Regarding to AKU JANJI issue

Recently just have a look on my friend contract, they called it AKU JANJI. It is a contract between the participant and the state government, i guess. I have doubt about the contract, whelther it is legal contract according to the labor law.

Currently one of my good friend XXX[beside me tongue.gif ] is suffering from this program and plan to XXX from it.
Main reason: No money to survive and struggling for life (just only rm1000 allow. per month).

Hopefully, Every "Senior" from those Training centre can kindly share your opinion here based on experience.

2) What do you think for this INSEP program?
mix feeling, benefit, helpful or digusting......etc.

3) During OJT,
how the respective company treat/train you? like a trainee OR engineer?
what make you sad?
what make you most impressive about the company?

4) Any classmates quit during or after OJT? Anything happen to those "contract breaker"? Is it necessary to gv a offer letter before you quit?

Contract is definaely legal. Above 18, signed with a witness, booya! Legal.

But I don't find anything wrong with signing the contract. First, they give you free education. Second, they find a job for you. Third, they pay you every month to study. When I was in college, it's not free, I'm on my own to get a job and I paid over thousands.

I don't see why the RM500 thingy is not enough. Remember, this is an allowance, not a salary. Unless you are making huge bucks for the company, then you can demand a salary.

The OJT thingy is optional. After the course, you can go for an OJT which gives you very low salary. I did not take the OJT path, so I don't really know what's the job scope. But according to my friend, it's very simple and they offered a high salary after the OJT. If the OJT is not to your liking, you can always get a job (provided that you've completed the INSEP course). For me, I applied as a permanent worker and got hired. I don't have to go through the entire OJT process since it's a permament employment contract.

Whether the training is worth it or not? Well ... you need to ask yourself. For the one I took, SHRDC spent alot of effort in getting the best equipment and tutors. Some of them are even qualified experts from Australia. When all resources are laid infront of you, it's up to you yourself to benefit from it. There are some who slacked off in class. They ended up learning nothing. If you work hard enough, you'll learn alot from here. These are all actual industrial stuff, not some kinky theories from college. At one time, we even laid the entire classroom with Cisco devices.

To be fair, there are some subjects which irritates me. Before the actual course, you need to go through something called 'softskills'. Here, they train you on teamwork and communications. As I've previously worked in the computer industry, I find it very cheesey. It's like Michael Bay (the Transformers director) watching a Japanese Ultraman show.

There's a final project you need to go through. If you can nail it perfectly, the world will be waiting for you.

Pkh, really thank to your adv. But i don't see why the RM500 thingy is enough for your life shocking.gif . Definitely it is allowance, if it is salary then you better go for a part time job icon_rolleyes.gif . Regarding to ....."Unless you are making huge bucks for the company, then you can demand a salary." May i know how much you make for the company before they started to pay you???
######By the way, it is great to know that OJT thingy is optional.

Whoopsi. The phrase "unless you make big bucks for the company, then you can demand a salary" is just a figure of speech. During OJT, you don't need to hit certain quota or sales target before they pay you actual salary. The phrase simply means that when you are in the INSEP course or OJT, they give you such a low pay because you are not part of the organization's blood. You are there just to get experience and training. That's why they don't pay you much. Just like if you own a company, if you know someone who is here just to learn for a few months and has an uncertain future with the company, you won't pay him much.

Again, as I mentioned, once you've completed OJT with the company, they can have the option to sign you as a permanent employee. THEN you can demand for a salary. Oh, by the way, OJT works this way - you still get RM500 from INSEP plus another allowance from the OJT company. It's not much. Highest I've heard is RM1000. So, RM1000 + RM500 = RM1500. Lowest I've heard of is RM300.

Joining INSEP is not so simple. It's simple to get in but they need to get a certain number of students before they can start the course. I won't comment too much on that right now.

For my understanding, Diploma holder, go ahead. it is good for you and brighter your future. For Degree holder, please think fourth but not twice before you sign it.

Diploma? I went to SHRDC in Selangor and they accept only:
- Degree holder
- Currently unemployed
- Aged 28 and below

I was previously employed for 3 years before I joined. I actually applied for fun since it's free and I'm financially stable.

You better choose no. 2. I went there (SHRDC) 2 years ago (attached with Scope) and I befriend with trainee from Technip. They paid are quite low, and the piping design is just using autocad only.

Yup, you can apply it as long as u will graduate in this year. If u next yr graduate then u will hav to wait till next yr. Currently INSEP ERP-SAP in Penang still got insufficient candidates to join, you can apply it if u fulfill the requirement. biggrin.gif

To those who are interested to join INSEP SCD, you can send resume to them.
The training class will start once there are 12 ppl
Don't miss this intake, else you'll have to wait for next intake (i.e. next year).

For the one that I applied, they req
• Minimum CGPA of 2.8 and above
• Malaysian with Degree in Engineering Electrical/Electronics/Microelectronics/Physics.

related degree is one of the factor. They probably look for those with relevant background, as they want to make sure that v learned the basic/foundation before, so that v able to cope with it in the INSEP Training later. Therefore, if u dont hav relevant degree, but ur FYP has a little bit related to the program u applied, put it in the Resume. Unluckily, if ur FYP not related, then u can put other experiences which is relevant, for example internship or external course, etc......

Besides, they would also like to know whether the program that v apply is our interest. Hence, u need to show your passion and enthusiasm.
How to write it in Resume? ask Mr. Google, books, articles, ref, etc......

and I guess it depends on which INSEP Program u apply
if many people apply, the chance to get interview is low... and vice versa
(so try to search for those less people apply one, in order to get the interview chance)

Also, because INSEP is mainly for fresh/unemployed graduate,
so if u r not recent grad, u r consider as overqualified.

for SAP ERP course, they are having one KL also, but is offered by HCL-Axon as training partner

SAP training are done in Menara Antarabangsa, soft skills training are done in Phileo Damansara

they even sponsor ur exam fee, but be reminded that the exam is NOT easy to pass at all.

I was from the batch INSEP SCD 2006 under SHRDC. The programme was jointly venture with Infineon Technologies at Kulim, Kedah. (IFKM)

Requirement: <CGPA 2.8
Unemployed/fresh grad.
Allowance: Rm500 from SHRDC, Rm500 from IFKM.
Training duration: 12mths (6mths theory course, 6mths OJT at IFKM).

During the 1st 6 months theory course, the final month SHRDC sent my batch to UniMAP (University Malaysia Perlis) for hands on approach on the microelectronic wafer fabrication process.

Later on, during OJT, within the first 3 months, I got absorbed into IFKM as an engineer.

So, in conclusion, INSEP program is a great program to expose the trainees on the industrial skills. You will learn those skills that will be applied specifically in an industry.

If let's say you don't get absorbed in the company that you are doing OJT, don't fret; use the INSEP cert that you obtain to get interview in another company. That INSEP cert is VERY VALUABLE so don't underestimate it. wink.gif

Just my opinion.

The one that I joined was the Analog design, but not IC design. It's more towards wafer fabrication course.

Last time my batch was around 18 trainees, so no problem with the quota. Started to apply around August 06, then received call for interview around 2 weeks after that, then in September 06 started the program already.

Hmm..if you ask me, while waiting for 1 month, maybe you want to find interview elsewhere? Just as backup plan.

hye... i want to ask on behalf my fren... he enroll into INSEP in institution A. then suddenly he feels like changing to another INSEP module provided by another institution B. He plan to quit the program to go for the other program cuz he much prefer the other module. FYI the class has begun for around 1 week edi... but he has not sign any contract yet.

the quetion is... can he quit the program just like that? ....since no contract has been sign yet ..
and can he enroll again in the INSEP program provided by institution B? ..cuz what i heard that we cant enroll into INSEP program more than once...so maybe they wont give him chance since his name maybe already in their database right?

do you mean that you have been offered a job?
if that so..if i were you, i would go for the job...it gives you real working experience+better pay..
you dont need this program at all..however if you are really interested in the path to become an "Industrial Automation Engineering"...then i would say go for the program..

its just my humble opinion though..its up to you to decide

thanks.
i was offered a job, but i rejected it because it's totally different from my field.
but am getting another job, just got interviewed and confident will get the job, but still, the job has nothing to do with my field of study
i was studying manufacturing engineering so i'm all about design and production stuff, and i was offered service and application engineer, which can also be called "after-sales" engineer. any comments and thoughts?

thanks again

so, it all depends on the program and the sponsor itself? so i should ask this during the interview yea?

i got these information below, from the shrdc website..so i guess the program is very related to you majoring.

if i were in your shoe, i will consider a few things before i make my decision.....
e.g: am i in very need for money now? if the answer is yes..then i would choose working....
or what career path i see myself in the future? & what type of industries i would want to venture later on?...

This is a few advice if u are confuse whether to choose or not.

u are to compete with almost 10thousand grads to get 5thousand jobs..
INSEP take participants who are not ready yet to go to industry..if you are value to industry now, they wont take u..make value urself with INSEP..

1) Where you come from?
year: July 09 - January 10
courses: Occupational Safety & Health
company attached: Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Company Sdn. Bhd.
No. of classmate: 28
Duration: 1 month of team building + soft skill enhancement, 3 months of lectures, 3 months of OJT
Allow.: rm500 per months from start to end of program, earn another additional rm500 during OJT (depend on the company to give this. one of my friend got rm1k during OJT)

2) What do you think for this INSEP program?
IMO, the team building session improve a lot of my qualities. The courses is also very good and they emphasize on practical approach. The only thing I don't like is the event organizing. There is no freedom in doing it. If this is the case, better remove it from the program!

3) During OJT,
All my classmate been treated superbly during OJT. From 28 classmates, 4 got absorbed into the rganization

4) Any classmates quit during or after OJT?
My INSEP batch is 120 student. Got 6 student who quit half-way and I don't heard they been penalized or what so ever..

I'm suddenly interested to join INSEP in SHRDC (Selangor) under the ICT security. I've seen there's CCNA 1 - CCNA 4 module inside there, does it include professional certification examination or just training?

thanks nod.gif

Our conversation refers.

For your info. we run our INSEP ICT programs under INSEP GAP. Whereby the companies select the candidates and send to SHRDC for training.

You may want to contact these companies because they work with us continuously for their apprentice program.

  1. Dell Global Business Centre
  2. iTAC
  3. SCOPE International (Standard Chartered)

Please contact them accordingly.

Thank you.

Demm .. no fund already liao?

anyway, if you got a free time. You may apply for GEMS (Graduate Employability Management Scheme) conduct by the government. According to one of the ex-students there during MARA education fair.

They would teach you soft skills for around 2~3 month. And later you'll be an intern in selected companies for 3-4 month. Got allowance too.

Live in hotel, day activity during office hour but sometimes got activity at night too. You also will need to attend the activity on the weekend. According to her, it's a fun activity especially when it comes to team building.

I'm currently doing my master and my class at night, so hard to join. And hell no, my weekend is my free time or time to do assignment.

So, have a fun yo .. tongue.gif~

does anyone here been to SHRDC Technip interview before? or anyone who is currently OJT with technip?

How was it? Is the program good/beneficial? will technip absorbed you guys once the OJT finished? Mind sharing what they asked during the interview? What kind of questions they asked during the technical written test? Is it worth it to live with cheap pay for almost 8 months?

I know there are lots of questions. But I will appreciate for any reply. icon_question.gif

Was in the SHRDC INSEP course for ICT Security few years back. Eventhough I took a slightly different path, some of the OJT stuff and info might be the same.

For OJT, some companies will actually hire you full time after the OJT. I had a friend who did OJT in a company with low salary. After OJT, high salary. I can't remember how high the salary is, but it's darn high for someone who does not have industrial experience.

As for the interview, it's more or less like a common job interview. To me, it's less much easier coz' the company already expects a non-experienced person.

OJT is not a must. For my case, I was immediately hired as full time. So, I skipped OJT process.

You can PM me for more info if you want.

thanks for the info pkh. some company might hire immediately. but for this program they already stated that there will be 8 months of ojt.

i'm just nervous about the technical writing test as now i almost forgot about everything i'd learned before. my current job doesnt require me to use any maths or ME subjects i learned before. so if i can get a hint of what they might ask, then i can focus on certain aspects instead of try to refresh everything.

Huh? Technical writing test? I couldn't recall having any technical writing test. Here's what I experienced in order:

- Went for 'interview' with SHRDC. Received call after 2 hours to join INSEP ICT Security
- Briefing on ground rules and signing of contract with government
- First subject a waste of time. Intro to computers and desktop OS
- Have other subjects like English, bootcamp and report writing which is a waste of time to me. Might be useful for others
- After a month of wasting time, came the core subjects
- Started with Windows and Linux servers. More towards administrative controls and enabling web service
- Exam for these topics. Practical ones
- Then comes CCNA 1 - 4. Very useful. Far better than the ones you paid in private classes
- Practical and paper exams for CCNA 1 - 4
- CCNA finish, then comes VOIP (Cisco call manager) and network security (Cisco firewall and hacking)
- Lastly, there's a final group project for all the core topics. Eg: Set up a network with firewall, VOIP and web server. Then do demo and presentation

Towards the end, many companies will drop by to look for interns (OJT). For those who managed to get permanent employment on the spot, no need OJT. But still need to wait few months to get the cert coz' other students have OJT. For those doing OJT, there's something like a daily report. You need to write down what you have done during the OJT period into a log book. At the end, the company will sign the log book. No such thing required for those who get permanent emloyment.

why can't anyone do something about it???
don't know what they are doing ---> the so called "excellent training centre"
earn money by cutting trainees' allowances and getting government funds, then simply conduct the training

i'm totally fed up with them......

I guess 'Eng' would be the English course. Yes, you have to complete it. The first few weeks is torture because apart from the Eng course, you have other weird softskill stuff. Once you start the core stuff, then it gets fun.

At one time, we even laid the entire classroom with Cisco devices.

to those who are thinking to join any INSEP programme, just try and apply. if in the meantime you are not doing anything or unemployed or even does not satisfied with your current job, this is an OPPORTUNITY.
myself enrolled in safety and health officer course in johor skills development centre, after 1 year plus working. after attend, instead of valuable knowledge and skills, i am now in comfortable zone, with enough salary to live smile.gif
Good luck and be thankful in what you have smile.gif
