On the last firmware, after I did a hard reset on my phone, I had a free memory of 55mb on my C drive.
I wonder how much memory will I be having after installing this update. EDIT : I can't update via the NSU cause Windows 7 is not supported yet! This post has been edited by mannquin: Oct 29 2009, 12:38 AM |

Wow, I could hear so many complaints. I've been using my n97 since a week after it was launched. It was amongst the first batch I believe. Days after that I applied Bodyguardz on it, and sold the pouch. Been using it without any special care, and it has been taken in and out of my jean's pockets. Until now it doesn't show any kind of defects. It still remains intact. I even peeled the bodyguardz around its chrome and it's still there, unlike iPhone, the chrome peeled off along with the protector when it's removed. This really makes me wonder how harsh you guys treat your phone? I thought I had treated it bad enough. The only thing that I don't like about this phone is its GPS. It sucks big time! Other than that, I think it's a fair phone.

Pictures taken in dark are so fugly, the flash doesn't seem to be well spread, only a side experiences changes in light intensity.
Am I the only one who's having such a problem? |

What I can say is, this phone is beautiful. edit : So pissed off with the treatment receive for being an owner of an original n97 black coded with this number , 0586199 waited hell long enough and until now still no update available. The earliest to buy yet the last to be served. This post has been edited by mannquin: Jan 2 2010, 12:27 AM |

Kinetic scrolling indeed, it's now not limited only while browsing, it's now everywhere. That's what everyone has been waiting for.
Hmm what else? Some of the interfaces had become user friendlier This post has been edited by mannquin: Jan 3 2010, 07:28 AM |

Spend some money to purchase it, or do a hard format every 15 days!

Hey guys, I was browsing the internet and these are what I found. Try it out as many people had reported the methods work.
1) Flash-flooded problem - Get a marker, then draw some lines around the camera flash. (I can't post a picture right now as it's already 4 a.m and im so sleepy) 2) GPS antenna issues - Take off the back cover, and on the left side of around your lens (where the antennas(or maybe just 1 antenna) are located, gently apply some pressure, then run the map program. Let me know if it works. It might be caused by the glue Nokia applied in between the sticker-like thing and the body, the antenna lies between them. The glue isn't strong enough to get the antenna fixed in position and get in contact with the yellow metal thing as reported by some users. -The other method is, call NCC and ask them whether or not the new back cover has arrived. From what I read, the the gps issues might be caused by some interference as well. The new back cover has insulating foam fitted to inside of phone to stop solve this problem. Besides, the lens cover damages the lens itself is fixed with this new cover. You should notice the difference between the old cover and the new back cover from the color of the so called a cleaner (underneath the lens cover). It should be in some other color other than blue. Can someone please inquire NCC about these issues as I'm currently not in Malaysia. I was about to switch to iPhone 3gs until I found these solutions. This phone isn't the greatest, but still, i believe it isn't that useless. Added on January 17, 2010, 5:13 pmAbout replacing the back cover with a new model, many people have done this and they reported it turns the frown upside down! QUOTE(jerm @ Jan 18 2010, 12:50 AM) NCC is required to fix these problems, do not attempt to do anything by yourself thus voiding your warranty.. Does scribbling your phone void the warranty? LOL, you're funny manalso, the gps antenna is located at the bottom part of the battery compartment, not near the lens area this will happen when you connect your phone in 'File Transfer Mode', best is to not use that mode. for now its sms for you, but if you have emails etc, it'll screw things up pretty quick sagaman, programs that come with the phone pre-installed (not to be confused with installed on first use) cannot be removed. task manager will not show it. e.g. pdf, quickoffice. to move a program from one folder to another is Options -> Edit, then click on the icon and move to folder <...> And don't simply make a statement without doing any research, the GPS antenna is indeed located right next to your lens. Added on January 18, 2010, 1:15 am QUOTE(BuFung @ Jan 17 2010, 07:35 PM) the lens cover(cleaner) inside are still blue.. in my new cover... Damn, I never get my gps locked, especially while moving. Sounds like you've already using the upgraded version of the back cover. Many people mentioned it's a bit tilted you can even see a gap between the lens cover and the lensbut.. the cleaner no longer do the cleaning job.. it lift higher and didnt contact with the lens surface like before anymore.. my GPS is bloody strong.. u guy encouter some problem?? I still receiving GPR signal while inside the house, top floor with roof tile/zink/plaster ceiling... not near to window at all.. still can detect gps signal... Added on January 18, 2010, 1:28 am QUOTE(PyOsE @ Jan 17 2010, 10:12 PM) kinda same problem but different..everytime i disconnect my N97 from PC, a message will pop out "Unable to access selected memory, phone memory will be used". So when i go to inbox, the SMS will be gone. I have to go setting--->other---->memory in use--->mass memory. then i got my SMS back...lol Yes it works , here`s the link to the videoAdded on January 17, 2010, 10:46 pm damn..marker doesn't work..still got flash flood picture By the way these are methods for those who are not able to claim their warranty for some issues, like too far away from NCC Flash Flooding Quick Fix This post has been edited by mannquin: Jan 18 2010, 03:58 AM |

What's next? Google Nexus One perhaps?
I hate this phone for 3 reasons. 1)Its slowness 2)Its flash flooded camera ( + the lens cover scratching ability! ) 3)Its forever never lock GPS I wish Nokia could replace my N97 and give a new one for free. Only then I'll again have faith in them. Would people buy mine if I sell it for RM1400? It's an Avaxx set, bought in late August This post has been edited by mannquin: Jan 29 2010, 12:52 PM |

QUOTE(hebe87 @ Jan 29 2010, 02:04 PM) hi, i have a question here. i planning to change my message memory from phone memory to mass memory. however, once i changed to mass memory, my old msg gone, unless i changed it back to phone memory. There's is a way but I can't really remember the steps. It involves having a File Explorer on your phone, deleting a registry on your memory card, then try switching it again.can i copy the message from phone memory to mass memory? how? A message "Copy messages to memory card?" will appear. The concept is the same as copying it to mass memory instead of memory card. Google up the methods. OR the simplest way, format your mass memory. Then try changing the memory used. It should work |

QUOTE(jerm @ Jan 29 2010, 03:06 PM) does anyone know if there's any official communication on the gps antenna fix for the n97? i'm constantly getting low reception and accuracy is on average 50++ metres I already replaced it twice at the NCC, now I won't be able to get it replaced anymore as I won't be back in Msia for another 2 years. I wish I could find a buyer who trusts me helluva much,Added on January 29, 2010, 3:10 pmmannquinn i think you can get the camera replaced at ncc, right? it should be, as its a design flaw and since almost every other country does the change for free, i dont see how nokia msia is any different (but then, m'sia boleh). i called ncc earlier today and asked about gps antenna fix, as usual they dont know anything. called up nokia care malaysia and they are also ignorant about it. seriously a wtf moment there when the rest of the world is doing it, and here they're not even in the know of what's going on. and I'll ship out this phone. Too bad people here don't really have the guts to buy phones without any warranty |

Why did they change the default theme?! This is madness, the current color now is effing ugly. Did a hard reset and feels no improvement at all.
Yeah, finally I feel certain to ditch N97, my phone is now up for sale! RM1.4k only, gimme a pm. Kthxbai |

I haven't used my N97 for quite a while.
Yesterday I turned it on and used it as an alarm. But then, I woke up not because of its built in function. What woke me up was the heat that came from the phone. I've no idea what's going on I quickly threw it off the bed. I hold the menu button and only 3 widgets are running. I bought it in August last year and this problem never happened before. Plus sometimes the backlight isn't turning off, until I need to manually switch it off and on it again. Have any of you guys experienced these problems?
