Hi all,

I had had no luck using NSS to change my product code (tried many times when waiting for v12 firmware). sad.gif
NSS just can't display my code at all...

Can anyone suggest alternate way to change my product code?

I found this JAF and Emulator method, but haven't tried it yet~ anyone had any good experience with this?

Lastly, anyone recommend a good product code that I should use?

I'm using Black N97 original product code of: 0586199

Thank you in advanced... smile.gif

Please make sure that u switch off OVI and pc suite.
unplug the cable and replug again, select pc suite mode even though that your pc suite is off from pc.
then start NSS and click read.
when u wanna write it, click on enable button.
*
Lol.... actually tried many different combination of ways~ but still no luck...
People said I can try remove every trace of PC Suite (I'm using PC Suite instead of Ovi Suite) and all cable drive...
But I'm too lazy to do all these and afraid could make my Windows go crazy... laugh.gif

Anyway, thank you for help~! icon_rolleyes.gif

Can't take it anymore as I don't know when will my product code (0586199) have the update~
Some people said "rather wait till 31st Oct" but hey, Nokia never promised the rest of us will get it on 31st Oct...
Maybe few more weeks like v12 did?

Lastly, does anyone have any idea what's the different between 20.0.019 and 20.0.011, 20.0.026 etc...?

The download speed is very fast... nod.gif

To those of you that change the product code to update the firware to v2.0, did u guys change back to original product code after the update? or just let it be?  sweat.gif
*
I did not change my product code back after the update.
But I think tonight I'm gonna try it because I was thinking whether I can use the original product code to revert back to v12 firmware... lol... sweat.gif
I know this sound stupid... but I have some issue with the v20 firmware...

Last night when I've done updating, I check my phone, I did a few restart just to make sure everything is fine...
Then... I got stuck at the famous "White screen of dead"...!!! blink.gif
Yes, my HelloOX is gone as well~ vmad.gif
I never had this "white screen of dead" issue the time I bought the phone,
then updated to v11 firmware, then updated to v12 firmware... never happen... but it happen on the 2nd reboot with v20! shakehead.gif

Luckily I did those test... otherwise if it hang at this time, how am I going to work?
Luckily it happened so soon so that I still have a very recent backup to restore...

So, I am now using a freshly formatted v20 device.
My impression with this firmware are:

I like:
Although the flick-scrolling is cool, but I would say it is useful for me than "cool".

The QWERTY keyboard's long-press to enter alternate characters is very useful and convenient for me too~

I hate:
Web surfing with default browser is laggy... (hey, I already hard reset the phone!)

This morning, my alarm clock rang... I couldn't stop the alarm because the screen is black/blank!!! Can't unlock, can't shutdown, can't do anything... I removed the battery then switch it back to ON... (hey, I already hard reset the phone!)

Well, those are my first day's impression with the v20 firmware... blush.gif

It's a good news to me if I can't revert back to v12 firmware after I change the product code back to original... will try it tonight~

So glad to hear that your OX still there... thumbup.gif
Anyway, all other applications are now intact on my phone because I did a full backup before the update... sweat.gif

Thank you for the search link... smile.gif

Actually I did a search for this last night, still looking for a good guide showing how to downgrade and whether N97 can do downgrade?

But instead of guides, I did found a lot of people said downgrade firmware is a bad move, not encourage and can brick the phone... ohmy.gif

I am worrying and hesitate whether to do downgrading...

I also found JAF is so powerful that can bring bricked phone back to life..?!?! blink.gif

Still considering whether to do take the risk~? hmm.gif

hi guys, as far as i know, changing the product code will void warranty. What if after i update the firmware and change back to my original product code again? Do my warranty still valid if i bring my phone to NSC?? And will this brick my phone or affect my phone in the next update in the future? Thanks..
*
I just read from other random forums talking about this product code void warranty issue...

They said not the phone logged all code change that will show to NSC, but instead,
after you changed the product code and you connect it to NSU,
those information is then submit to Nokia's server... which is quite logical... and scary~ shocking.gif

Hi guys, i had subscribed to MAXIS 3G and changed my SIM card from hotlink to postpaid.
However I cant connect to 3G when i switch to either UMTS or dual mode instead of GSM.
Why there is still no packet data?????  cry.gif  (Even @ jalan Ampang??)
*
For packet data, you need to activate before you can start using it~ biggrin.gif
Dial *133# then press the Call (green) key to activate it, if I remember it correctly~ sweat.gif

i can only boot up when i have to hard reset it. after hard reset it can i re-install the firmware. i think the firmware is corrupt.

i'm forever stucked at the logo....aiya....so troublesome to drive to bangsar nokia centre.. damn jamm there.

no one encounter this problem?
*
I suspect your previous backup included an "installer" package in your E: drive (E:\Installs if not mistaken),
so that whenever you restore and reboot, it will try to finish the installation...

You can try selectively restore only the most important files such as contacts, messages etc...
Or maybe, do you have an even earlier backup to restore?

This is why we like to hack our phone so that we can access to all the folders, thus correcting problems...
I had once copied and moving my picture folders and cause the photo viewer to display duplicate copy of thumbnails and broken thumbnails...
Luckily I hacked my phone last time so that I can access the "protected folder" and delete the thumbnail cache...

But now, I lost the hacked capability due to a hard reset caused by freeze screen (hang at NOKIA logo startup screen) sad.gif

P/S: when your phone startup, it will scan for your mass storage (E: drive) or additional memory card for installed application.
This is why after formatting drive C:, your applications that was installed in drive E: will still shows up automatically.
If you have corrupted application or installer in there, that will cause you problem.

Menu -> Settings -> Phone -> Notification lights -> Standby br. light = On/Off

When firmware v12, it is called "Breathing light".

[PLS HELP]

How do I stop my N97 from using Maxis 3G Internet? I want to connect using my home wifi. How do I delete it?
*
You can go to [Settings] -> [Connectivity] -> [Destinations] -> [Internet] and change your Maxis 3G Internet to the lowest priority (bring it to the bottommost). smile.gif
This way, the phone will only use it when it can't find your home WLAN connection...

my phone have hung at nokia white screen 3 times within a week.... moreover my software is already v20....
sigh.... fedup with the phone.... really not reliable at all... it hung on me when i was needing it the most....
*
I was surprise and wondering why I never had any problem many people are facing here.
What is phone hang? How it happened? How those strange problem look like?
But that was history, that was in v12 firmware.

After I updated to v20, the phone hang at my 2nd reboot (yes, I reboot the phone to make sure everything ok). Have to did that 4-buttons reset trick!
After some time of using, still having unstable here and there, but I can tolerate that.

Last 2~3 weeks, the phone again, hang at NOKIA logo screen when I try to reboot it.
Yes I reboot the phone to refresh it quite often, but don't tell me the phone I bought should not perform frequent reboot.

This time I does not perform any reset because I did a lot of test and found it sometimes can boot up.
Sometimes it boots up after I remove the battery for 5 to 10 minutes.
Sometimes it boots when I slide open the QWERTY keyboard (weird?).

Until last week, I cannot tolerate this anymore...!
It hang again, and I did the 4-button reset again, finally!

Now my phone can be reboot anytime after so much hard work (this is really a joke!).

Now, another problems surfaced...

Occasionally, when I open the lens cover, the camera application never launch, the phone screen goes black (blank).
Cannot use the camera when I really want to, I must reboot the phone to get it working back!
Who willing to pose for me, then wait for me to reboot my phone before I can snap a picture of them?

Another problem, only happen occasionally as well...

When I long press the [0] button to start web browsing, the Call Log application also start~?!?!?!
What is that? I have to close the Call Log each time I close the browser!
This is the same, a reboot solve it temporary.

My friend saw my phone and said: "Wow your phone so cool~!"
I tell them "Never try to get one or you will regret..." then I start tell them my bad experiences.

If I remember correctly, this is most expensive Nokia phone that I ever bought.
But I will never forget this is the worst Nokia phone that I've ever bought!
I'm not sure what is my next phone, but I really would like to quit being a Nokia phone owner... I'm tired~ I had enough of all these~!

ok..thanks. now my bugs are all gone. all broken link photos already removed.
*
I had this problem before when last time I moves around my picture folder to organize the folder structure.
Then the broken thumbnails were duplicated... how stupid the software.

That's why I always feels a hacked phone is very convenient.
I just need to delete the file E:\Private\101ffc31\glxmdstn and and thumbnails were reset, it will rebuild a new set of thumbnail cache.

Now with v20, I cannot hack my phone anymore, how sad~!
If the phone doesn't have so many bugs, I can live with an unhacked phone, but Nokia's firmware... shakehead.gif Damn~!

Do you all have this problem.
When your phone crash or hang. Then you will take out your batt to restart it.
It will stay at the Nokia White screen....
I cant start my phone. Everytime i need to hard reset it. Damn it....
Anyone have this prob also?
It happenned once i install v20.
*
I have EXACTLY the same problem, at least up to one point - all these happens after updated to v20 firmware.

But my problem wasn't phone hang then take out battery to restart,
my phone doesn't hang, I merely reboot the phone, then, if I'm in bad luck,
the phone will stuck at the Nokia screen!

My phone never had this stuck at Nokia screen issue while I was in firmware v10, v11, v12...!!!

Until now I already memorized the four-fingers-power-on-reset trick.

I already had this issue many many times since v20 firmware, the main reason still known.
I just had the problem TWICE in this week.
I come in here looking around for any new solution or tips because this happen strikes again just now!

After many attempts, I can managed to get it to boot up.
Sometimes remove the SIM card, sometimes changed to other SIM card (all are Maxis postpaid)
Sometimes many tries, it can boot up.
I have no specific way to make it boot, just try whatever I can think of.
I only did the hard reset in the last attempt that I have no more idea to test it.

I will try reformat the Mass Memory this time to see if it will happen again!
