Before you can go about improving, you need to know if there are any problems with ur room at all. I would suggest if you really want to know what to improve, you get some frequency charts, waterfall charts and spectral decay. This way, you can attack the problem. For all u may know, it might be pretty good. Or at least let us know where ur problems are at the moment...Bass too boomy, losing stereo imaging, music too bright? it's a living room - and generally is heavily subjected to WAF
i think basic home decor can help start it off - the idea is to break up flat surfaces as much as you can, so
- cloth covering for the glass coffee table (this is a major culprit) - rug directly in front of TV - bookshelf / display cases sides and behind
will help break up first reflections
after decorating the living room, then try and get charts

QUOTE(arremie @ Oct 29 2009, 05:51 PM) Bro, I am surprised by your question Or too much of 'WTF' input Not easy to do acoustic treatment. Like anfieldude mentioned, you need to know the problem first. This way saves a lot of pain and unnecessary treatment or treating the wrong area. My setup was initially at my living area. IIRC, it sld be about 26' x 20' with big open area leading to dining and a smaller opening to kitchen. Not easy considering WAF. So, ended up moving to one of the rooms upstair when HM gave the green light. The move was a quick one in case Hm change her mind

The challenge with acoustics is trying to balance it with aesthetics.
That's why I also haven't seriously looked into it for fear of upsetting the current aesthetics. I'm also not keen to have too many panels hanging all over the place.
