Hmm, i am trying out this guide on a mac and have set the Android SDK to my path.  I can run {{adb shell reboot bootloader}} and brings me to Fastboot.  However, when i try {{fastboot boot recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.3.img}}, i get a {{-bash: fastboot: command not found}}.

Any help here?

Edit:  Got the fastboot from here - http://developer.htc.com/adp.html

Lol, im still stuck at the step after that..

meowster-mac-3:Archive me0wster$ fastboot boot recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.3.img
downloading 'boot.img'... FAILED (remote: not allow)

Dint really try more after that as I have some work to finish..

I suggest you use "Flashrec.apk" to achieve that smile.gif You can install it using the market (but many asian HTCs do not have market pre-installed. so you can download it manually and install using a file manager on your android)

Here's the link to the page:
http://zenthought.org/content/project/flashrec
or download it directly:
http://zenthought.org/system/files/asset/2...-20091107-2.apk

Then you will be good to go smile.gif I'll update this on the first post for everyone's convenience smile.gif

QUOTE(prazole @ Nov 10 2009, 06:22 PM)
thanks shahs for the advice..
im too noob so i used flashrec, got it done easily..

thanks to you that my hero is now superhero tongue.gif things felt zippy now!

prazole, I'm glad it helped you happy.gif Thats one thing about open system (google android). You can mod it and tailor it to your needs without worrying about doing anything illegal smile.gif Cheers~ thumbup.gif

Btw, by end of this week, I will be done testing the 2.9 ROM stability, and will put up the files on the first post for everyone. Make sure you are subscribed to the thread guys, coz 2.9 is gonna make your Hero into a superman! happy.gif

P/s: I upgraded my Hero to Eclaire yesterday (Android 2.0). Its still in development stages, so my Hero felt like as if it was lifting the whole world. haha. I guess patience is virtue afterall. Downgraded back to 1.5 this morning. Took me hours just to get Eclaire on the Hero itself. But I have to say, our Hero will look "macho" with Eclaire 2.0 when its fully released later smile.gif

You can root directly to 2.9 from ROOTED Hero (not unrooted stock) smile.gif

UnUsUal, thanks for fixing the error..Totally didn't realized it biggrin.gif

I am done testing the 2.9 and will update the links this weekend..Will also update the post and remove the kernel installation step so it will be even easier to flash after this biggrin.gif

As for the failed remote not allow error, MOST of SEA Heros will get it, but not all..I've flashed some unrooted SEA Heros without getting the error too..Its still safer to use flashrec.apk anyway.. smile.gif

Leviathan, it was a full OS compilation. Not recommended for your Hero. What the guys at Hero will do is only install certain components which our Hero will need..If you install the full package, it will be veeery laggy..I just tested it for one night..Then downgraded back to 1.5..

Actually it does serve some small purpose. I can identify when my phone is on wifi and when it is on 3g. my data usage is pretty high and wifi can save a lot. But yeah, it would uave been awesomer if it had more options in the status bar. Running the auto wifi find hogs the battery like a beggar on steroids. lol.

The app installer was always there in HTC sync for android. But we have to offer methods for everyone knowing that some of us are running macosx (like me and another guy who responded earlier) and linux and do not have HTC Sync smile.gif

How long do you do the home + start button? It does take a little time. To be safe, when your phone is OFF, press the HOME button first, then, while still pressing it, press the start button. Do NOT release it until u see a screen with green text. Its pretty easy actually smile.gif

Wierd enough though, coz so far I have flashed more than 50 Heros with no problem. Made sure everything is fine on my first post too. Installed with flashrec that is. Well, using ADB, you get to be more friendly and personal with the Android OS wink.gif

Usb mass storage is the second last option in the recovery console. the arrangement is not necessary if you have already rooted and install the recovery console. smile.gif
