hmm.. Well not much choice of speakers available in here compared to Malaysia.. R501 for some reason no more available... only got S550..  cry.gif
yea agreed with u.. and bose satellite and woofer really small for that price.. so my only choice left is S330, S550, logitech z2300..
*
the small size doesn't mean it's bad. creative T3 also small but produce acceptable sound. anyway, for great bass under 250CAD, check:

Altec Lansing MX6021
Creative T3
Klipsch Promedia 2.1
Logitech Z2300
Logitech Z Cinema (cheapest)

can't really find much edifier from ca site. anyway if you're looking for bass you may have thought otherwise. i got myself the z cinema cause it's the cheapest among the lot.

Sonic Gear has poor build quality, not sure the sound of the tube though. Just worried they are a very poor long term investment.

Edifier S730 is more worth it compared to logitech z5500

Logitech Z5500 is designed to be a multi-platform device. it's advantage over the S730 are the optical + coaxial + analog input for consoles like PS2/3 and X360. but on the other hand it lacks of midrange, well it was designed for gaming and movie in the first place.

Edifier S730 is designed for music listening, that explains the greater midrange than Z5500. But personally i feel that the subwoofer could use more oomph judging from the size. only the S730D comes with coaxial and optical input.

which one is more worth it? you have to listen to it, or rather see which purpose are you using for.

actually..i tried out both of it at pc fair.

and i personally own an edifier c3..i really really love the sound produce from the c3..best speaker i have ever own..

also, between s730 and z5500...z5500 has strong woofer/bass but in-terms of sound..edifier is a lot better..tried pumping up the volume on both..the z5500 starting to feel like it reach it's limit..but the s730 jz keeps on goin up witout a problem..really enjoy it..

guess s730 wud be a better buy for me biggrin.gif

actually...................................................it's a very stupid idea to try speakers at pc fair (no offense)
reasons why because pc fair is very noisy, crowded and messy
you always want to test one speaker at a time and not 50 of them blasting at your face plus other speakers interrupting from other companies

s730 is great but I would highly recommend you to go to lowyat and re test them first before deciding

Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought Edifier S730D and S730 is the same, basically S730=730D, coz my old S730 there's no "D" at the back, and it still has Coax and Optical at the back, and Mr Edi also said that it's the same if I'm not mistaken.

there's only one S730... and it has a D in it smile.gif

so
to make it simple... when you see S730... it has a D in it smile.gif

oops, i think i mistake the S730 with the S550. so it was the S730 has the coax and optical while S550 does not?
