Hi, anyone has tested the Dolby Atmos? I'm planning to get Pioneer SC-LX58 which is the least expensive AV receiver with Dolby Atmos. Btw, I saw a lot of receiver with 11 channels speakers connectors behind the receiver, but it still called it 9.2 rather then 11.2, actually what is the criteria they used for 11.2 AV receiver?

The pioneer 822 isn't really idea to listen to music, especially 2.0 setup! If you want a good sounding budget system, you better go to get a used cheap NAD or Marantz or Cambridge Audio integrated stereo amplifier to start the 2.0 system.

QUOTE(dirtrun @ Jan 8 2015, 09:22 AM) Haha, I tink Threadstarter wants a HT but is starting wif a gud [according to his budget ] 2.0 first.. I live wif mediocre musicality too cos I m more in HT .. AVR's are sorely quite inadequate where music is concerned.. Got sound la but not great.. D Yup, this is the main purpose for AVR to watch movie, not listening to music, even the flagship model still cannot compare to those cheap integrated amplifier for listening to music. Unless you are just want to listen to music, but not care about the SQ, then the AVR sure can do it perfectly!

QUOTE(paskal @ Jan 13 2015, 08:19 AM) already confirmed? the hoo haa before is that current gen atmos will be software upgradeable to dtsx. This time I don't think DTS can't win over the Dolby Atmos, the most easiest clue is that when DTS launch their DTS:x, i'll bet that time market will be flooded with Dolby Atmos bluray titles already. And the DTS only said it will be launched in March 2015, but it doesn't mean DTS can straight away introduce the new codec to home theatre, maybe it need more than a year or more just like Atmos?? Besides this, Cinema from around the world is upgrading to the Atmos, now already have more than 1000 major cinemas equipped with Atmos, so meaning that those movie studios like Warner Bro, Marvel, Paramount, Disney, Pixar.... they just need to do one time audio encoding and decoding process and already can provide to cinema and bluray. Current bluray most of it is using DTS HD MA, because the DTS audio decoding process is consumed shorter time compare to DOLBY True HD, this is why most of the Studios prefer to use DTS HD MA. But will the new DTS:x having the same benefit as the DTS HD MA? No one know, but because of the DOLBY Atmos is using Metadata method to process the Atmos surround effect, so they can be using back the same Metadata as the Cinema for the Atmos, and those Studios just need to Encode the DOLBY True HD only and then add in the Metadata, done! But anything still need to see what DTS do to their DTS:x first, then only know!

Seem like the DTS is rushing to launch the DTS:X to public, now only they knew that they're slow and Dolby is conquering the market very fast. Now the DTS Demo Disc 2015 with DTS:X in 5 movie clips already launched and free to every person who has visited to the DTS booth in the CES show lately!

Onkyo, Pioneer, Yamaha are made in Malaysia. Denon and Marantz I think are made in China if not mistaken, I like the Pioneer AVR very much, running cool even in very high volume, and the dynamic is totally awesome, one thing I don't like is none of them are 11.2 ch!

QUOTE(ktek @ Mar 13 2016, 10:14 PM) If not mistaken, the Pioneer LX59 now is selling for around RM7K, maybe you can ask for a bit of discount, but not much. LX59 price Has increased quite a lot compared to the predecessor LX58.
