Anyone had Dune 3.0 to try out 12bits output. I believe in the forum, somebody mention certain HDMI cable failed when switch to 12bits deep color. Also, I'm interested to try out 12bits output from Dune through my 40' long BJC Series 1 HDMI cable.

40' is gonna be a challenge for 12 bit output. In the audioholics test the Series 1 did pass the 12 bit test at 30'.

My RM19.90 (or was it RM9.90?) Technika 1.3b 3m HDMI cable from Tesco can pass 12-bit from my B1 perfectly. whistling.gif

Excellent. I think 3m length still doesn't pose much of a challenge for most HDMI cables for 12-bit.

So far I don't think there are any movies which output in 12 bit. How about games?

Movies are all 8-bit. But my BD1 menus are in 12-bit.

Is there a noticeable difference with the menus between 8-bit vs 12-bit?

Anyone know where to get a decent hdmi cable for projector? 10m or so
will conceal the cable inside wall

If you're planning to conceal inside a wall then get a certified high speed HDMI cable. This is to ensure your cable is future-proof as long as possible. Also get one with good build quality.

Because once concealed in wall, the hope is you don't have to change it.

Yes, a good HDMI cable does make different in term of quality. In high speed digital transmission, it's not simple as '0' and '1' only especially dealing with gigabit transfer rate. There is a lot factor to consider and the basic is the propagation delay, such as setup time and hold time, they are in nanosecond scale. As the result, the receiver might interpret the wrong info.

I can explain more if you guys want to understand more, but it is going to be very technical.

Yes please go ahead to explain.
