QUOTE(gundamalpha @ Aug 1 2010, 12:41 PM) After being away from the retro for a while, I"M BACK!!!! Played Grandia on the PS some years ago. Lost hope after logging about 40+ hours ... the dungeons and map are too massive ....Currently playing Grandia 2 on DC, what an excellent game Looking forward to get more retro games, looking for nice 16 bit era action games now |

Still proceeding with Grandia 2 (slowly but smoothly). Totally forgotten the story, like total amnesia
Can still remember Grandia's story though, the ending was a little underwhelming Was tidying up my games last night, preparing for new members to come in soon, almost all retro stuff |

I never played the 1st Grandia game past the opening act. I heard good things about the Saturn original, one of those things that never got translated. Then Working Designs (I think?) picked up the game for PlayStation. I must say, the game is completely lost on me. I quite liked the Lunar games, but this one... just no. Must be the horrific English dub work. Story/gameplay-wise though, how is Grandia?

Sadly it wasn't Working Design who did the translation I'm sure the series would be much more popular if they did it. QUOTE(chronims @ Aug 5 2010, 04:16 PM) Of course, expecially with CRT monitor |

<Checks the Internet> O.o Sony picked up Grandia!? So I guess it's quite telling the localization is... iffy. There was a Sony-published RPG called Legend of Dragoon on PS1. I happen to hate that game, but there are others who love it. What about you Gundam?

Heard lots of bad things about LoD when it first came out which mademe stay away from it. Got a greatest hit copy of it from PA about 4 years ago, still sealed, cannot commend
Always wanted to play "new" retro stuff that I never play before, but still get back to those games that I've played before in the end |

The peak days of PC gaming. How I miss them. Between Origin Systems, Lucasarts and Sierra, these guys were cranking out classic after classic game. And id sofware, Bullfrog, Apogee had great games too. EA was cool too, back when they were still Electronic Arts. I loved the hell out of Space Hulk, probably the only guy to play it in my whole school. Did anyone else enjoy Road Rash back in the early 90s?

Nice list of video game makers u have there ... -Origin Systems is very much famous of the most demanding games for any PC system back then .... Wing Commander, Strike Commander on like 30-40 installation disks (3.5 floppies) ? and for the speech add another extra 10 disks ? Just plain crazy ... -Sierra is more of the adventure series game maker. Their tittles like mother goose, King's-Police-Space-quest series are famous, Quest for Glory is more RPG tinted, gabriel knight ? one of the most engaging story. They also have a great simulation like Aces of the pacific -Lucas arts sure have a lot of adventure series like monkey island, sam & max, full throtle and also all kind of star wars games (not so surprising huh) -ID is FPS game creator like Wolfenstein 3d (actually not really 3d yet), DOOM series (now this is 3d) and Quake series. -Bulfrog is famous for simulation games like theme park, theme hospital and strategy games like populous and syndicate. -Apogee's got Comander keen, Rise of the triad (blood and gore everywhere) and the cool duke nukem of course -EA is of course one the ultimate sport franchise games maker in the recent time, they're of course one of the biggest game producer ever (since they acquire most games companies hahaha) U're still missing these great companies -Accolade. Anyone plays test drive series before ? it's quite revolutionary at that time. And also Star Control 2 is also one of the best sci-fi game ever ... -Also there's Broderbund which has a catalog of great games like karateka, lode runner, Stunts ! (great driving simulation, which u can build ur own impossible looking tracks), Prince of Persia, Myst ... -There's also one of the greatest simulation and strategy game maker all time which is Microprose. They have all kind of flight simulation games, one of my favourite is Gunship 2000. Also the Sid Meier games like Sword of the Samurai, Civilization, colonization, rail road tycoon, pirates, etc. Even games like Master of Magic, Master of Orion and XCOM are simpy the best ... -Last one that I almost forget is Westwood studios. The great games like Dune, Dune 2 (the foundation of Command & Conquer), legend of kyrandia (hilarious O gosh, how I love the old days of PC games ... sure miss it a lot This post has been edited by chronims: Aug 8 2010, 01:04 PM |

Oh, I didn't miss them. Just listing out the ones dear to me. There were definitely others like Virgin Interactive, Gremlin, Interplay, Psygnosis, SSI (Advanced Dungeons & Dragons!). Props for mentioning Shogo:MAD. I'm still waiting for a proper sequel to that. But nope, we keep seeing more FEAR. Sorry, F3AR.
