Not that I'm condoning it, but it's very easy to get "backup" games for Dreamcast, since you don't even need to mod it. The Internet is your friend there.

Accesories are tougher though. In the first place Dreamcast was never as popular as PS1 or PS2. Unless you look for second hand stuff.

Any idea where to fix my ps2 lens for phat ps2? Wanted to play FM5 wich sadly my memory card lost and cant read disc.

Any recommend game to play for DC? Playing code veronica now, I do know that DC is kinda famous with fighting game (which I hardly have an arcade stick) and shump (which I sucks as well). Not forget that my controller are kinda spoilt already.

Btw is it normal for DC to have a loud disc reading sound on their console? Mine was kinda loud when loading stuff.

These are the only times where I have time for home console and wanted to play classic one (dunno why)

I think most console shops should be able to repair a PS2, given time. They will most likely just change the lens after all.

My favorite games on Dreamcast are always the fighting games. The only console ports of Street Fighter III, Marvel VS Capcom, and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure to retain its original frames of animation are on Dreamcast. SFIII was never ported to other consoles until Dreamcast died.

Then there are the non-traditional fighting games like Power Stone 1 & 2, Tech Romancer. The awesome Soul Calibur of course. Capcom VS SNK 1 & 2. Maybe the arena fighters like Spawn and Heavy Metal Geomatrix.

Shmups are also plentiful on Dreamcast. Gigawings, Gunbird, Ikaruga, Border Down, Under Defeat. I had a lot of good memories playing Dreamcast. But I only bought it after SEGA announced it will be exiting the console business. I was afraid I will never get the chance to own a SEGA console if I didn't act quick.

Thanks for recommendation, tbh this is the only Sega console that I owned and brought it dirt cheap back then (under rm100 without vmu) so why not? Yeah looking back on those title that you mentoned I do realized that Capcom did really pushed themselves to support Dreamcast before it dies out, too bad I dont own a stick to play fighting/practice. Which console should we compare for DC in term on hardware wise? Ps1 or Ps2? Since DC is like in between. I am just wondering why people still like Sega hardware for fighting compared to PS back then?

Thanks for all the enlightment. Anyone got a spare Dreamcast controller? Mine was kinda dead. Btw just curious why Dreamcast still opt for CD based when Ps2 and GC already adopted their own DVD format? What gives? After playing my Dreamcast seriously I am kinda have alot of fun. tripleB

Still looking for a shop to fix my ps2 lens and some Dreamcast game.

There is a GDROM emulator to replace the GDROM drive but it a bit pricey and also a bit of a grey area with ahem ahem https://gdemu.wordpress.com/installation/gdemu-installation/ . The other best case is to get a dead DC to salvage the lens (hopefully still working).

As for fighting stick, I was using my PS1 figthing stick on my DC (via a PS1 -> DC converter)

What about ps2 phat lens?

I'm very certain we should be able to find PS2 lens sold online. There are way too many PS2s in existence, so there must be a healthy parts surplus too.

Here are some you can find on Aliexpress

Opened up my phat ps2 and clean the lens and some dirt around the disc area. Eventually some can read and some cant. Well thats the bad about playing bootleg, but no complaint, at least the ps2 still running good besides certain disc

Now to get a new analog and memory card

I can't really choose a single game from those golden years of Capcom. Most of their output were so awesome. Even their licensed games like Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Punisher, Alien VS Predator were awesome. You know, unlike Acclaim.

Most of the fighting game you guys agree to get the dreamcast version better than ps2 version? Like Snk vs Capcom, kof 2000? Of course looking for 3rd strike as well, that is why I am looking for a stick as well. Still wondering how you guys convert ps1/ps2 stick to play on dc? How do you even save the game?

Btw anyone have front mission 5 and lament of innocent? I miss those game that I wanted to play now? Damn all those classics.

You're trying to run Japanese games using the Utopia disc? Nope that won't work. What you need is either a Gameshark CDX or  a utility disc like Action Replay. Trust me, it works.

Crap man. Now need to do some trial and error on CD-R and burn some cdi iso to try. How can I get those Gameshark or utility disc now? Man was so happy brought a light gun and Japan HOTD 2 to shoot some zombie until this obstacle.
