's what you get if you force a sub-par panel to 2ms through overdrive. The Dell G2410 and ST2410's aren't as bad, but is still noticeable if you really for look for it.

For around RM800 you can look for a Samsung P2450h (if there are any stock left), or the newer B2430 (5ms, but should still be better than 'artificial' 2ms monitors). If energy efficiency is a priority for you though, then you'll have to fork out the extra cash for the XL2370.
*
Big thx for pointing the direction, didnt know about XL2370 though & will look into it. Thx again notworthy.gif

P.S: by the way igor87 what do you mean by 'artificial' 2ms monitor?

Just want to share about my power consumption little research, here is a link to the chart of monitor with their rated power consumption blush.gif it might not have all the monitor but at least those who have one can know their displays power consumption nod.gif

This link says LED displays generally have better power consumption and better color accuracy so wink.gif any one knows any list of monitor out there that are LED based (any brand)

LED backlight or OLED display? blink.gif

LED backlight i think is more available compared to OLED cause OLED expensive to manufacture. Hence its LED backlight. wink.gif

went to check ST2410 and the price drop to 679 from 699 liao. time to order liao!! =D
*
Sweet i think I made my mind and going to get this.. nod.gif

On my review side:
Pro:
It only uses 2 CCFL lamps rather than the standard 4 (saves energy)
Brightness at 250 cd/m2 near 300(no big issues)
1920x1080 and not 1920x1200 ideal for gaming
REALLY WIDE feeling!.. laugh.gif
The rest of the detail go check here

Cons:
1 year warranty correct me if I'm wrong blush.gif

I think its worth the price for a 24 incher without many gizmozzz ... anyone else have any comments be glad to hear from you all.

usually u no need to expect new model, they gives hot offers for old model to clear their 2009 stock sounds more reasonable.

As for special promos, there is a chance from bigger brand as they usually have lucky draws or something like that. Some even have 'sure-win' kind of lucky draw.

Anyhow, you should be able to get free gifts by PIKOM themselves especially when u fork out quite big amount for you monitor.
*
Thx for the insight, really all this available panel make's it so hard to decide then after u purchased it there they come all sort of reviews that condemn it vmad.gif =.=

talking about dell ST2410, how is the performance? i was thinking of getting the monitor with the extra belkin HDMI cable which is RM98. do you guys think its worth it? by using HMDI, does it improve the quality significantly?
*
About the DVI cable's last time i bought 2 types of DVI - VGA converter and both didn't work for my office PC as there was no display.. then i went back to the shop i told the owner, he instead took out the one in his display set and gave it to me. Lol it really worked sweat.gif . Then i noticed all three had different number of pins attached/poking out but all are same shaped (i mean the pin sequence are identical)... so will this be a problem if i get a non dell DVI to HDMI cable ? blink.gif

but will there be any significant difference if i use VGA and HDMI? btw, im using this monitor on my dell studio laptop smile.gif
hmm.gif so you are trying to say that i should get dell's HDMI cable instead?

anyway, im still confuse why one should use HDMI cable. i googled and it seems that the quality will be better but is this true?
*
actually im as confuse as you and i really dont want to get the dell cable cause its really expensive... im getting DVI cause i dont need the audio part from HDMI but not really sure will it make any difference though.. unsure.gif but the VGA i know is it has limitation for higher display resolution 1920*1080 is the max i think(even this is straineous edi)... beyond that better opt for DVI or HDMI

yes it should be around there. dell offer, belkin HDMI at RM89 and bundle DVI & HDMI at RM98. so i assume DVI is RM9 smile.gif
hmm... yes i know if it from shops like lyp it should be cheaper but im staying in klang and im always busy with work. so it wont be convenient for me to go all the way up for cables. lol

anyway, why is DVI cable more expensive than HDMI? typo perhaps?
*
The other was shorter that's why less expensive.. wink.gif

I need to ask something, i went to low yat today to check up some monitors again but i can't find any Dell resellers who have the Dell ST2410 up for display cry.gif and i really need to know which has better image quality for final decision icon_question.gif

1) Samsung 23'' P2370H
2) Samsung 23'' B2330H
3) Dell ST2410

I understand this thing are personal and differs individually but when i compared to P2370H to B2330H i found that P2370H seems clear and has a nicer color tone but was almost indistinguishable rclxub.gif but need to know how it will differ to Dell ST2410. Maybe someone with similar opinion could help out or owners of ST2410 got something to share?

@ScarLight
dell monitors are almost exclusively from dell.....some shops do carry dell monitors...but very limited models and stock.

ive never seen the 2 samsungs u mentioned...but if i were to go on blind faith....id go with dell for 2 reasons... 1) extra 1inch and 2) known good after sales support and warranty service.
*
Thanks dude good answer. I saw the samsung model in All IT. But how did owners of ST2410 made their decision rclxub.gif without a preview shocking.gif ironically its kinda blind faith as well blink.gif

Hi guys, just wondering how much does a DVI-HDMI cable cost in the market nowadays? I'm planning to get the Dell ST2410 but i'm not sure whether to get the cable or not. It is RM98 from the Dell Online Store. So, should i get it from Dell or buy it myself?

Oh ya, one more thing, is the V313 All In One Printer that comes along with it worth getting? How does it work actually? Do i just add another RM50 for the printer? Sounds like a too good deal to me that it makes me feels suspicious.

Sorry for all the somehow 'noobish' questions, first time getting a LCD monitor here.  tongue.gif

Here is a heaven and earth cool2.gif comparison link for you guys confused wanna get a expensive or a decent a cheap HDMI cables for your lovely monitor. Hope it clears many speculations out there. icon_rolleyes.gif
