I never measure the width, not sure about it, not too narrow though. An adult can play the guitalele without any problem. The fret to fret distance is smaller than regular guitar which is good for small hands. It's a quarter size guitar. I manage to find a picture, you can compare the guitalele and a full size acoustic guitar.

What a cute guitar!

Seeing a small kid holding up such guitar would be a very "awwwwww" sight.

Guys.

Is it important to include my pinky during fingerpicking?

Or without the pinky would be great enough?

I don't think people actually use pinky in fingerpicking, just pressing the fret.
*
For real?

I mean, thumbs for the two basses (Low E and A)

Index finger for D

Middle for G

Ring finger for B

Pinky for high E

Or is this a wrong technique?

well,
usually just use pima,
thumb for EAD and so on..
*
So including a pinky would be unconventional and impractical? hmm.gif

Yes, but I know a guitarist who hurt his ring finger then train his pinky to replace it. so unless you got no choice just use ima for plucking.
*
But I got this tab that hav me pluck string E and D simultaneously. How so?

I think you refer to the last 2 bar ? play two F octave apart?

Just remember your right hand fingers can move up and down, you can use any fingers to pluck any strings but you need a good sense of judgment to do it properly and effectively.

For you case, just use p and i for these two notes.

Can you read notes? if not I suggest you learn it. did you take any lessons? if not, I strongly suggest you do, it will help you alot especially this elementary problems of yours. smile.gif

I just want to recommend a guitar to you guys. A friend of mine has been using the Yamaha CPX700 for quite a while and it sounds really good. It's a medium sized acoustic with pickups and the body has a cutaway. It's isn't very loud on it's own and the sound well, you've got to hear it yourself.
*
Tried it in store few times. I guess that particular model is more suitable for recording stuff right?

I don't know about recording or playing as a band with the guitar plugged into an amp, because I've never heard it used that way before., But it sounds nice when it's played in a small gathering on it's own. I guess the sound is bright and clear. I don't think it will go well with other instruments and the lower notes are definitely on the weak side. It does however have a very long sustain, and I believe my friend is still using the stock strings.
*
Yeah we're in the same boat regarding the sound. It's undoubtedly bright and lesser bass. But I'm kinda a basshead so I'm more into dreadnoughts. biggrin.gif
But that's just me. Everyone has their very own preference. smile.gif

The guitar I have is also from Yamaha, forgot the model cause it's not with me now. It's a dreadnought, sounds nice for strumming but I actually bought for finger picking because the was the first time I bought an acoustic. Planning to change them to silk and steel if I can ship the guitar over. I can't find silk and steel in Malaysia at all.

My lovely guitar, too bad it's in Malaysia now, can't play it. Can't see the model from the picture also

Silk and steel string. Strings made with a silk core and coated or coiled with a metal alloy.
*
That sounds exclusive. Wonder how much a set costs.

BTW that Yamaha looks good. Ebony fretboard?

Guys, which are better between these two capos?

Kyser slider capo, or Jim Dunlop trigger capo?

In term of functionality, flexibility, and durability, which one is better?

Or just an Alice trigger capo (RM20) will do?

Of cos Jim Dunlop. Built with hard material. Not easy to break. But it's the most expensive among all other brands, around rm60. I bought mine in singapore for S$20.

Can it be used to fret certain strings only? eg: GBE only without EAD.
