I just bought my HTC HERO on Saturday and was trying to root it (its been a day since I've tried) and it was a pain as I'm really a noob when it comes to tech.

Anyway, I read your guide, tried, failed, tried again, failed countless times (got me so darn frustrated)

It was due to my build which is the 2.73.709......I did create the goldcard but didn't know what went wrong that I couldn't downgrade the stupid thing argh!

In the end I combined both your guide and the unlockr's and I finally did it!

Took your files and followed the unlockr's one click root method and managed to root it wink.gif Now I'm running on Villian 3.2 rom and its wonderful!

Aiyooo...not everything on my own lah...I did consult guides okay...without them I for sure will not be able to do it biggrin.gif biggrin.gif However, reading through them gives me a bit of a headache as I'm no techie... laugh.gif Mind over matter XD

But along the line, I did root some with goldcard method and they were flawless with my tute too. Wanted to put it up, but then, I realized more people were learning (just like you did) and I already had posted enough stuff to kick the ignition. SO I didn't include it in.
