Yes, N900 is better in term of spec and usability. But feature wise, N97 have more application available then n900 and currently n900 only works on landscape mode (mostly). N900 is thicker and heavier then N97 as well. So choose. =)

According to N97 Forum from Facebook, there will be a firmware update for N97 (Firmware v3.0 as mentioned). Refer to the picture below
