I'm looking forward to fit bodykit in my new car. But being told, there are two different type of bodykit grade. One is ABS and another is PU. Which one better? Any car modder can confirm this or share your experience? Thanks.

QUOTE(mockv1per @ Nov 7 2009, 11:26 PM) The comparison chart is about Fiber vs PU, not ABS vs PU.Personally I feel that ABS is much better. If I'm not mistaken, it is expensive than fiber and PU, it has better look when apply paint on it, smooth surface, unlike PU. Nowadays most of the car bumpers are made by ABS, correct me if I'm wrong. |

For what i head from acc shop tauke (dont tembak me)
ABS is more expensive than PU is because ABS have light weight compare to PU. Some PU is heavy till 3M double tape also can;t hold it need screw it/lock it to prevent the skirt Fall down Not sure abt Other con and pro, this what i know. BTW last time i got saw yellow color one i not sure what material is it (ppl tell is rubber + fiber) The tauke show us can throw on the floor and berpulit-pulit also no break O.o |

PU can bend, therefore good if used as skirting...
if u planning to custom a bumper out of it, use FRP... fiber reinforced plastic... PU is soft and flexible, hence wont disintegrate when accident... but imagine ur bumper flapping around at high speed.. lolz... |

Basically, i'm looking forward to Vios 07 bodykit. But not sure whether PU is better or ABS or FRP. Since PU is too heavy then why Toyota TRD Sportivo is using PU rather than ABS? As I know, only the spoiler is ABS while the rest of the skirting is using PU. But the cons of PU is colour tone uneven during hot sun. Although ABS is strong plastics type and paint wise look better than PU but still it will break when hit hard.
Please help to judge here. Thanks. Any comments? This post has been edited by beloved: Nov 9 2009, 01:31 PM |

ABS is the way to go....
PU is heavy and will spoil your car bumper clip... |

Thanks. of cos abs ler. better. same material as your bumper.. the mould for that can cost millions, of coz ppl to make after market ones can't invest in those.. hence use PU ler.. |
