Hello fellow collectors !

Just want to share with you all that i am very excited to received Nintendo NES (Asian Version) rclxm9.gif . Previously to my understanding, Nintendo sold only FAMICOM in this region and i still own one. Further reading explain that they did release NES which has same form factor with US and Europe release here in Asia.

I received PM from a person here selling his uncle NES, requested a photos and to my amazement, his NES is the Asian Version. I do not think it's a rare item but for me the condition is quite ok (and better than Master System that i found in Mudah). Everything is emblem with 'made in japan, from controller, to adapter to rf cable embossed with nintendo of japan..

With little cleaning and polishing, i'll have it on my display in my gaming cave soon.

And also, need to find some good NES carts for display as well, not to play since i got most of it on Wii's VC wad.

Hey now it makes perfect sense. For those who might remember, Pineapple used to be big in 1988. There was a big Pineapple store in Subang Parade, and the 1st thing you notice when entering the store is the NES games area. They were definitely NES, not Famicom or Micro Genius. At that time I didn't think much of it, because that was my 1st ever glimpse of a NES. Only much later did I come across a Micro Genius, how weird. So I guess they were distributors for the Asian NES or something.
*
Yeah, you might be right. But looking at the manual, it said for Customer Service & Warranty, the office NES Service center is either in High Street Center, Singapore or Air Raya Jakarta. They might be this region distributor.

I know this console centric retro thread, but i want to share my latest haul of 90s PC Games. This is the time of big boxed games with inch thick manuals, quick reference card, copy protection dial and lots of awesome goodies. These days they only give stuff if you're getting CE or SE.

Hopefully the next batch would include all Sierra's On Line Quest series or Lucasarts adventures title.

My early gaming years were very much on PC. Sadly, I thought those PC games bought in imbi with a nice wrapped color manual, printed floppy disk were original !. So i'm trying to make up for the 'sin' of buying bootlegs years ago by getting back some of my favorite titles. It won't do justice since i'm getting 2nd hand copy and most of these developers already bungkus.

Ahh the 90's. The golden era of PC gaming, when most of the innovation was genuinely exciting. RTS, FPS, flight sims, adventure games, all golden. Then there's also that thing with mech simulators. Although this can be disputed, I feel that part of the reason us crusty old gamers do not feel that strongly about modern games is because the feeling of freshness is long gone. All those genres I listed up there? They all peaked during the 90s. Try developing a new game in any of those genres now. Flight sims are simply dead, the FPS realm is overcrowded, and no one wants anything to do with adventure games anymore. Sure, there are exceptions, but the market is no longer rife with these titles.....

Amen to that bro... my thought exactly !

There is a GDROM emulator to replace the GDROM drive but it a bit pricey and also a bit of a grey area with ahem ahem https://gdemu.wordpress.com/installation/gdemu-installation/ . The other best case is to get a dead DC to salvage the lens (hopefully still working).

As for fighting stick, I was using my PS1 figthing stick on my DC (via a PS1 -> DC converter)

What is the purpose of gdemu? Why not just get a dc console?

Just tired of the spoiled lens, at least with GDEMU i can load games from SD card instead.

it's UK/euro version, but it's not technically PAL...

last time they used RF signals hence the 50Hz/60Hz etc.

once we switched to digital out (aka HDMI etc) it's no longer a problem.

basically there's no issue with refresh rates.

iinm the resolution is upscaled but is not HD, obviously....

but of course abang ameenskywalker would beg to differ....

Hahahaha yes, i detest scaling down or up. I need pure 240p RGB output to perfectly calibarated PVM monitor.

Necroing this old thread just because i found lack of technical discussion such as upscalling, RGBs, downscaling, mod, ODEs , arcade board etc. Games collecting also became so uninspired, running out of things to collect and i hate cheap shelves filler games.
