Mind to guide us on how to install the 5530 home screen? Yeah it's dangerous but i'm willing to take the risk.

No, ur problem isnt solved. infact, there is a huge problem that u hv not realised. from what u hv said, screen blacken with rainbow stripes ( i assume its on the right side) would most probably mean ur LCD is spoiled. U need a replacement.

The black screen then rainbow color then fade into right side then auto reboot thing all CONFIRMED is software related and not the hardware problem, i can do a demo to simulate the effect again and again on the same corrupted software after the do a disk scan.

It's quite troublesome as the removable mem seem easily been screwed up and once something corrupted if u lucky it can be resolve by reinstall the affected apps but if u like me un-lucky then everytime try to reinstall those corrupted apps it just turn the screen to rainbow then reboot. 

Anyone encounter this issue when watch video on 5800XM sometimes can see square box on the video? Is this phone or video problem?

it has omnia homescreen, 5530, 8 shortcuts homescreen and satio homescreen. I'm using the satio homescreen now, personally its cleaner IMHO. The 5530 homescreen icons are too large to me.

Hi People,

This is the problem I have and any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Well, the problem is on the home screen (desktop) of my phone none of the icons are working. When I select the "Shortcuts Bar" as the homescreen theme, the phone does not display any of the shortcuts on the home screen. When I touch the locations where the shortcuts would be (on the homescreen) I can see the hit area getting highlighted, but nothing happens (also none of the shortcut icons are shown either). Further, the "phonebook" and the "dialler" icons at the botton of the screen don't work either, when I "touch" them (atleast the two icons can be seen here, but nothing happens), plus pressing the "green" hardkey does not bring up the dialler screen as well. I tried everything I could think of, such as stripping out all themes and even tried a facotry reset, but none of these did any good.
Everything else works fine on the phone (including the contacts bar on the home screen) and the phone has 40+ mb free (C drive). So, I'm pretty much clueless as to what might be wrong here.

Greatly appreciate anyone's help on this.

Homescreen Solutions:

To those have missing icons on your shortcut bar, you can recover it back without hard reseting your 5800.

just direct to c:\private\10202BE9\persists\ and delete 10275102.cre and restart.

your 5800 should hang in the blank homescreen. this is because it is recreating the deleted file which may be corrupted.
later a while, your homescreen shortcut should reappear and working fine.

Well, this only happen if hack is installed.

I'm having the exact same homescreen problem as indicated above (taken from fp)

I have tried to apply the solution but i can't locate the mentioned folder "c:\private\10202BE9\persists\" nor locate the file "10275102.cre" even by using the windows search function. Do i really need to reset the phone??

btw.. my pc don't have memory card reader and i can't find the option to format the memory card by using the phone.. May i know where this option is located?

i'm on v3.1 firmware now and having class6 card...

new symbian os update coming in mid nxt year and another update end of nxt year. however i doubt this will come to our phone. 1st they seems to indicate multitouch capabilities. this is only available for capacitive screen phone. 2nd they also said tht it requires software and hardware improvement. in any case we still have the worst interface of all the s60v5 compares to all the other s60v5 phone out there.... great~

C:\Private folder cannot be viewed in your pc. The one you see in your PC is C:\Data. The root is C:\data in your pc. You can't see anything outside the data folder. so to do that, u need to navigate in your phone using Y-browser or xplore. And your phone must be hacked in order to be able to see the private folder.

Depends on what you need for your phone. If you like big screen, can accept on-screen keyboard, can watch 16:9 video nicely, nice sound quality, BIG community here, and a lot of apps, then it's still worth it, because 5800 is quite cheap now.

The v40/v41 firmware which should have kinetic scrolling and new homescreen MIGHT be released this month, but we're not sure about that.

But 5800: resistive touch screen, not capacitive like iphone.

If you wan to buy, look out for the versions, some version DOES NOT support TV out function. And if you can afford please buy zitron/avaxx set, it's better than AP set. You can buy from e_trade_pj , a online trader in LYN, very famous for selling phones. I bought from him too =)

what the purpose for TV out function?

When you have garmin install to your phone, you dont even need the navigation edition. It's just waste of money to get that.
