Prepare to see bunch of people rushing to apply job. Its not a good place to get interview, nor deposit your resume. As they is too many candidate which they dun even have time to read & filter it. Dun even talk about on the spot interview & offer job.

But it may still a good place to get some idea about the Co. background & more detail info.
It is advisable you direct email your resume or online job application.

All the best for your jobhunt.

there will be a lot of companies. the biggest i went was like 100++ but among all, only some which interest me. it maybe because of industry, jobscope, reputation etc. actually depends on what you want, your strategy and how desperate are you. oh, there will be hell a lot of ppl that day. just so you know

my advice:

best is bring your thumbrive with resume. from my experience most of them will bring laptop and accept thumbdrive. but just in case bring 10++ hard copies of your resume.

you might want to bring your certs as well. depending on the position you apply there might have on site interview.but usually executive position rarely have on site interview.

most effective strategy. bring a notebook. ask for hr email for you to email your application. or ask for pamplet or business card. sometimes although you didnt go work in the company. to have an hr email is very2 usefull. for example. changing jobs, query for vacancy, to help brother, sister, friends. get the person email if possible e.i ahmad@ibm.com instead of hr@ibm.com

intern also can use the same strategy. usually in applying a position. making a contact is the hardest job.

good luck

Attended the career fair 2 years back... big and small players were there. I saw BAT, Marcus Evans, Nestle, Mah Sing, Banks, Colleges (recruiting students =__=||), recruitment companies like Adecco, AllyHunt etc. For BAT they are only there for the job exposure. You'll get to speak to their HR and ask abt the working environment etc. However assuming you're interested to apply, they still ask you to mail their general HR.

Oh it's fine to go in casual as long as you're not wearing slippers/ short pants etc. Not necessary to wear formal but if you can don something like smart casual, it's the best.

Hmmm feel like dropping by to check out any interesting job offers. Well guess it isn't so bad to go with my friends~ just hope I won't bump into anyone from my office/ suppliers laugh.gif

Hi guys,

I am glad someone is interested with the my company career fair, no doubt the career will be crowded as there will be lot of candidates.

Here is some advices for candidates who are looking for job:
(i)Prepare lot of hardcopy of resume (distribute to any company that you are interested, more resume deposited, more chances, provided that you are really interested in the job / company.

(ii) Proper attire eg: not to be too casual wear , clean and smart look.

(iii) There will not be lot of interview will be held in the fair , as it is too crowded, impossible for exhibitors to interview candidates accordingly.

(iv) There will be really a lot of serious employers who are looking for SPM leaver, Fresh Graduate & Experienced staff and they provide a lot of jobs as well.

(v) First of all, i am not Racism, but according to our statistic, more than 80% of visitors are Bumiputra, and we received feeback from our client mentioned that they are looking for different races as well. Hence, if you are Chinese or Indian , your chances to get a interview/ job will be comparably higher (not a joke)

Should you have any inquiry, feel free to leave a comment here!

Tips by kelvinlym on Nov 11 2008[cool.gif[I]

A tip from me which I have used successfully during job fairs.

Get a list of exhibitors before the day.

Wear a fancy suit and a nametag. Go to the venue 30-45 mins earlier. Tell the security you are an exhibitor. Go in and you have beaten the crowd. Hunt down the companies you are interested first. That way you could get more exposure time and the exhibitors are usually fresh and more eager to entertain you.

Another tip from me.

Instead of printing out your resume and bringing a whole pile of certs, print a stack of business cards. On it state your name, contact numbers, email, your education/ job title and lastly your resume link online (to your website ideally).

When you are there exchange business cards with the reps there. Jot down notes behind their business cards for follow ups.

I have my resume posted online on my website in pdf form. This way I also know which company viewed my resume by looking at my website stats.

You give a better impression, save on paper and you know automatically which companies you gave your card to by checking the cards you get so that you can email them later to ask for status (cross ref with which company read your resume).

I had a very high success rate of getting interviews this way. Try it and tell me how it worked for you.

(Although I got my current job neither from job fair nor going for interview)

We went there this morning and there was a lot of bank companies such as Public Bank, Eon Bank, RHB and etc. Those multinational companies such Petronas, KFC, Bank Negara and etc were also there. They have vacancies available there but mostly all sales and marketing, finance, admin asst etc. Sad to say that there were limited job available for science related field like me unless in academic line. There were Masterskill and Sc Management for tutor/lecturer vacancies. They conducted the interviews on the spot for Bank Negara only that time and there were a lot of forms we filled.

We went there as early as 9.30 am and there were not so much crowd there thus we grabbed a lot of freebies biggrin.gif
But we deposited resume there. So its better to prepare more than 10 copies of CVs. They usually prefer to accept hard copy more than soft copy.
