wow, so it's only 65k colour? wat a disappointment.. i expect better 1.. at least AMOLED la.. come on.. 2010 ald, TFT ald outdated, y not change to something more energy conserving? hmm tat article posted by xpresside is informative.. but as hsyong said, we are ald 4 years after the post.. so i dun think 16M will drag down the performance of the phone. dun forget that the current high end smart phone is faster than desktop way back few years ago.. i had a pentium 2 with 333Mhz, bundle with 96MB ram, 4 gb HDD. now we got 1Ghz processor, 256MB ram and more than 4GB storage for phone.. so, as i said, y dun sony juz gv us the latest technology? remember, X10 is designed to be a high end phone.. juz my 2 cents, please shoot if im wrong..

well in fact, it is claimed that AMOLED has better power efficiency, better colour, brightness n response, and even lower cost(not sure tho, as it is new, maybe the cost is low, but the manufacturers sell it high?)
It's a waste to see phone manufacturers don't implement this technology in their high end phones.

The preview look so much better than the before.  Interface look slicker.  SE better do right with X10.

I have my reservation when i saw the video of X10 during the SE announcement but this preview look sexy.  then again, what's the price???  HTC Magic with Celcom goes for RM1999 and that is with 12 mths RM148 (cheapest available).
*
this preview is definitely much better than the ones shown when it was just announced, i guess SE has been working hard on it rclxms.gif
but i still feel that it's a lil bit laggy with mediascape and timescape, and the zoom on web browser..
and do you notice that the screen is a bit unresponsive sometimes? the reviewer seems to touch twice or thrice to get something done, sometimes.
hopefully it'd get better when it's finally released, or maybe significant improvement can be seen if it get updated with Eclair 2.0.
The thing that i love most is, it has got flash(funny but yea, camera without flash is just disfunctional).

Only nerds will worry about wasted bits :-) As to claims of slowdown, they are due to unoptimized APIs and slow hardware, mostly an issues with older devices. My primary concern would be how it effects the battery, if the difference is not so much might as well have 16M color.

If you just present a picture, people are not going to be able to tell the difference, but if you are using graphics programs or something and it has a color selector of a  row of the same color subtly shaded, some of the colors are going to look the same on a 64K screen.

The difference between 64K and 16M is slight, but not quite undetectable (at least I could notice the difference). http://www.easyrgb.com/index.php?X=RESO

Well one thing to mention is, the color is limited by the software (Android 1.5), not the hardware. SE Xperia X10 is capable of 16m colors biggrin.gif

is it as big as the iphone?

can't decide between x2 and x10

but most prob will get x10 just for android biggrin.gif

It's bigger than an iPhone, having a 4" screen, rather than iPhone's 3.5".

X10 definitely has higher specs than the X2, but price tag would be high too, i think.

Oh yea... 2010 will be very interesting for Android, Maemo.. even WinMo  (but WinMo 7 device may only be available after mid-2010)

2010 will see HTC Dragon, Nokia N9XX (Maemo with capacitive screen??), Google Phone?? and X10 smile.gif

Btw, SE has officially announced that X10 will be updated to Android 2.0 (16Million color display.. the current screen is capable but Android 1.6 supports only 65K)

The only problem is I need one NOW.. and there is none that is good enough smile.gif
*
well Hero is not too bad, altho the spec seems to be low compared to upcoming ones, but it is smooth enough for usages needed.
and it came to my attention some time ago, that Hero has 288MB of ram, i think it is a good thing, isnt it? as even X10(and many other major android smart phones) only come with 256mb.

2010 will be a competitive market, but i afraid it'll turn out to be like the computer market, the device you buy now will be beaten by another killer device in coming months...which has never really happened in smartphones' market.

yup, hopefully the X10 will even be bundled with Android 2.0~
The current one is getting better and better with more and more hands on video too.

and i doubt that's real, given that google's having a Nexus One, SE wont be stupid to coincide the name

Just read that this android phone don't support flash. What is flash exactly?
*
Doesn't support flash yet. You go to most 'beautiful/cool' looking websites with all sorts of colourful little things, those are usually Flash powered. Or, websites with small games or movie/music players, those are Flash too.

You may also search for Adobe Flash for more info.
