QUOTE(attacusatlas @ Feb 22 2010, 11:05 AM) yes, most of them are made in China to cut the overhead. However the Vintage line is still being produced in UK but at a premium price. occasionally i do pay a visit to Pertama and Campbell and some of the shops there still carry, in a very limited quantity and size, those UK made. those I tried on from made in china.. u guys still feel the famous "air walk"??? I find it hard.. where did the air go? love to try on some of their vintage lines.

found this blog.. shock to read the below http://www.alphabetcityblog.com/2009/05/do...vs-made-in.htmlQUOTE The soles/insoles are a little different. Honestly, I have a hard time believing the Vintage Collection DM soles are period-correct. They are extremely hard. It's like walking barefoot on concrete. Given DM's rep for comfort, this can't be right. The Thai boots are way more comfortable. QUOTE Most of those things are minor, with the important differences being fit, sole, and leather. Honestly, just to walk around in comfortably, I like the Thai ones better. The UK DM's look and feel more like "real" vintage DM's when you hold them in your hand, but they are a little bit sloppily made, are uncomfortable as hell and take forever to break in. QUOTE Hope this is still helpful to some people. I'm actually somewhat disappointed in my UK Docs and I thought about selling them for a while. They're now a little better broken-in, though, and I've got some good insoles for them so they're comfortable enough and I'm confident I'll be able to wear them long enough to wear them out. I really wouldn't buy these expecting them to be like the ultra-comfortable old Docs you used to read about or wear, though - just because they're made in England doesn't make them just like the old ones. I think the now-standard Thai version is actually closer to the original ideal at this point. This post has been edited by patryn33: Mar 2 2010, 11:15 AM
