Pls note, EuroNCAP 3 star rating for Waja applies to the current European import only not our local variant.

Remember, Proton bare models tend to be expensive than the full spec models available in TH and UK. Looks like we are subsidizing every imported model overseas.

My money goes to Toyota Vios J (even though it is fugly than 2004 Vios). I'm more interested in the 1NZ-FE engine (has timing chain, ABS intake) than the outdated Campro found on Waja.

user posted image

Your take... an outdated car (adding CPS to Campro does not mean new engine) with lower resale value but cheap maintenance or almost brand new car with superior engine and better resale value.
*
what mean abs intake? hmm.gif Intake manifold make by abs material? If yes, campro cps already using it. Opss.. even campro IAFM already using it.. I don't think campro engine is outdated especially the cps camro. Cps campro with VIM is perfect. . Izit because of still using timing belt you said it outdated?

This news been on and on very long... most likely proton can consider fail to launch new sedan model ...and they just get other car maker to rebadge for our local market
Proton rebadge the Lancer from MMC cuz they wanna absorb newer technologies. Since most forumers here are bashing Proton having 'outdated' techs and engines lol. While doing this, they would saveup more development costs in larger sedan segment. Remember how Proton is facing financial crisis after dumping all their stakes to Persona, Saga and CPS lol... Their aim is on smaller and mid sized car, the next Waja would be on the luxury side where Proton thinks it would be better to get advise from their long lost 'brother' the MMC.

Its a double win for MMC too, they get Proton's Persona and Saga designs, rebadge it and are ready to role out to 3rd world country as MMC variant. Saveup their RnD for budget cars to 3rd world.

Most prolly not a rumour anymore as my friend who works in the company that provide leather seats to Proton had already received the initial designs of the interior requesting the leather seating covers be molded from the current Lancer seatings.

Just because the first VIos rolled out a year after the Gen 2 was launched doesn't mean that the S4PH is a more 'Outdated' engine than the 1NZ-FE.

The S4PH was introduced to the market with the launch of WRM (Wira Replacement Model) back then at 2002/03 and the 1NZ was first used in Toyota Platz/Echo sedan which started production on 2000-2005, in the Toyota Vitz on 2001-2004, Toyota ist on 2002-now and finally the Vios in 2003...............

... right till now.

Always say Proton no new tech... how about this aah... nearing 10 years edi

IMO, for 70K++, forte 1.6 should be added in the comparison. Nice design and specs.

so now will be back to old days of proton, like what we see SAGA & WIRA, SATRIA, PUTRA...look like proton unable to keep up the technology the market offer... rebadge save cost ... just asking since lotus is own by proton why dont have much tech transfer?

Vios in Toyota family is the worst car on safety even with air-bag & ABS. So think twice if u going for J version that without airbag & ABS. I work as a call man before, almost all Vios include in accident are all out of shape that kemek till in passenger cabin. Vios is real tin kosong. Just my 2cent. biggrin.gif Some more Vios rear suspension system is direct style, there a connector thats connect both wheel & this kind of suspension not for drifting or cornering type same like iswara, myvi, sentra & etc, so shud I say vios using the old suspension if u say Proton using an old engine? But then Waja had all individual suspension arms, so goes the handling is far more better.

Not just lack of the safety feature (airbag & abs), but the body not tough as Altis & Camry clases. Why? Cos Vios is a budget car in Toyota family. I personally own a Vios before. I am sharing what I experience before, do not think 1 sided (like a lot ppl thinking the name toyota, Oh then is very good, Proton, Oh no it surely suxs) Y? its part of toyota marketing u know. Cos the brand all the ppl are paying, not the features. Some more I guess all ppl will know what is packaging. biggrin.gif Toyota had nice quality on packaging. So without those feature actually they earn more. biggrin.gif
