Out of curiosity, I picked up the Techika HDMI cable in Tesco for RM10. Just did a quick test, it passes 1080p/24, HD audio bitstream, xvYCC, 12-bit to my Denon AVR flawlessly. In short, there are no differences with my other higher priced HDMI cables. thumbup.gif

Yup, they just restocked Tesco in Penang. Some more now at 50% off. thumbup.gif

Was thinking of getting 3 more as spares since so cheap. whistling.gif

IMHO, for digital cables, if the source throws out 1010 and U get 1010 at the receiving end, that's all that matters. RM10 or RM1000 cables.

Anyone had Dune 3.0 to try out 12bits output. I believe in the forum, somebody mention certain HDMI cable failed when switch to 12bits deep color. Also, I'm interested to try out 12bits output from Dune through my 40' long BJC Series 1 HDMI cable.

My RM19.90 (or was it RM9.90?) Technika 1.3b 3m HDMI cable from Tesco can pass 12-bit from my B1 perfectly. whistling.gif

If it can pass the 12bit test, then I would say it should pass 8bit PQ with flying colors. Good buy thumbup.gif

It was well worth the money so much so that I picked up a couple just for the heck of it. biggrin.gif

My previous HDMI 1.3b "certified" 6ft cables I got off Amazon for less than USD4 each also passes 12-bit perfectly. flex.gif

Is there a cable even fail 12 bits test?

My first HDMI cable I got free when I purchased my RPTV back in 2006, will give out sparklies when I enable 12-bit. 8-bit is fine.

If I have the time (read: When I am bored), I will take a picture of my AVR showing 12-bit output on my TV with the cheapo (price, not quality) Technika HDMI cables. tongue.gif

So far I don't think there are any movies which output in 12 bit. How about games?

Movies are all 8-bit. But my BD1 menus are in 12-bit.

Is there a noticeable difference with the menus between 8-bit vs 12-bit?
*
Very slight banding is noticeable when 8-bit is selected. In 12-bit, it is gone.
