QUOTE(Hevrn @ Nov 8 2009, 07:43 PM) Haha, do you guys honestly believe a player earning approx 60k a week would go around in a Korean made car? Asians love riding around in style. Anyways, the battle in midfield tonight would be key. We've got to match them man for man, and the threat of Drogba will be obvious, but I'm putting in Anelka as the man to watch. Slippery fecker. Anelka's a big threat too. He's got very good control which is why he used to play wing a lot. Just hope that our defence will do a great job. It's time for irishman evans what he's capable off |

I think we have done real good today. We were missing berbatov, obviously. Carrick showing he still plays an important role in our team, fletcher roaming all over the pitch..Nothing much from anderson tho..
I'm excited with obertan, and i hope to see him and owen getting more games Our defenders were great, Evans+Brown were awesome. |

QUOTE Manchester United Edwin Van Der Sar - 6.5 Had a good game overall, showing why he is United's number one. Jonathan Evans - 6 Held up well against the strength of Drogba, but his role in the Chelsea goal will certainly come under scrutiny. Wes Brown - 6 Stood up to the wiles of Anelka, but again, he too will be held culpable for the Chelsea goal. Patrice Evra - 5 Blew hot and cold throughout the match, with a few blinding runs and some mediocre passes. John O'Shea - Was largely anonymous through the game. Antonio Valencia - 6 Linked up well with Rooney on a few ocassions. Has still not replicated his breathtaking performances with Wigan that caught Alex Ferguson's eye. Michael Carrick - 6.5 Combined well with Fletcher to come out just ahead in the midfield battle. Tried too many ambitious shots from far out when a pass to the forward men would have been better. Anderson (off 85') - 6 Full of vim and vigour in the first half but is still to convince many that he has what it takes to stay at United. Darren Fletcher - 7 Had a good game, considering that he was up against Essien. Ryan Giggs (off 85') - 6 The veteran was dangerous as always with one audacious attempt to chip Cech standing out. Was not on the same wavelength with Rooney today though, and that hurt United. Wayne Rooney - 7.5 Gave it his all and still fell short. Had umpteen attempts at goal but just could not find a way past Cech on the night. Will be gutted. Substitues Gabriel Obertan - 5 Could not do what Macheda did against Aston Villa last season. Unfortunately that's the standard most United fans will judge him against. Michael Owen - 5 He couldn't repeat his heroics (against Manchester City) either. You simply can't come on in the last five minutes of the match every time and be expected to conjure up something. http://www.espnstar.com/home/news/detail/i...Player-Ratings/ |

QUOTE(alien2003 @ Nov 9 2009, 12:14 PM) Not to mention Valencia [who I thought would struggle against Ashley Cole] actually did quite well considered how Ashley Cole handled CR last time when he was with us. Drogba was offside when terry headed the goal right? Ashley cole was silent throughout the match. Essien was great during the first half btw.. |

Highlights
MediaFire||Rapidshare I don't know if this one has been posted.. QUOTE Sir Alex Ferguson claimed referee Martin Atkinson's decisions were the kind which lead managers and players to "lose faith". Atkinson awarded a free-kick for Darren Fletcher's challenge on Ashley Cole, and Wes Brown appeared to be impeded as Frank Lampard's delivery was turned into the net. An unhappy Ferguson told Sky Sports 1: "Clearly, Darren Fletcher's won the ball - Ashley Cole's never touched and has jumped up in the air - and then (Didier) Drogba's pulled Brown to the ground for the goal. "The referee's position to make the decision was absolutely ridiculous, he can't see anything. He's got a Chelsea player (Joe Cole) standing right in front of him and he doesn't even move. "It was a bad decision, but there's nothing we can do about it. You lose faith in refereeing sometimes, that's the way the players are talking in there - it was a bad one." Ferguson stopped short of blaming Atkinson for his side's defeat, admitting instead they should have taken the chances they created. "That goal should never have been allowed. We've dominated the game; we've had great chances to win the match - and that's our fault," he told Sky Sports 1. "We had great opportunities to get to the edge of the box and some really good chances in and around the box, but we should be finishing it off. "We've only ourselves to blame in that respect. But you do need a break - and we never got the break we needed." He admitted the defeat - United's third on the road this season - was more significant than their recent 2-0 reverse at another rival club, Liverpool. "The fact is Chelsea go five points clear of us," he said. "The defeat to Liverpool didn't affect our position in the league - that affects our position in the sense that if we'd have won we'd have gone top today." Captain John Terry praised Chelsea's team effort as they shut out United despite facing sustained pressure. Terry said: "Another clean sheet for us today, we talk about the attacking players and midfielders coming back and working hard for the team and that's exactly what we got today. "(The five-point lead) was exactly what we wanted coming into the game, we've been working on it all week. That wasn't the best of games but I think overall we deserved it." The scorer of the goal was unclear, with both Terry and team-mate Nicolas Anelka appearing to make contact with Lampard's free-kick on its way into the net. Terry said: "I got a touch on it but I think maybe Nico got the second touch - but I'm still claiming it! "I was watching the stats before the game and I've never scored against them home and away, but Nico's been brilliant today so he deserves it." Anelka added: "I don't know, I think I touched the ball but maybe John will claim it. I touched the ball but I don't know what happened after that, we will see on TV." "We played good football and we had some chances but we stayed compact in defence and managed to score one goal. "It's very good, we wanted to win because we know United are a big rival for the league and it's always good to have five points on top of United." Terry played down appeals for a first-half penalty to United after his challenge on winger Antonio Valencia, telling Sky Sports 1: "I just got my body in between the ball (and Valencia), I'm glad (Atkinson) didn't give it but I didn't think it was anyway." http://www.espnstar.com/football/premier-l...y-with-referee/ |

QUOTE(Nemesis13 @ Nov 9 2009, 01:40 PM) Seriously guys, Well yeah..there was a chance where giggs could have shoot instead of cross.. btw, nice to have you here Thought United deserved at least a draw. Ferguson's tactic worked brilliantly to contain Chelsea's midfield and Drogba had slightest of chances. I'm not a United fan, but from neutral point of view, United had better of chances compared to Chelsea. I don't care what happen in the game, "Drogba's drama, tackles being thrown every where, referee's immaturity in decision making".. This all happens in football, especially in big games like this ! Back to my point, to be honest, i was quite frustrated with Giggs. He wasted 3 chances in the game where he could have done much better with the ball on his feet. JEvans and Brown was solid, Chelsea never had any genuine chance to the game. Far from my expectation, these two was top of their game. Rooney despite playing upfront , he was magnificent ! The only thing he was lacking was a complete forward/striker partner where Berbatov could prove to be doing better than Giggs. Overally, i think United gave their best. It was a 50-50 game, either side could have won it. The only doubt i had in mind was gambling Owen. i think if he was to be in the game at least 20mins earlier, he might have produced one of the moments. On Chelsea, I think Carvalho was ur MOTM. He was top of his class against united's attacker. Terry did job, but Carvalho flourished more than him. Drogba actually struggled in this game to score. Most of the crosses singing into the box was headed clear by Evans/ United's defensee. He's been kept quite. On Terry's goal, It was offside in my opinion. Terry's flick, Drogba was in the offside position. Nevertheless, it would have went in anyway. |

Capello names squad
QUOTE Fabio Capello has named Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock, Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone and Sunderland striker Darren Bent in the England squad for the upcoming friendly against Brazil. England take on the five-time world champions on Saturday November 14 in Doha in Qatar and Capello has named several fresh faces in a squad shorn of Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, Aaron Lennon, David James, Emile Heskey and Carlton Cole. However, there is no place for Manchester United striker Michael Owen. Warnock's international career extends to an eight-minute substitute appearance in Trinidad last year, while Huddlestone is still to make his senior debut. Bent has been in fine form this season, scoring eight goals, but international recognition had proved elusive. The Sunderland striker has not scored in any of his previous four senior appearances for England. Capello's original 24-man squad has been reduced by one, with David Beckham withdrawing due to Los Angeles Galaxy's progression to the MLS Western Conference play-off final on Sunday. Goalkeepers Ben Foster, Robert Green, Joe Hart. Defenders Wayne Bridge, Wes Brown, Gary Cahill, Glen Johnson, Joleon Lescott, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock. Midfielders Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Tom Huddlestone, Jermaine Jenas, Frank Lampard, James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Ashley Young. Forwards Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Wayne Rooney. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id...england&cc=4716 This post has been edited by nshady: Nov 10 2009, 12:10 PM |

Obertan: I'm ready for this test
QUOTE United fans are good at recognising quality, and in Gabriel Obertan they see plenty of potential and promise. Speaking to ManUtd.com for the first time since joining from Bordeaux, the French winger discusses his love for the English game, reveals how he's settled at OT, and outlines his plans to become a first-team regular... It must have been frustrating getting your big move then having to sit on the sidelines. Are you pleased to finally be playing now? After four months of just waiting and resting, I’ve been really looking forward to starting my career as a Manchester United player. I wanted to feel part of the squad, part of the group, and be involved in the games. So I’m feeling really good right now. Saying that, did the time out help you to settle in England? I think there were definitely some positives to it, and even though I was frustrated at not playing I tried to look at it in a positive way. In my disappointment, there were good things I could take from it. I got to know everybody at the club, I could begin to understand how things work here and get settled in England. What are your early impressions of the club? Manchester United has made a huge impression on me already. I knew it was a big club, of course. Bordeaux is a big club in France, but you come here and it is totally different. This is a world class club and it’s a totally different organisation. The quality of the players is different as well. Here there are only international players. Everything is quicker and the quality of the football is unbelievable. Did you see your move to United coming or was it a surprise? I knew United were interested because Jim Ryan (head of youth development) came to watch me play four years ago. I knew there was interest there but I didn’t expect the move to happen so early in my career. But I felt ready for it, I knew I was ready for the challenge and the change in my life. It was like a new beginning for me and I am just glad to be here and have the opportunity to play for this great club. What are the main footballing differences between England and France? The quality at United is higher than I experienced in France. Also the amount of contact, there are a lot more physical challenges than in France, and the speed of the game – it’s so fast. It's much slower in France, where you have time to look for space around you or pick out a pass. Here, everything is in a rush, because if you don’t rush then you will be tackled and lose the ball. You seem to have the right attributes to cope with that… I’ve always liked English football. When I was in France I would watch English football every weekend. And I think you're right, for my qualities I believe this is the best league in Europe for me. I’m quite fast and I like to attack and be in one v one situations with defenders. What was it like making your debut at Old Trafford? What was going through your mind as you were about to come on? I felt proud to be here and glad to get my first real injury out of the way. Obviously I’d played in the Reserves and enjoyed playing against Barnsley in the cup, but stepping out at Old Trafford is something else because I’ve never played in a stadium like that before. I was so excited and just couldn’t way to play and get on the pitch. It felt like the first step. I was a bit nervous at first, but after five minutes it felt like I’d been playing here for three years or something. The fans really get behind you and it’s a great sensation. The fans have taken to you really quickly, chanting your name at matches… I am very proud of that. It gives you a huge push when you are playing and you hear people singing your name. It’s like you have other forces behind you. It’s also made me feel very welcome here, and if I hear the fans singing my name I just want to give them something back by playing well and keep working hard for them. And what do you hope to achieve at United? At first I just want to be part of the squad, be in the group that travels to all the games, and get a few minutes in each game to begin with. Then, if I keep working hard and show what I can do, I have ambition. So, why not aim to be a regular in the team? I might need a year to achieve that, but I hope I can do it. http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=...=6642482&page=1 |

Don't think hargreaves will be anytime ready for international football. He needs time to get back into club football..and england now have plenty of good midfielders. Lennon(Facing competition from SWP) usually is the one preferred on the right...with Barry, Lampard and Gerrard. James milner is getting his chances in international football and now joe cole is back into action.
