QUOTE
....If the numbers come in as expected, the euro could shoot toward $1.50, said Michael Woolfolk, senior currency strategist at BNY Mellon in New York. But if the unemployment figure ticks up to 10%, the psychological impact of such a level could spook investors, potentially causing stock markets and higher-yielding assets, such as the euro and commodity-backed currencies, to tank, Mr. Woolfolk said.

don't expect too much. klci have a mind of its own. Other markets fall 2%, klci only fall 0.5%

+1
that's one of the reason's im not that worried about my KLCI portfolio in case the US tanks.

how about us market tank 900 point in three day?

... immediate resistance 50d MA @ 9732.5, next resistance @ 9430.
but with the 3 digit movements these days.. freakishly hard to expect the resistances to hold.

Maxis' $3.7 Billion IPO Lures Investors
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Maxis Bhd.'s initial public offering of up to $3.7 billion is attracting investor interest because of its sheer size and a promising dividend, despite the company's limited growth potential and lofty valuation.

Malaysia's leading mobile phone operator by subscribers is seeking to relist after a two-year absence, in what will be Southeast Asia's largest-ever IPO. It will begin trading on the Malaysian stock exchange on Nov. 19, entering the market without its high-growth overseas operations.

While the company is on a much stronger footing now, having grown its earnings 21% year-to-year in 2008 and expecting 16% growth this year, some investors question whether Maxis deserves the same valuation it had before it stripped off its prized assets in India and Indonesia.

totally.
not as bad as it is in a 5-day chart but this was today's chart.

FTSE swung from a +16 to a -38 i think.

I found this article very interesting:
See what you think:

http://seekingalpha.com/article/171075-the...xing-philosophy

Same thing applies to FTSE as so many companies with international earnings choose to list in London.

<till the govt 'caps' bonuses - that is!>

wow i knew the DJIA was skewed but i never saw the figures. thanks! but i think it somehow relates to KLCI in a way some of the weightages in KLCI are skewed to .. ahemahem companies.

tbh, i use the S&P 500 as a broader guideline, and support it with HSI's movement to get a rough idea whether KLCI will have a bad/good day.

lol. people can still interpret the news as green shoots.

QUOTE
October Nonfarm Payrolls -190K vs -175K consensus, prior revised to -219K from -263K

Prior was revised -44k lower, and today's numbers are lower than even the revised lower number. So we could easily have a revision down on today's numbers well below -175k next month.

Plus next month could get very close to being positive Payrolls as Holiday hiring  starts week prior to ThanksGiving.

Today's expected dip opening in the market should be very short lived and we should all take advantage of it, knowing full well that the job numbers have finally run their course.
