actually the screen colour is 65k or 262k ?? so confuse ??
*
Screen is capable more than 65k for sure. The limitation is with the Android v1.6 build. Only 2.0 and above can allow more colors. Milestone with v2.0 states 16m colors.

how can you upgrade the firmware from v1.6 to v2.0?
just curious..
*
You can't upgrade the firmware like installing a new Linux distro. We will need to wait for SE to release a new ROM update or wait for some leaked ROMs. Then ROM cookers will work on it to port it over into X10 and give you custom ROM. That alone will depend on the popularity of the device. Nexus One is very popular so naturally there will a lot of custom ROMs targeted to it.

The Android scene is pretty fragmented now. We see so many version builds of Android (1.5, 1.6, 2.0, 2.1) and yet not all of the devices have the latest build. Most of them are stuck at 1.6 which is a pity. Upgrades are slow and we don't know who will deliver them. The manufacturer or Google? Some phones are marked 'with Google' while some phones are customized like HTC Sense. Some have market, some don't have.

In the case of X10, most probably updates will come from SE. Judging by SE's responsiveness over the past, firmware update is gonna be slow. So yes, the X10 like any other Android phones can be upgrade. The question is when and whether there will be an update.

So anyone got their set already? Hopefully it doesn't dissapointment like Station when it launch...too many complaint.

I don't think so. We got a guy named Terry (recommended by the way) offering it for sale and it is original. But there is no stock yet. I think from March onwards a lot of new Android phones will be launched.

Don't mind asking if u got HD2 and Nexus One already would u go for Bold 2 or X10?
*
Nope... I would keep the Nexus One. But I do understand that once you already experienced something (no matter how high end it is), your heart goes out to try something different. If you're attracted to the 'real time' messaging of BB... don't miss out the Digi promotion now at Midvalley.

The X10 basically the same as Nexus One but running on an older Android build and slightly lower RAM. Unless you're attracted to the build quality, I don't see why you should go this phone. Keep the N1 in this case. Or you can sell to me :-)

Hahaha, I'm not a pro. I'm just helping out the Android community. I used to active on Android forums last year when I had the Dream/G1 but I had to let it go because Android was very new and a lot of features still undeveloped. Now things are a different story now. Its getting matured. Now I wished the application store receive the same attention.

65k colour is really bad, hopefully when updating the firmware frm v1.6 to v2 it wil change
*
Come to think of it, 65k isn't really bad unless you're viewing multi-tone of a single color. On everywhere else, you won't notice the difference. But I have to admit 16m colors sounds nice on paper and it does give you a good feeling about it. I remember my time with the HTC Touch Diamond. 2.8" high resolution VGA screen and only 65k (limited by Windows Mobile). Things were bright and contrasty. No problems there.

QUOTE(aruja_69 @ Mar 7 2010, 11:46 AM)
Seem SE is lauching the model to late and price is damn expensive compared the other with higher version..now got double mind to get X10. I have been getting anything new from SE..like window then symbian and now android?
*
Get Milestone. I found a custom ROM for it that gives you all the goodies from Nexus One. It doesn't need rooting and it bypasses the locked bootloader. Its not really a ROM per say... just a pack of core apps and tweaks that install on top of the standard 2.0.1. Had it for a day now and things are very smooth and I like how my Milestone look right now.

Guys have you seen the youtube videos? Graphics seem choppy to me. But x10 has the best blue background. The standard Android black is getting monotonous.

I learned that most Android phones or maybe I should say the OS doesn't take advantage of graphics acceleration for it UI. Thats why we see choppiness and stuttering.

Yeah remember the Satio? Epic fail. During announcement, everyone was so excited. Damn... it took more than a year to release. Everyone went on with life back then. Yeah there were still a group of eager customers. But they were disappointed with that firmware issue that caused a recall from shelves.

actually nokia will announce MEEGO and also Maemo 6 later this year ..... but for me N900 was just like N97, i mean 3.5 inch screen, 500 mgpx camera, 32GB internal memory, and 181 gram weight ( =.= ), just the os different only .... hmm.gif
*
Don't forget that Nokia is working on the Symbian^3 and then Symbian^4. Geesh... what happened with Symbian Foundation OS. Seeing the kind of developments happening. I think there's gonna be a lot of disappointment going because there's gonna be a lot of new releases. And we all know how Symbian is stuck on the device without any upgrades.

But the price is overpriced for RM 2799, hope xperia x10 not have alot of bugs like satio, i have my N1 i will stick with my hp because i satisfied with my nexus
*
It shouldn't because they took the Android 1.6 like a mold and remake it by adding their own interface. But I would worry about the Radio ROM more but its too premature to assume anything now.

going for hd2 !!!

Yes, HD2 is a nice phone to have. The screen is really enormous. Terry sells it for RM20xx AP set and RM26xx for original. Pretty good price if you ask me.

QUOTE(irenic @ Mar 25 2010, 10:50 PM)
currently the best support for android device is definitely nexus one biggrin.gif
hd2? it's a different world. now it's either android or iphone..

Soon it will be HTC Desire hehehehe... I would go for Android. But iPhone still have the best games.

yes, comfirmed get it tomorrow. btw, less ppl discuss this phone, why leh ?? android 1.6 ?? too expensive ?? wait for review ??

I think it is the price and Android v1.6. We don't know if updates will come considering SE's record over the past. But frankly speaking, HTC's Sense UI has an edge in terms of interface technology.

yes you're right. SE official blog comfirmed will updates to android 2.1 ( or maybe 2.2 ? ) but dont know the exactly date. maybe on that time already change to samsung galaxy S !! icon_idea.gif
*
Not to mention that the Galaxy S has 5 times the GPU processing power over the Snapdragon. Gonna be great. But I never like Samsung's interface design. Very boxy. Even their Bada platform is not eye candy.

QUOTE(XP750 @ Mar 27 2010, 01:20 PM)
I got booked it earlier so i got it for rm2570

In the box:

X10 (Android 1.6)
mni stand (place your phone on the stand to watch movie)
handsfree set
screen protector (glossy type)
leather pouch
8gb mini sd card (in the phone)
charger & data cable (theres only one cable, the usb cable is plugged into the charger for charging)

PLS NOTE THAT THERES NO BLUETOOTH HEADSET IN THIS PACKAGE, maybe other region gets it sad.gif

-I would say the phone is smooth, i didnt experience any lag, animation flow smoothly.

-The only thing i notice is the touch sensitivity, its not as good as the Iphone,
Its not serious but sometimes you will get miss-inputs when typing so pls check what you've typed!!

-Color is not as nice as the Iphone due to android 1.6, hopefully if will look nicer after getting the 2.2 update biggrin.gif
But you wont notice this unless you are viewing pictures with color gradient.

-Speaker wise, its loud, but the quality isnt as good as my W960

-The only thing i dont like is the usb connector's cover, it looks really fragile. This will break off sooner or later.

I dont have my camera with me so, sorry no drill tongue.gif

ask me anything you would like to know ya!!
*
I think you encounter missed inputs because 1.6 does not support multi-touch for typing. So when you type fast, your fingers may hit more than one key at a time. Without multi-touch, you'll miss some keys in the typing.

QUOTE(hsyong @ Mar 29 2010, 01:36 AM)
This may be the screen sensitivity issue OR due to absence of multi-touch detection on the screen. Now still waiting for reliable confirmation whether the LCD hardware supports at least dual-touch. If not, even updating to Android 2.x won't help. (Android 2.x supports multitouch but the hardware MUST also must support it)

If the screen is not full multitouch, hopefully it is at least dualtouch capable. Else, there won't be much improvement in typing reliability even if the OS is updated to Android 2.x.... also, some apps and games that require dualtouch or multitouch can't be fully utilized.

PS: The official SE blog states that NO multitouch is supported due to software and HARDWARE ... not sure if this means the screen hardware is dual-touch or worse, single-touch.
*
I think the X10 does support multi-touch. After all it is a capacitive screen so the hardware is definitely capable. 2.1's requirement is multi-touch. We saw a lot of Android devices that started without that support but gained multi-touch when updated to 2.1 or customized when in 1.6.
