why u all keep suggesting X5? evven if it can support 2.1, there's no support for 800x480 yet la, only win mobile got. the highest resolution now is only 320 x 480 and its stated in m3asia website itself. what's the point?

Okay, fair enough. My bad.

Another question, so does the X5 natively support 800x480? Because i do not want to end up getting a low res version and getting stretched and looks ugly on my phone. Can you provide a few screenshot showing map and navigation? Because i'm really considering to buy one. Also, does the license entitle you for further software upgrade in the future? Or is it strictly for X5 only?

MFM will continue producing Papago maps. Re-construction takes time.

Im still unconvinced, so i wanted to try a generic X5 i found somewhere with the 5.1 patch given above. Upon running, it says that "Map data validating failed..", yes i have the default taiwan map in the navi/maps/tw and exited just like that. where have i done wrong?

time and time again, i have told you. M6 & M7 isnt for malaysia.

and i'm going to offer this one last time,

IF you have purchased the ORIGINAL through maction, show me proof of your purchase, i will personally teach you how to dump MFM maps into M6 or M7 the right way. bear in mind this is only a temp solution with bugs.

poi's wont be extensively searchable and the roundabout icons will still be taiwanese's left hand drive mode. so would some voice prompts.

we begin our journey into a roundabout using clockwise method. Taiwanese on left hand drives are the total opposite.
so ......... show me the proof that it is original that you have purchased, and i will tell u how and what to dump.

Added on July 7, 2010, 11:50 pmapart from that, if you hadnt purchase an original M6 or M7 or X5 or X3, please carry your illegal discussion elsewhere.

lowyat's r&r is on the top.

Alright since you gave me an assurance that it will in fact work. I will buy it but before that, there is few last question in mind which i hope you dont mind answering. Please bear in mind that i have been a long term user of Mobile XT and is only forced to migrate to Papago because of Android, so i am really skeptical of software other than garmin. You know what i mean. smile.gif

1. How are the details of the maps/POI compared to the Garmin counterpart of MFM? (Comparing the same dated map of course, since papago MFM is last updated at April)
2. How easily searchable are the addresses? On Mobile XT, it's very very easy. I hope it is the same on Papago.
3. Is it in english by default? Because i can't read chinese.
4. Is there a pinch zooming support (multitouch)?
5. What are the 2 downfall you mentioned, i know it's nothing major but still i'm curious?
6. What actually cause the MFM Papago to be suspended? Are you confident that it will be resumed? I don't care when, just as long as it will be back. I just want some re-assurance so i won't buy this software only to head into dead end of map updates.

Thanks in advance!

Hi All,

What buntutwoman said .. is true. but currently only for Android 1.5 until 2.1 that really works , still workin for 2.2 .. 1 thing why always u ppl compare papago n garmin, if u thinkin garmin the best. then wait for garmin to release for android  sweat.gif
As buntutwoman mention go to m3asia and asking them u wanna install for new version of android..

p/s buntutwoman : as u mention earlier , ur papago was been given ?? is it right ??  hmm.gif

there is no news at all about garmin releasing on android, not that i don't want to wait. for all we know, they might not even release the mobile version anymore, just like they discontinued mobile xt on symbian. and the reason i compared it's because i've been using garmin all my life and i loved it, despite the fact that it's a bit slow. that's why my expectation of any new gps software is such that it must have feature to match at least those offered by garmin if not better.

Hi, just to ask if anyone has encountered this (the thread is too long, don't know what words to search with!):

When I am using the X5 routing to guide me, sometimes the app will seem to get "confused" and the icon for my car will fly around the map for a few seconds before settling back to the correct route. And sometimes it hops to the parallel road instead of the correct one.

I am using X5 with Galaxy S. Anyone can help with this?

+1

You have just addressed almost about everything i want to say about X5 on my phone as well. Been wondering if this is the hardware issue or due to the software being incompetent to keep up with the raw GPS data. Flying around is fine, but settling down on parallel road is driving me mad. It seems that it just can't catch up with my vehicle when on the move.
