Hello everyone, I'm from Kota Kinabalu, I'm looking for a music education school? Anyone know where got? I want to get music certificate and so on.

I reckon its more than certs that make u a musician..

De Notes in damai has awesome teachers i heard, I've seen them play together and it was awesome. Tel: 088-53 8951 guitar, keyboard, vocals, sax, bass, and some others i cant remember.

The rock school? Dont have the phone number for them, look up yellow pages.

virtouso music is at lintas square for violin.

And music mart. really dont know how good they are though, heard negative things..

rock school is part of musicmart.

too common la for u to say u want to be a musician, a guy playing cowbell pun can say a musician too eh.

if ur still in high school, might as well join some marching or even concert band.

i've already registered on Yamaha school at citymall. RM86 per month? 1 lesson 30minutes. friends say there's good

now i'm looking for a piano, which is a little problem.. dont know where still got shop sell pianos that near or around lintas. anyone know? please suggest ^^

there is one shop in inanam by road side, one in giant kolombong, 1 music shop in karamunsing(hollywood), 1 in KK city near the shell station there one in kampung air

i dunno if the price there are okay cos never purchase piano, i may get keyboard with sensitive touch keys instead for beginner

yea my school have sell pianos and all also pricey *i think*... currently my choices is the Yamaha JX113T PE and the reconditioned Yamaha U3H which is almost 30 years old? JX113T RM14k and the reconditioned U3H RM9.5k.. getting me so confuse

u can go for abrsm, or aus guild
if u pass the grade 5 (both prac and theory) and a SPM, then u can apply into UMS, sekolah pendidikan seni to pursue ur degree in MUSIC~
if not (i mean if u don't have spm), u can go on to gd6, 7, 8 and get a diplom in music performances under GUILD, TRINITY, TRINITY ROCK SCHOOL, ABRSM or LCM~
(warn u, it's the exam fee is not cheap... diplom can up to thousand, but if u go to UMS, u can apply PTPTN)

to TS, legato near taman fortuna can be a good place to start. they really ambil berat with ur learning there. instead of some music schools who just suck up ur money

Yamaha only classical. you better go de notes. I think they do exams to. Rock school and music mart lots of negatives. Don't go.

its a no-no from me if its rock school or music mart. i think denotes is decent.plus ive heard that theyre more into jazz.

So which would be a good music school in Kota Kinabalu for a Form 1 boy to learn guitar?

I went to Rock School to ask... RM200 per month if Im not mistaken. OUCH.

Soundspace in citymall. Look for a teacher call Teddy Chin.

Or in Damai there is one where Roger Wang (one of Asia best fingerstyle guiatrist) studio. The teacher name, iinm, is Daniel, Roger Wang's tutelage.

I am interested in learning piano. Is concept music center good? Or should I go city mall Yamaha? Any other place recommended?
