Honestly the Vierra cast and U Tube functions is a gimmick for me so far. How many people use that anyway. I have already have notebooks at home. So I never consider this point but the western world will.
Perhaps another not so gimmicky is the front USB and SD Card where we can play Dvix thru it but sony cant do that.

I'm looking at the point where the PQ and SQ. Also, SQ may not be that important when I can bitstream to my Yamaha AVR to decode.

That left with only PQ. I google around and notice these 2 unit almost peformed at the same level. Except in What Hifi which gave Sony 5 star and Pana at 4 star drop from 5 just a after a few months. And their reason is PQ and SQ mostly. Even with the lack of extra feature mentioned, the sony can still be at 5 star. But.... as many also mention, dont trust them too much. ha ha ha ha

And many user are very happy with the result of the pana.

OK, the next info I'm going to share is going to get everyone exited..... especially those who plan to upgrade or get a new BDPlayer.

The price for both of these now selling at RM599/= icon_rolleyes.gif

Oh yah, I have not tell you which shop but is is very familiar shop you all should know..... deng deng deng.... wait my next reply. I guess perhaps someone already know. but I want to share it. The world of BDPlayer is no longer expensive. I've been waiting for years for the price to drop this much. Is also a sign that the new generation is coming.

Hope it fixed it.

Anyone still facing freezing issue with the panny BD60?

The only problem I have with Panny BD60 is the HDMI 'hand sacking'! Got sound not pic! Now that to me is a big problem as I need to bitsteam to my Onkyo. No choice but to use back my Panny BD30.

Apart from this the USB & SD port is a big plus.

Honestly guys, I dont know about KL. I was planning to go to KL and buy. But somehow luck struck. SEC offered to me. Just a moment ago, 2 friends going to SEC near Queensbay mall.

Oh btw another fantastic offer is, I extended my warranty to another 5 years. Total warranty now 6 years for additional Rm72 niah. The friends I met cant believe their ears for this price. Almost sound impossible. So I showed them my receipt which made them make a call to their husband and wife to go there now.

smile.gif happy hunting everyone.

I have chosen the Pana BD60 as well. Was with Sony at 1st and change my mind. What Hifi has the Sony as the 2009 award.

But if you google around, notice that many other so call expert review prefer the Pana over the Sony.

I kinda like the idea of reading Divx file and front SD and USB.

Who to trust? well.. for practicability, I trust the users. See how the actually users use them especially in Malaysia.

For performance wise, trust the expert reviewer but look at what are the +ve and -ve they mentioned. It may be something good for them, but not really for us.

And also trust what my plan is. So.... looking forward for my BD60 on Tuesday.... smile.gif

These days reviews are so subjective. Someone might rate a certain model as the best and another might rate it very low. Don't know who to trust anymore.

For e.g take a look at this rating of the Top 10 Blu-ray players by Cnet Asia.

Right at the bottom (10th) is the Sony S360 managing only 6.2 out of 10. (even the PS3 Slim was placed higher at 5th place (8.7 out of 10))

The Panasonic BD60 on the other hand got 2nd place (8.8 out of 10)

Try out last night, first impression on BD60's PQ and AQ are better than PS3 (FAT FAT one). The PQ is more details and sharper. The AQ thanks to the HD Audit Bistream. Also, the BD60 disc loading time also fast and acceptable to me.

gocitygo,
I believe that the PQ is slightly sharper on the BD60 becoz it has some edge enhancement even at zero. If u turn it down a notch, it will be the same.

In that sense the PS3 is pretty neutral in that aspect. However, once u set it the same, the BD60 and the PS3 are pretty close.

Not that I know.

Riddhy,
Have seen ur posts, you're looking for a media streamer that also happens to be a blu ray player. I would suggest the upcoming Dune 3.0. Will cost at least USD450.

Which one will you recommend if i could purchased following model for the price of,

Sony BDP-S360 -- RM500.00
Panasonic DMP-BD60 -- RM888.00

As far as i know, Sony can now support bit streaming after firmware update but it
still fall behind cause it does not support divx, rmvb playback.
Thanks, dude.

Just curious where can you get Sony BDP-S360 -- RM500.00, it's really a good price , the lowest so far.

Anyway you can get Panasonic DMP-BD60 for RM 850 from 1 of our member here...

Based on the price alone, i would say go for Sony.....the difference of RM 350 spend it on BD movies... rclxms.gif

I pick up from Senq for the price of RM999 (Since i got cash back RM950 from SONY for purchasing the 40S550 SONY LCD, Home Theater Z590K and Bluray Player S360 for RM2500 + RM899 + RM999)

Senq seem to have promotion going on every weekend during this holiday season. My friend at SenQ told me so and that's why i managed to purchase it (limited set only)

But damn, audio and video electronic stuff getting cheaper everyday (need to look for bargain everyway and anytime, i thinks all the major brand can't wait to get rid of the old stock, maybe they all about to release new 3D model)

Just got sms from them, they got such offer from SenQ (1Borneo branch, Sabah), can contacts the sale person 0195800046, Mr Paulus.

Even SenQ have promotion right now, just applied SenQ member card if u haven't got one. Then u buy the Bluray player from them.

Don't rush and buy now if it is not below RM1000, cause u will probably spot good bargain when u shop around this holiday season till Chinese New Year.

I thought SenQ usually sell higher price than other shop, until I notice they have great bargain during roadshow.

On the day where I am supposed to demo my home theater(my CNY open house)... for some reason the BD60 cannot read my BDs... sad.gif

After spinning for awhile the display angrily reads out "No Disc".

Ive tried with several other BDs and its the same...

I updated Firmware... still no luck...

I was just watching "This Is It" around 2am this morning before i went to zzz. I switched off all devices properly as usual then i wake up with this headache...

HELP!!!!

According to some personal view from the people i know, they have informed me that Sony products especially DVD , Blu-ray players lens are sensitive to pirated items.

I have do not have the faintest idea, why..but the lens are sensitive , similar to PS3 i guess.

Maybe Sony users could say a word here.. hmm.gif

Im not creating stories, im just posting info based on user's personal experiences. I have a mate who bought Sony BDP S360, he didnt know that Sony BD players are rather sensitive.
So he played what you call "uncle ho" dvd all the time cos seems blu-ray not affordable.

His lens koyak in less than 2 months and had to send for service. Not sure how much he was charged. Didn't see for sometime now.

I guess if you dont agree, then i can't help it.

One of the reason of the 'premature' failure of the pick-up lense is due to the non-flat of the disc itself. Pirated DVD / BD might not be totally flat. So, when you put it into the tray, it will spins noisily and in an unstable way. This could damage the sensitive lense.

Very well-said. Thats where the player itself will force to do some internal feedback correction which can significantly reduce the lens life-span.

This is very applicable too in CD Players. As you can see, all audiophiles cd players, be it entry leve or high end, they normally do not feed them with cheap-scale cds.

Go get the Sony bdp-s765 instead of the s360. It is selling @ RM1500.00. A friend of mine bought these unit. Before getting the 765, a hifi shopowner loan him a denon bdp with retail around two ks to go along with his new Vivitek projector. Wasn't very happy with the PQ until the 765. It beat the denon bdp flat in PQ dept. According to him, all the output at the back of the player are gold plated just like high end model. i think one of the forumer here bought these player last year. wink.gif

Someone offered me Pioneer BDP-120 for RM750. Am leaning towards the Panny BD60 but which would be a sensible choice?

Appreciate any comments. Tq~
