Do you guys collect old games you played/wanted to play/nice packaging or just sapu base on value? So far the most expensive ones i got is the SFC Ninja Turtles In Time. Took me a good 2 years to decide to spend my money on them.

Trying up & down to get Famicom Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers 1 my all time favourite, anyone got it?

BTW I have a extra PAL N64 i just remembered in very good condition. I still have the box & everything only thing is the gold controller paint is not in it's best look. I intend to let go the Console & cables but if anyone keen on the box & controller can also. I'll pop in a Golden Eye platinum edition but game complete but box not so good condition.

Sometimes I just get the game (if the price is right) to see what the game is all about.

There are lots of obscure game around. Also sometimes luck play a part when you see those retro stuff in places you least expected. Mostly I get my stash from flea markets or 2nd hand shops (I am more into cartridge format games). It's like a treasure hunt smile.gif

Managed to find a US Gamecube (machine only). Now I am able to play the game I always wanted to play (that is I find the time to play it smile.gif ) ... Zelda Majora mask (from the special collectors zelda disc) ~ ahem version sweat.gif

Damn hard to find the collectors disc for GC or to hunt down the original n64 cart with 4 MB gamepack (RAM booster). Don't flame me as I ahem only the disc which was not sold in the market to begin with tongue.gif

Using AR to boot GCOS over a gecko SD extension. This trick only works on US gamecube apparently.

On another note, I was checking some of my GC disc and found some with crack top layer of the disc (crack on the label). Still can boot and play but damn sakit hati cry.gif .Anyone encounter this and how to prevent more disc suffering the same fate. My games are stored in the original cover in a cupboard with no direct sunlight.

My PN03 seems to be the worst of the lot. Wario world is starting to crack a bit, RE remake is showing some signs as well ... sweat.gif

On another note, currently playing Zelda Majora Mask on GC ( Zelda collection disc) and giving the GC another lease of life. Anyone has a spare component cable to sell for GC ?

Surprisingly GC seems to scale much better that expected on 16:9 using composite cables. smile.gif. Previously was using my GC with a 4:3 Wega TV. Haven't touch GC for almost a couple of years now.

Of course, Tail Concerto. If I'm not mistaken it's been discussed here before. Was it Gundam who bought it?

It's me =), I snap a picture when I get back from SG.

Got the Japanese version from KLCC sony wings years and years ago (If not mistaken for RM20). But haven't really played the game as I don't know Japanese. The Jap opening song was change to music only for the US release. Performed by Kokia.

Anyone know of any places in Penang or KL where you can easily find old consoles and games? It sucks having the consoles but no games to play on them...

Also, anyone have experience with the Game Doctor SF7's parallel port? I hooked it up to an old PC and used UCON64 but it just doesn't seem to work right. It detects the PC and the PC can transfer the file, but it always gets stuck at 99% on the PC while the GDSF7 thinks that transfer has completed.
*
If I remember correctly the Game Doctor 7 parallel port is used to link with an external CD-ROM. Not sure if it can be used for PC though. Perhaps you can check the the file format you are transferring? There are some differences between Doctor, UFO and Wild card formats back in those days smile.gif

i think i know which kinda adapter you're referring. polarity? wow. i long time din study le. is it the adapter got negative positive and negative? or positive negative positive? the one with cross shaped multiple adapter? precious stuff like this really scared it burns once plugged the wrong thing.

nes with adapter? what kinda adapter? why le? something like the ufo thingy?
*
Is more of a center positive or center negative on the adapter. If I am not mistaken most console use a center negative power adapter. You can see that from the diagram in the adapter

(+) ---C●--- (-) (center negative)

biggrin.gif  Well, I'll see if I want to do that getting closer to the travel date. Before that, let's just casually dicuss here. What kind of stuff would you guys be interested in? Me, I was actually thinking of some rare stuff like the Twin Sticks for Virtual On, which somehow completely escaped my mind when I was there.

I'm also somewhat interested in getting an SFC, but I'm afraid I won't be able to stop once I start going through the games.  sweat.gif  I saw an SFII World Warriors cart for 円300 if I'm not mistaken. For reference, each 円100 is about RM4 with current rate. That's impulse buy right there! I even saw an Apple Pippin, though I doubt anyone would even care.

So again, let's just discuss openly about what stuff you guys would be interested in, including any "holy shit" stuff like Xbox 1 Tekki/Steel Battalion (no, I didn't find one sad.gif). This is by no means that I would entertain the idea, but who knows. Let the discussion begin!
*
You want Sf 2 (8 characters) for SFC is it ? I got a few loose carts, a trade perhaps ? smile.gif

Well, I don't actually have an SFC biggrin.gif That's why I mentioned getting an SFC, not SFC games. But if I did want to get one, the list of games I always wanted is tremendous, so I'm still up in the air about that. But just asking though. How/why do you have a few carts? All of them SFII World Warrior?
*
I see. I have a SFC but is broken sad.gif (no power). Using SNES to run SFC cart via UFO now.

I got like a few SF2 world warrior carts (duplicate), those duplicates I sell or trade. I specialize in carts collection and I sapu bundle style smile.gif. You can check the photos posted long time ago in one of the threads.

Got a metal gear solid version also, then a Red Gundam version and few more special editions.

The AV you can try Playasia, i believe they use the same AV cables as N64 & Snes, not expensive. Or you can find Component cables there too, i think they have a 5 in 1 cable.

You can use the Japan Power Adapter by connecting the A/C with a Voltage Converter, you can find them in gameshops, or electrical/hardware shops. If you are not sure about the spec just bring the power adapter along and show them. Buy bigger ones so they don't overheat easily.

But Japan GC can only play NTSC-J games, you can mod it to region free but i doubt anybody here knows how to.
*
The AV cables is the same as N64 and Snes. Component cable for GC is a rare breed though. Also note that the later version of GC doesn't have the Component port. If you have the component port, it's only for video, the audio still need to come from the normal AV cable (red + white).

For the region mod, you will need to solder some pins to a switch (jumper). Note that each region will need it's own memory card (need to be formatted for the region)

recently acquires the PHAT PS1 for cheap

but it has this nagging problem of self-resetting after been turned on for a while, like 40 minutes or so (random)

anyone knows the specific problem? I already checked the cables & my power supply, nothing wrong
*
Haven't encounter self reset on a PS1 before but did encountered on Dreamcast. For the Dreamcast, the power connector is join by pins which expands when it get hot and loss contact causing reset. I took it off and bend the pins for better contact. Not sure if this applies to you on the PS1

already opened my PS1 & clean the said pin yesterday, no noticeable bending on the pin

tried it, the PS1 still resetting unfortunately  cry.gif

going for another go today, cleaning the pin thoroughly & checking even for the slight bend on the pin
*
Also check if there is any leaks on the capacitors, or if you have another PS1, swap the whole power board.

I have another PS1, but possibly a recond unit. It is modded but will only play certain pirated CDs

how to check if all the parts inside is not a recond one?
*
Not sure what you want to check ?

If a mod chip mod, there should be an extra IC with wires sticking out with solder points.

What I am saying is swap the power block PCB to confirm if there is anything wrong with the power for your PS1 (reset issue). Before doing that, do confirm both are compatible (same region, power 110v or 240v, etc), if not then you might fry your ps1.

If after the swap and the machine still reset then it might be something else causing the reset.

Officially, Cyberbots was Japan only. I know that our arcades didn't really care whether it was Japan-only or whatever, but I never found a Cyberbots machine back then. I think it came out around 1997 or 1998, during Capcom's CPS2 days. Perhaps Capcom thought the west wasn't ready for this kind of game?

As for Rise of the Robots, well, the game did suck. But man, those were some killer graphics back in the day. Back when everyone used hand drawn sprites or digitized graphics, these guys were using 3D Studio, and boasting about using ray tracing techniques. I remember drooling over magazine previews for the game, and couldn't believe such graphics were possible. Too bad the game played like balls. Like, even the stupid special moves were hard to successfully perform.
*
I remember there was a couple of cyberbots arcade in Sungai Wang way back in the day, there is actually 2 cyberbots game. It started with a beat them up (final fight type) first then moved on to VS fighting. Can't recall if Sungai Wang have both or one of the other. biggrin.gif

Holy shit I was wrong. Cyberbots was a 1995 game! No wonder I never saw it. I was not actively playing in arcades during that time. Form 2 student, no access to "friendly" arcades. Seriously, who the hell thought that only 18 year olds and above play games?  doh.gif

As for the prequel game, it was something called Armored Warriors (Powered Gear in Japan). Yet another Capcom game I missed, due to the 18 years only thing. Blodia's first appearance was in this game apparently. Well, the more I know!
*
Fren, I was also in secondary school during the 90s but I can also masuk arcade .. hehehehe tongue.gif . I remember you cannot go in with school uniform only (some went to the toilet to change shirt) during weekdays and I was mostly there in Sungai Wang arcades on the weekends. Fun times before the arcade purge in the late 90s.
