Anybody using The Pencil for multiple selections? I realized it's always running (the little circle next to its icon). I can't kill it becos it doesn't show up in Handy Taskman. Is this normal? Are there any alternatives to The Pencil?

EDIT: Yes the player and radio do not show unless they're running. Calendar always shows your task of the day (or the next day's tasks). If you have no tasks at all, it will at least show a message saying no task or something.

Proximity sensor is near the video call camera, turns the screen blank when covered.

5800 original charger output is 890mA. It should take 1 hour and a half to fully charge our 1320mAh battery. If you use older chargers / chargers for other phones with lower output, it will take longer. Those chargers for lower end phones will take hours to fully charge your 5800. Of course, if you have some app running (like the Night Stand), it will affect your charging time.

Is there a list of pre-defined Garmin voice filenames somewhere that we can refer to?

Sedara never worked for me. Does it work for you? So I just use Jill, sounds just as sexy without the 18SX stuff.

You can put up to 4 maps, each named differently. Once your maps are in place, there's a setting in GarminXT to choose which map to use, I forgot the exact location, just poke around. I've tried up to 3 countries' map at the same time and it works. BTW, I asked this last time at the GPS thread, you really should try there next time

5800 is the most problematic phone I've had after using a few Nokias and SEs. But I'm willing to live with it for its price vs the features it has. If you need a normal phone for calling, SMS, music, please get another phone and save yourself the headache. If you want a smartphone that can do tons more than other phones at the same price range, you won't go wrong with 5800. BTW, many users have no problems with it, so depends on your luck too. And please get an original set for peace of mind

Actually, I recommend the green 'call' key, becos the red 'end' key is useful to end conversations even when running other apps and you can't see the call window. The green 'call' key not so useful other than calling up the Log and calling a number, and you have on-screen buttons for that anyway.

I've had corrupted and lost videos and pics too... they show up as a broken image icon. Mine is a Nokia card which came with the phone, class 6. Formatted it, and it still happens. Losing songs too. Lesson learnt: I won't rely on the phone for media anymore. If I take any important pics or videos, I'll Bluetooth them to my PC the first chance I get.

Added on November 16, 2009, 9:09 amNot sure if this is the cause, but this problem occurs in Nokia phones when you have more than 1 contacts with the same number. The phone doensn't know which contact name to display so it just displays the number. Maybe you have a duplicate number?

Make sure you enable the Shortcuts bar first
Settings -> Personal -> Home screen -> Home screen theme -> Shortcuts bar

Then you enable the Calendar so it shows your To-Do
Settings -> Personal -> Home screen -> Home screen -> Calendar

Your To-Dos must be on today/tomorrow or earlier. If they're like days away, they won't show. Try it and see.

I was recently prompted to upgrade my PC Suite, which I did. Then it said my phone needs to be updated too, but it says "PC Suite support installation failed". How? Any ideas?

EDIT: never mind, unpaired and paired my phone again and it worked.

Alternative would be to browse to the folder containing your app then Options > Organise > Remove. Helpful if you have a super long list in Application Manager.

Guys, my charger doesn't go completely inside the phone. Is this normal? Feels loose, but can charge.

I know.. just that sometimes I want to use the "Basic" homescreen with no desktop shortcuts and thinking of another way to access the menu. Maybe there's an app like MyKeylock for accessing menu...

BTW, my default dictionary is missing something. It says "Dictionary word information missing. Install word database.". After surveying, it appears I can put back the missing database by copying it to my memory card in folder E:\private\101f9cfe. The problem is, I have no 'private' folder, even after enabling view hidden folders and system files. So I try to create one, but I can't, when I rename "New Folder" to "private", it goes back to "New Folder". Any help?

So now 3G data speed, removable battery, standard headphone jack, 3.2 megapixel camera, and video-capable are considered new features? It's weird, Apple can get some things right, but can be so primitive at other basic things. Phones already have those for years.

You can use FolderPlay, it plays songs by folder instead of playlist. No need to refresh library or whatever. I prefer this as I'm not comfortable with playlists.

Wanna ask you guys something.. when your tube is connected to PC Suite, but you're not doing anything (no SMS, transferring, etc), does the Bluetooth connection remain active? I noticed my BT is active (BT symbol with the 2 arrows). This is eating up the battery. Is this normal? Thanks.
