Well, the Micro Genius was a Famicom clone actually. It became so popular in Malaysia, even I thought it was a legit console. The Famicom was the original 8-bit Nintendo console, renamed to the US as the Nintendo Entertainment System, with a reworked cartridge shape to make it look less like a toy.

yeah....they still selling it?

Didn't you know? Cyberbots is Capcom's No. 1 game! ~ Devilotte

Officially, Cyberbots was Japan only. I know that our arcades didn't really care whether it was Japan-only or whatever, but I never found a Cyberbots machine back then. I think it came out around 1997 or 1998, during Capcom's CPS2 days. Perhaps Capcom thought the west wasn't ready for this kind of game?

As for Rise of the Robots, well, the game did suck. But man, those were some killer graphics back in the day. Back when everyone used hand drawn sprites or digitized graphics, these guys were using 3D Studio, and boasting about using ray tracing techniques. I remember drooling over magazine previews for the game, and couldn't believe such graphics were possible. Too bad the game played like balls. Like, even the stupid special moves were hard to successfully perform.

u know lah during that period of time everything was street fighter doh.gif

yeah man, ROTR was really something visually the audio and soundtrack were decent too but the thing that really sucks was gameplay, controls and story.

Emulator is good but the gamepad....  Have to try out a lot of other gamepad to avoid the delay response.

actually i've been mostly using MAME

QUOTE(ico12 @ Feb 12 2015, 10:31 AM)
What game is that?

I've also recently finished the first Ratchet & Clank on PS2. Took me around 6 months  sweat.gif  Damn life gets in the way of my gaming needs. I remember back in the day I could finish the whole Jak & Daxter trilogy in around 1 week plus. Now one game also need half a year to finish.
*
i seriously wonder how those "game reviewers" finish a game within a day.
when reading reviews they always complain "aiyah so lousy one, this game only worth 24-36 hours of gameplay"

Well, it's their job. They spend 8-5 playing games while we spend our 8-5 in the office  yawn.gif Average time to beat a game is usually around 8-12 hours and in my case those 12 hours are spread across maybe 2-3 months period as I get only around 1 hour of playing time every other day  cry.gif

It's a cool job if you get to review great games but imagine your boss came to you "zenix, please review this new Barbie Horse Adventure game. 3-page review and give it positive score because they have a 'deal' with our company. I want it on my desk tomorrow morning". Mati wei

Fren, I was also in secondary school during the 90s but I can also masuk arcade .. hehehehe  tongue.gif . I remember you cannot go in with school uniform only (some went to the toilet to change shirt) during weekdays and I was mostly there in Sungai Wang arcades on the weekends. Fun times before the arcade purge in the late 90s.

was watching this and thinking wow so many ancient (yet familiar) chips are on those machines to do so little (in terms of computing power if you compare it to what phones can do today) which is kinda funny when you watch 19:10 when he mock both machines having less computing power than his pinball machine build in the next video with an evil genius laugh laugh.gif

so many chips and material, we're quite lucky those machines exist at all or they're just the last few copies left?

i am guessing if manufacturers do make an updated retro gaming rig it would be smaller and run on SoC's to save cost. if the retron5 really had to run different system titles then it would be bulky hell with so many chips and boards cram on it.

Need to find of course. USB drives are sold almost everywhere, but I'm not sure about novelty ones. If you know the name of the store selling it, it will make my search easier.

Gonna go out on a limb and say it's the Atari 2600. Because I remember reading it was also referred to as the Atari VCS (Video Cassete System).
