The number of population in this world are increasing with advance in medical technology bringing the death rate down and new lives are brought into this world everyday. While the Population can be controled by limiting the number of births, there is a nother issue that we face. Its the limited area of land that our world have. Dead will fight with the living for burial grounds. It doesnt go away after they die because we still use up land for the dead. Imagine after a century pass, and billions of people who died, used up lands for graveyard. The best way would be to cremate the body and scatter the ashes into the sea and land. This will free up space used for graveyard but it comes to the question of believe and culture. Some people want to have a tombstone for their coming generations to pay respect to like how we pay respect to our ancestors. DO you guys think this will be a problem in the future?

definitely. depending on religion, most ppl will buried their dead. and when the price of the land keep increasing.... there will b request for the land to b use for development. those buried there will b transfer to another cheaper land it kind of remind me of an advertisement i saw in tv where they ask u to purchase a land for your own burial ground in advance land r getting more and more valuable especially in kl.

Yes but there will come a time where there is no more cheap lands because the number of dead people increase and accumuluate if we continue burying the dead. We should start awareness for people to cremate after they die for future development

There is a real life case study for this exact scenario. You need to only look at Singapore. Regarding the question whether we will run out of space because of land for cemeteries, I think not.

This will definitely turn into a religious criteria of the issue involved. Because different
religions have their own way in burial of the dead. But i have to say, burning the dead
that would remain as ashes would be a more logical way if space is limited due to
urbanisation. But then again, it would disrupt the whole religion beliefs of others.

I myself do like the thought of being cremated when I die. Am not one for enclosed spaces But like the others highlighted, it has to do with religious purposes and family preferences. It would be highly rude and insulting to make it a must to do so.

Alot of times especially modern life situation where religious believes and the situation clashes with each other. Myself, before this I thought it will be good to be buried together with my families and ancestors. But after looking at the wide space and hills used for cemetery, this question came to my mind. Its not a problem now, but what about the future? The space doesnt get renewed. The dead will stay there and new cemetery will come up for 'newly dead'. My great gandfather still has his cemetery there after 100+ yrs. Now, my mindset changed that after I die, it would be better to scatter my ashes into the sea.

I think the government might need to think of wat to do which those abandoned 1.

Yup. Abandoned cemeteries maybe is because the decendents (dunno how to spell) dont even know who their ancestors are and lost touch. The cemeteries become no meaning and just hogging the land. For me, I only know until my granfather.

Mausoleums. Reminds me of the game Gears of War. Played thousands of rounds
of multiplayer matches over with my friends. Good times.

Then mausoleum is the best solution? But isnt it the same as cemetery since u need to bury the body in the earth and not put on second floor or 3rd floor..

i foresee that in the future, we will have sky high buildings, only meant to keep dead people's ashes. the higher up your body is, the more prestigious, just like renting a penthouse. it will be a new way of making money. this is just a naive girl's opinion though

A population that has lost the desire to reproduce is also one that has lost the will to survive. Burial space is however not the most pressing issue that humans will face due to a population boom. The earth's resources are finite, while our capacity for reproduction is not - and in fact has to be kept that way if humanity as a whole is to have the genetic vigor to survive catastrophes and extinction level events. The problems of the future will be far darker than anyone has imagined. I foresee Malaysia becoming more like Indonesia and the Philippines in the future.

you bury a person in the ground for long enough, they'd turn into fossil fuel to fill your motocars.
