Is there any way I can enable paid apps without using MarketEnabler? I don't mind complex instructions :-)

The main reason I refuse to use MarketEnabler is the rough UI of it. WTF with that out-of-place icon & fugly big fonts?!
Thus I go a different path to access paid apps, by using terminal :-) If you have Better Terminal Emulator PRO 0. To check current operator CODE $ getprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric I'm using Hotlink, the number is 50212. ![]() 1. To change it to State's T-Mobile CODE $ setprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric 310260 2. Clear cache Market. 3. Force stop Market. ![]() 4. Go to Market. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you don't have Better Terminal Emulator PRO, you can use GScript which is much more simpler :-) 1-click with Gscript will give you those paid apps. ![]() ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you feel attached to your PC 0. Fire up cmd. 1. IF you want to check current operator, CODE adb remount adb shell getprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric ![]() 2. Copy paste this: CODE adb remount adb shell setprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric 310260 3. Clear cache Market. 4. Force stop Market. 5. Go to Market. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NB: Only setprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric 310260 is required to get yourself to paid apps. Just make sure you delete Market's cache and stop it before you go to market. Disregard other settings :-) Same with MarketEnabler, you need to run this again if you reboot your Android. As simple as setprop, clear and stop Market :-) Feel free to use other than 310260. For example 26207, or 26203, or 22802. This post has been edited by LEVIATHAN: Nov 28 2009, 10:25 AM |

I agree.
CODE rm -rf /data/data/com.android.vending/cache/* while [ 0 ]; do if [ "`getprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric`" == 12345 ]; then setprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric 310260; fi; sleep 30; done & Running the lines with userinit.sh is set-and-forget kind of thing, which is mind-blowingly simple compared to previous tricks. The 1st line auto clear the Market's cache. The 2nd line shows that if the current operator is your Maxis/Celcom/DiGi/whatever (where no paid app is available), it will automatically change it to 310260 (T-Mobile, where those paid apps are available). Every 30 seconds. Awesome indeed. Unfortunately for me, so far I never get this thing running on my Hero. That's why I didn't mention it. If you kindly please share a newbie-proof guide to this trick, I believe many of us will tremendously benefited from you. |

From my little experience, certain ROM do have trouble accessing the paid apps :-(
I can't see certain paid apps with generic .66. But I can see the same apps with MCR 2.9c. The only way I know to access the 'special' certain paid apps is by flashing your Hero to another ROM. |

Thanks cylon for the patched Market attached above. I replace old Vending.apk inside VanillaEclair 1.3 with this one, re-signed it, flashed it and I can confirm it works. No more MarketEnabler.
If paid apps missing again, just clear the cache, and force stop Market app. |

Just flash the MarketPaidApps-signed.zip with whatever image recovery you use.
