Hmm, from my experience of using Garmin for 1 year+, and very limited experience in using Papago for 1 week+, both of them never make use of the elevation from the GPS, meaning that they can't tell whether I am on which tier, even when using community map. Usually they will only realize after I go out from the place that have many tiers.

So for this 1-2-3 tier thing, I would say google maps (its different from google earth, FYI), and community maps are the same. I agree with everything else you said.

There is still a lot of uncertainty in this, hence I have yet to purchase x5.... It is definitely something I really wish to have, simply because of the MFM....
