I have seen it quite frequently from Apple Online Store USA, they sell those refurbished macbooks but with 1 year warranty. But i never seen it from Machines or Apple online Store Malaysia YET, just a question, can we buy from USA store instead of Malaysia's?

Singapore, Hong Kong and China got Refurbished apple products.

U only can buy from the respective country only.

The reason Y m'sia do not have refurbished unit b'coz Malaysia do not have Apple assembly line/factory/warehouse. ( correct me if wrong )

Machines have some refurbished products. look under 'promotion' page

the catch is, the warranty is slightly shorter than 1 year.

@masahito
Apple power adapters have been auto-switching, with both USA & UK plugs... since 2005 smile.gif

@JCvendetta
Apple Online Store will only ship to the local country (eg USA will not ship even to Canada / Mexico, Malaysia store will not ship to Indonesia / Singapore(.

Also, Apple Online Store requires local credit card to process payment...
if you have further questions, you can get accurate & immediate replies about Apple Online Store from 1800-80-6419 (Apple Online Store - Malaysia)

erm.. correction for you
during last couple month, Apple provides service for the online store to ship international, but only certain country with certain online store, not sure apply for all product or not

if you get machine from state, you might hav to buy 3-pin plug head again. cuz it's not included, same to Japan's macs.

if you have a faulty Mac, Apple usually replaces the faulty part. even if its 2 or 3 parts...

AFAIK, you'd have to trust them that you're getting a *new* unit replacement... that's not guaranteed under the terms & conditions of the warranty ... smile.gif

Try ebay. Some sellers sell refurbished apple products. I got my refurbished iMac from uk through ebay. Another way is buy from US or those countries that have Apple store that sell refurbished items using vpost or similar services.

Instead of creating new thread, decide to post here.

I plan to buy refurbished MacBook from Singapore. Aside from not having the latest spec, what other downside to this that can arise? Warranty?

Warranty is the same as new one, also one year. U even have the option to buy apple care also,

Only difference is the internal. It is either fixed or replacement with new parts but they have gone thru apple QC also.

What's the price for the refurbished MacBook? There are a number of sales going for brand new MacBooks well below retail price if you look at lowyat sales thread though. (Me me me) lol

Even some brand new MacBooks come with scratches based on complaints in the Apple forums in US. And IIANM, from what I've read previously, refurbished sets normally do not provide a brand new battery, but just a battery which is 'new enough' - at 80% minimum capacity left.

Is it? Hmm anyone here bought a refurbished unit before? It is cheaper but if it comes with 80% of battery life and minor scratches, don't think the cheaper price is a discount. At least I don't see it that way. I mean if you are spending so much already for a MacBook. What is another few hundred more

Yup. The price difference is actually not significant. If you are not on a tight budget and are planning to use it for personal use and for years to come, better get a new one

Though I believe some people really don't mind cosmetic issues on their MacBook and are fine with the slightly-used battery capacity, and these are their target market. biggrin.gif

Thanks for sharing.

But I am curious. They did not try to repair, change the logic board or replace your refurbished MacBook with another refurbished one? Or did they just ask you to live with the intermittent boot up issue - that caused you to ultimately ask for refund and buy a brand new non-refurb set? sweat.gif

they offered for a replacement of another refurbished unit but i rejected it because i urgently need the macbook. since i just bought it and it is within 14days of free return and replacement. Genius bar in fact wants me to return it and wait for a new replacement
