As a smart consumer, we all want to get good quality food supplement which is safe, effective and yet affordable.
Regardless of the brand, we just have to know what we should take note of when choosing food supplements.
I have learned how to choose quality food supplements from a friend of mine who is a medical scientist. Do let me know if you are interested on how we choose for supplements.

Cheers!

not sure how to recommend since you so choosy...always go for branded one since it will be better quality and better QC for the product...don't go for cap ayam brand if you really concern on the quality... taking supplement is more like try and error...there can be everyone come in this topic and say the brand they eat is good but not guarantee it will adsorb/work well on your body...

best is to consult licensed nutritionist or the licensed pharmacist instead of asking those promoter that stand at the counter...company train them to have knowledge on their own brand and reading the script design by the marketing team..they actually know very little on what they selling~

Which supplement companies do we choose?
First, we need to check on the criteria below:

1. The background of the founder.

2. Stamp of Approval

•One way to tell a quality vitamin or mineral product is to look for the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP). The USP sets voluntary quality standards for vitamin and mineral supplements. To use this stamp, manufacturers must produce a product that meets USP's strict standard.
•Vitamins or minerals manufacturers that gained Drug Establishment Registration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). FDA is taking steps to ensure that their Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are followed by the manufacturers.

3. Must refer to the book named 'Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements' by Lyle MacWilliam. It compares over 1,500 nutritional products in North America to an independent nutritional benchmark developed from the individual recommendations of 12 recognized nutritional authorities.

Based on this 3 criteria, i selected one nutrition company which is intro by my fren smile.gif

For me, a high dosage is important. Usually only the "Exec B" types are strong enough. Fortunately the pharmacy brands are pretty cheap. I've been taking them over 10 years without problem and am in pretty good shape.

If you have access to a traveller to the USA, Costco Sams Club etc have huge 300-500 tabs bottles at a fraction of what they cost here. Often come in large pills that can be cut into smaller pieces.

these are the benefit of vitamin B, it's a kinda long though tongue.gif  :

5 Top Reasons You Need Vitamin B Complex

The Vitamin B Complex comprises of the essential B Vitamins - Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B9, Vitamin B12 plus the vitamins Biotin, Choline and Inositol. Vitamin B Complex is needed for the proper functioning of almost every process in the body. Here are my 5 top reasons you need to get plenty of B Complex vitamins in your diet.

1. Energy Production
Vitamin B1 is needed to help convert the carbohydrates we eat into glucose. The following B Vitamins are needed at a cellular level to convert glucose into energy - Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6 and Biotin. A Vitamin B deficiency in any of these vitamins can lead to decreased energy production, lethargy and fatigue.

2. Healthy Nervous systemThe Vitamin B Complex is essential for the healthy functioning of the nervous system. Vitamin B5 is needed for the correct functioning of the adrenal glands and the production of some hormones and nerve regulating substances. Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12 are essential for the regulation and correct functioning of the entire nervous system including brain function. Vitamin B9 is essential to prevent neural tube defects to the foetus during pregnancy. A deficiency in any of the Vitamin B Complex vitamins can lead to feeling stressed, anxious and depressed.

3. Good Digestion
The Vitamin B Complex is essential for correct digestion, production of HCl (Hydrochloric acid) and to assist in the breakdown of fats, proteins and carbohydrates. Especially vital for good digestion are Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3 and Vitamin B6. A deficiency in any of these B Vitamins can lead to impaired digestion and deficiency of essential nutrients.

4.Healthy Skin, Hair and NailsThe Vitamin B Complex is essential for correct RNA and DNA synthesis and cell reproduction. As our Skin, Hair and Nails are constantly growing and renewing themselves we need the following B vitamins to ensure the good health of these structures - Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B9, Vitamin B12, Biotin and Choline. Deficiencies of any of these B Vitamins can lead to dry, grey skin, dermatitis, wrinkles, acne, rashes, falling hair and weak, splitting nails.

5. Synergy
The B Vitamins work so closely with one other that a deficiency in any one B Vitamin can lead to poor functioning of any or all of the others even if they are in good supply. Always take the B Vitamins in a Complex and then top up with any individual Vitamin B, if needed.

Extra Tip
B Vitamins are water-soluble which means any excess will be excreted through the urine. This also means that B Vitamins need to be taken on a daily basis, as the only one we can store is Vitamin B12. Taking a high dose Vitamin B Complex (50mg - 100mg) daily can turn urine a bright fluorescent, this is perfectly safe and normal so don't be alarmed!

Hi all~

I was looking for a B complex the other at phramacy but there are too many choices. Even the person who is promoting their own brand are not so sure of what is it for or how to take it.

Can someone recommend or which brand do you prefer? Why?

Thanks. smile.gif

I consume B-Complex from Shaklee which comes with Folic Acid.

Very suitable for women trying to conceive as they are important vitamins.

Plus it is worth the price. A bottle can save you up to 4 months.

If you would like to order please do not hesitate to call/SMS/Whatsapp/PM me.

I have tried blackmores executive B before. It works well initially, but dunno why the effect seems to go away after sometime. And I feel very heaty and my urine is very yellow.
