Just want to share a quick work around on how to delete your GMail contacts from your Android phone.

I've had this problem whereby my HTC Desire automatically grabs all the contact from my GMail. Now this may be good for people who wants to have your email contact in your phone. But for me, this has created duplicated contact. For example, if I have a friend name Tom listed in my phone contact and I've used GMail to email Tom (tom@email.com) there will be a duplicated contact on my phone. One with phone number and one with email address only from Google.

Here's how you can delete the duplicate Google contacts.

Before you begin, you should disable Sync option under Settings. This will prevent your phone from syncing with Google once you've deleted this your Gmail contacts. This will also prevent your phone from automatically sync-ing with Google again and grabbing contacts from your Gmail once you've deleted your Google contacts.

So to delete your duplicate Google contacts, go to People > click 'Menu' button > View. This will show your contact group and you should see a group called 'Google'.

Next, untick, 'Phone' and 'SIM' group. This will hide your phone and SIM contacts on the People contact.

Press the 'Back' button and now you should be seeing only Google contacts which is a list of name and their email address.

Click on the 'Menu' button and select 'Delete'. This will show a check box next to your contact. Hide the keyboard and press 'Menu' button again. Next, press the 'Select All' option and then tap 'Delete'. This will delete all the GMail contacts off your phone.

Hope this will help you out. smile.gif
