Done further testing with my Piano just now. Quite satisfied..significantly louder than the built in speakers. Played some music(Emi Fujita) with a DVD player as well. Sounds good, but nowhere as good as my Yamaha receiver with bookshelf speakers and subwoofer....it's a given i guess.

speakers do have mid-woofers
they produce mids and bass
but in my case I got mids only... no bass
the woofer do the bass......barely

but no matter how,I only prefer Edfier and Aego M for computer audio speakers..

ahh yes... this speaker is beautiful in clarity,especially vocals...
but as time flies,music changed and most modern pop crap won't sound nice on this speaker anymore
as I've mentioned... this sounded like aego m with the lowest bass setting... maybe with more trebles? not sure

Haha,if for me,Edifier S530D+a decent soundcard is very good for me ald..

Edifier might sound like cheap @ss multimedia speaker for the most people because they not paying much to the websites and magazine to do a 5/5 or 10/10 product review.

as those normal ppl buy,they wont consider so much..

that is my point, Edifier never get the same spotlight like Creative, Altec Lansing and Logitech did in big name PC mags and site review such as Amazon, CNET etc. Those western people think Edifier as a cheap China brand speker while discredit that AL, Creative and Logitech also made from China factory.

Haha..I only did see the Techlabs review about S550 and Logitech Z5500..
The quality of material used in S550 is better than Z5500.
And moreover,I prefer Edifier design too..
Logitech design,price and the performance are not that proportional.
Not to mention the problems that Creative has and also poor quality material in AL..
Most of the items are made in China now.. To cut cost and increase profit..
I saw that Aego M is manufactured in Malaysia but not sure how much does it differ from the UK version.

I like the classic box design of edifier speakers compared to the groovy smooth look on modern speakers

the box design allows me to put my toys,rubbish,decoration on the speakers while most modern speakers can't do so

For me i tested both S550 and Logitech z-5500D end up i choose z-5500D the quality and sound is way much better than S550. After 3 years totally no regrets on my z-5500D.

My speaker i use for all rounder like music/movie/gaming and those told u z-5500D no clarity they are totally wrong. With the right tweak u have everything even amazing bass come on 500Watts of POWERA
The speaker design of edifier look old school.

that's why la... u tweak the system... that's why it sounded good cuz logitech is capable to do so...
logitech can make good sounds... it's just that on stock/untweaked it's really bad.

But the salesguy there insist it is RM750. Later KuchingTiger/Kenny PM me and told me the priice is RM690 (I PMed him earlier in the day). I told him i already bought one from his shop at RM750 and asked him if i can get an RM60 refund. He immediately agrees, apparently his staff not aware of the promotion. So today i get back my RM60 from HiwayLaser.

Thumbs up for KuchingTiger/Kenny for good service and honouring his price!

Btw, the offer last until today....only 3 hours to go...better grab one if you intend to buy it now, or it's RM750 on Monday!!!

For RM690 it's RM109 cheaper than the cheapest T3 at RM799. It fits my purpose well, the satellites can be put on my piano and the sound is great.

Sound quality is way ahead of all those Edifiers R1900 and R2000. And the bass is not boomy, fits my need exactly.

Now i only wonder how to mount the satellites on the wall....hmmm...

Added on July 31, 2010, 5:39 pmMade in China is not same as China Brand bro. China Brand generally has zero quality, it's a fact. Even SONY, MS etc all made in China...but it is NOT China Brand. There's a big difference. I bought numerous China Brands stuff before..now i totally ban em.

Haha..my bad..I shall not comment on Logitech Z5500 and Edifier S550 since u will do the tweak.
But I really do wonder how S550 performs after those 'tweaks'.

And then,I shouldn't recommend R1900T3 nor R2000 to those who have budget and telling me a speaker costs twice the price of the aforementioned speakers is way better than them.

untweak its good too but with it its better. I tested S550 not really good in all rounder. With z-5500D i have all rounder in everything movie i am impress, music i am impress and even in gaming.


I tested both S550 and z-5500D side by side at my friend shop the S550 just sound lacking for me. I watch alot of bluray movies , collect to my PS3 , connect to pc via optical input ,

Thats just for me. Edifier price is cheaper more a better value buy
