I have recently secure a lawyer for my bank loan with cheaper legal fees...
What have shocked me was the S&P Lawyer assigned by the developer previously told me that he is giving me 60% discount on legal fees as the unit that I bought was released from the Bumi Lots...NOW, when I had completed securing a lawyer for bank loan, the S&P lawyer told me that he will charged me 100% legal fees with no discount as I am not using his services on bank loan! He claimed that the other lawyer will have "problems" dealing with the developer and caused the bank loan to be released late!

PLEASE HELP...WHAT SHOULD I DO???

You sure the discount is because it's bumi lot? Not the 'discount/rebate' by lawyer?
If there is discount because it's bumi lot, no way the lawyer can reject to give discount for others reason. Especially for the reason in this case.

I think you should ask the developer about the discount things. Or you can try contact your loan lawyer regarding this issue.

the developer won't know anything about this. the lawyer expect or ASSUME the buyer will use them for S&P and loan legal fees, that's why the lawyer told you upfront about the discount.

it is not because of bumi lot or any shit. in penang, even a subsale or refinance case can get discount 40% - 60% from the S&P if you use the same lawyer for loan agreement.

But the problem is the S&P lawyer told TS that he get discount because of bumi lot. Didn't tell that discount is given if TS use them as loan lawyer. If TS know discount is given only because of that, i'm sure TS will assign the loan aggreement back to the S&P lawyer too. (Who don't like discount in this world )

Yeah...you're RIGHT! In this situation, the lawyer is regarded as tricky. The developer informed the lawyer that I am not using their service, thus the lawyer called me up for clarification then...
