Hi NickyEng, by looking at the layout and icon position, I'm afraid the one you're using is not the latest v3.03

Anyone really get the compass to work most of the time?
Mine does not work most of the time! shakehead.gif
After waving the phone as stated in the user manual,
sometimes it would work, but most of the time it just failed! mad.gif

This is my old problem since the older version of Nokia Maps v2.
From the older v10 firmware until the current v20!
Very disappointed! shakehead.gif

Do you see any green bar here on your map?
If there are green bars, meaning your phone already acquired GPS signal.

Nice find PyOsE, I noticed a portion of text that even more confirmed my case to deal with WSOD was real...

QUOTE
Backups before updating your Nokia N97 are not essential, but to help you get the most from your new software,
we recommend that you sync your device or make a backup excluding settings before updating.

As you can see from above, the backup of "Settings" from previous firmware should not restore on top of newer firmware.
That's why since I discarded the restoration of "Settings", I never had any WSOD at all until now and the phone is stable. smile.gif

I never denied I edited my photos, and the IMG extension can be set in Camera Settings to replace the original file naming (numbering) which confuse me on sorting files.

Maybe you forgotten to revert back to the original product code (instead you still thinking you're using the original product code). Why don't you check back your product code again?
*
Yes Leo, my original code was 0586199,
I changed to 0576119
after update to v20, I changed it back to original 0586199... sweat.gif

Maybe what I did was too exaggerated? blush.gif

I actually backup everything, then manually copy everything from Mass Memory...
Then I format Mass Memory, shut down the phone then do 4-buttons hard-reset...
Update firmware...
Final 4-buttons hard-reset...

... so wish to get a fresh system... laugh.gif

Hi PyOsE, did you hard-reset your phone after the v21 update?
If you do, meaning you lost your hack already?
Come here, dare to try this new hack? : http://forum.dailymobile.se/index.php/topic,17305.0.html
I am too chicken to try it, maybe wait until I really need the hack... blush.gif

Hacking a phone not necessarily only for installing cracked pirated software... smile.gif

Even if someone want to "tryout" some application/games before purchase,
for certain cracked applications/games won't install even if you signed it,
unless you sign it with a 20-cap cert.

Sometimes when the phone acted weird and you don't want to hard-reset it every time,
you actually have the capability to browse to the protected folders and files if the phone is hacked,
example 1: delete the "mail" folder make the phone ask you again whether to copy or move your msg to the new location (when you set from C: to E: or vice versa)
example 2: we can delete corrupted image thumbnail cache so the system will rebuild one automatically instead of continue using the corrupted one.

it is something like making changes to Windows' Registry, just like for somebody, they will gone mad if we don't have access to System Registry, C:\Windows and System32 folder etc...
like some user hack their Windows so that they can use third-party visual style (Windows theme) etc...

Another thing we need to hack the phone is to make customization or modding...
the most amazing thing people doing is the fantastic transition effect~!

I understand not everybody interested in doing the above stuffs,
this is just for certain users' interest/hobby to customize things they bought.

yay done updating to the latest firmware and hard reset it...

anyway i din notice any difference though...only the background change to black color only erm...

Another thing, when you enter text with the virtual keypad (phone in portrait mode),
the text field background is now white (last time is gray or black)... laugh.gif

how a?

I think this error message said "are you using a USB Hub to connect your phone to the PC?"...

I would try use the original USB cable, in case you are using the normal cable from other computer shop.
I would also try connect the phone and PC directly without a USB Hub, if you're not using any USB Hub, try change to other USB port, probably the one at the back of the CPU casing. biggrin.gif

If it still failed and nothing more you can do,
why not hard-reset and then try update again? smile.gif

people change product code just for update to the latest firmware (include me... laugh.gif )...
so if you do a hard-reset to get the latest firmware, this isn't any strange... nod.gif

i just updated my phone to v21 but havent hard reset yet
having 2nd thought on hard reset
did backup, later if i restore back, are all the application installed b4 hard reset will be restored as well?
i have installed alot of 3rd applications wei, scared of losing it all
*
If you also choose to backup "user files" from phone memory and mass memory,
I believe you will get it back after restore...
But remember do not restore your "Settings" from v20 to this new firmware.
I had issue (stuck at Nokia logo screen when power on) when restore my v12 "Settings" over v20 firmware,
tried many times (hard reset a lot of time due to unable to boot up) only found out the culprit.
Nokia people also mentioned "backup exclude Settings..." you can see it a few page back... smile.gif
