Papago do not provide trial version for its GPS software, you need to purchase the License Key to be able to use it.

Ok. Thanks. Will give the DEMO a test first...

Added on December 4, 2009, 7:43 pmDEMO?...

Talked to 2 sales person : "No idea..."
Talked to M3 Asia staff : "No, we don't have."
Talked to the suppose manager : "Nope, no DEMO. everything is the same...just test the one we have will do." duh...

The guy even tell me the price is triple 9....*What!*
...."RM99.90"  *funny way of cracking a joke"

If got Demo version, hope you guys can just share the software... or share the contact and I will get in touch with whoever.

Can't really see the performance on Android... when I tested on the "wayway" GPS, it is slow and not very responsive. Can't blame the software though, it is the device that is not responsive.

That's my feedback from walking ONE BIG round in KLCC, just to get to Papago. smile.gif
*
which wayway do u own ? I have Q3501 which i tested with many people and there was no performance issue. and wayway is a smooth device. tis faster than my nuvi.

and the performance of the android u can refer to unusual. He's had no problems with the x5 on his htc hero.

and there is no DEMO version.
Its pay RM 99.90 for the full version. Go on trial mode and dont register the software. when you are not happy, feel free to get a refund.
After Pc fair the purchase is RM 150.

This goes for both android and winmo.

allow me to give u some extra details

this is the site to go to

yours i can confirm is map issue.

if you have installed the SEA papago version, n u have corrrectly placed the MFM map files into your x:/sdcard/navi/maps folder
then there r 2 things.

either ur files are corrupted and u need to reload it

or

u didnt buy that software through proper channels.

older version should be june/july version.

since then, >1000 junction views were added
>100 turn restrictions were mended
>1000 poi's put in and removed
>100 new roads added

etc etc

Meaning we cannot have other maps in SEA version?

Like I freq Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand a lot... So will that mean that I need different version of Papago ah?
*
if u purchased the original , you would learn that thailand map is given FREE of charge, Singapore is embeded with Malaysia which is also given FREE and
navigasi.net which is indonesia, is also ... FREE .

those who never spoke of this .... didnt buy the original. its very simple.

those who did, would have 3 full maps. anyway sg+my+indon is free anyway. bonus is the thailand map.

Bro, thanks for the explanation... The SA already told me during the PC fair, I guess most of us is very clear also since all also buying from PC fair...

PC fair got sell fake Papago meh?

My question is can I use Taiwan map on SEA version x5? Because from "Unusual the mod" reply, it seems I will be running into problems...

Actually I asked the same question during PC Fair too, the M3 staff give me a blank look... I politely say thank you and say I will consider buying later...

Hehehe... You can always bump into all sort of funny things when the SA is inexperience. biggrin.gif
*
the people at m3gps are new in this field. very new.
Unusual the mod is a reliable person. you are bound to run into a world of problems when you purchase taiwan edition papago X5 for android and mysg version of x5. he is definitely right.

reason because, both have different functions.
1 reads traditional chinese characters, the mysg mana ada orang know traditional chinese characters.
and x5 taiwan edition comes with TMC which is traffic management control . its sumthing that malaysia and singapore ...... dont have.

taiwan maps have different map id.
taiwan maps have different icons allocated.
taiwan maps contain traditional chinese characters.
taiwan maps have a different routing engine for tmc.

most of the M3 staff are not really well trained. i walked into their office today to purchase a Q4301 and anyone could tell the laggyness it had compared to the Q3501. same specs just diff screen size. ask for reason, they oso blur. but however there are 2 people there who are very qualified to assist you with any questions you have on their products.

1 - Look for business development manager - Mr Daryl Teh, he can be reached at the address and number i given in earlier post.
2 - head on over to www.malfreemaps.com and pm the nick sb17.
they are definitely capable of aiding any questions you have on their products. whether it be x5 papago android or x3 windows mobile or wayway, papago and garmin units.

can only have 1 version at a time coz folders and files almost the same. map tile names are almost similar as well.

what u can do is buy 2 cheap microsd cards and load in 1 version per card lor. taiwan 1 card, mysg 1 card. then swap.

google earth/google maps is a very good application.
assuming you get to use the voice navigation, how sure are you that the turn restrictions are gonna be right ? google earth doesnt even show klang areas and alot of other areas.

malsingmaps and malfreemaps, struggle to keep up with the town councils road plannning, even with >10000 contributors.

wats more, the poi's collected from 10000 contributors are updated constantly.

how would google earth be better than a community map ? in aperiod of 7 days alone, at least 30 points are being taken off, due to closure or shifting of businesses. another 50 are added, and 5 more corrected for spelling.

its good. u get to see houses and buildings on top view which a normal driver will never see. so if u wanna find a signboard using google earth u have to wait until they come out with street view for malaysia ....which they wont.
data charges in malaysia also cheap cheap oni ma. so if u drive from here to ipoh is about 200km using 1 hour + journey. your data charges assuming is 1 sen 1 kb will equate up to ..... RM 200 from here to ipoh.
and that also they might bring u holland road coz they dunno which road is 1 way street, which road is closed for construction which road no longer exists.

best part is, they navigate u, thru flyover . what happens if u dowan go flyover but u at bottom of flyover part ? google earth will fail u there.
malaysia got many place is 3 tier highway.
LDP old motorala/sunway there oredi 3 tiers. 2 tiers also berlambak. Google earth confirm dun even know that kind of road exists. how to navigate u properly la when they dont even know how many tiers.

if go small kampung then no view liao. places like awan besar, klang, kuala pilah etc etc all see trees oni.
how to navigate balik kampung or visiting i oso dunno.

my reply is intended for the weirdos who trusts googlemap navigation more than community maps.
i have no idea how to navigate myself to a place using top sat view. street view damn nice, but top view is ....... lets just say i never see ppl's roof before when i drive or walk lor.

however dont get me wrong, it is a good application. still far long way to go before anyone can use it in malaysia. singapore still ok. malaysia and thailand, outla.

Hmm, from my experience of using Garmin for 1 year+, and very limited experience in using Papago for 1 week+, both of them never make use of the elevation from the GPS, meaning that they can't tell whether I am on which tier, even when using community map. Usually they will only realize after I go out from the place that have many tiers.

So for this 1-2-3 tier thing, I would say google maps (its different from google earth, FYI), and community maps are the same. I agree with everything else you said. biggrin.gif
*
papago does. simply because, of the compiler.
papago released its compiler to mfm while garmin, didnt release anything.

Both Garmin and Papago do not make use of elevation data because among elevation data is most inaccurate and unreliable in areas with a lot of building cover or below an elevated highway. Further improvements in GPS technology is needed to navigate multi-tier roads properly.
