I want to know about any device that compatible with Android.

1. ---- Is it possible to format the device just like our PC? Then make a fresh installation of Android?

For example, I want to format the HTC Hero and get the latest Android 1.6 (codename Donut) installed.

Is this possible?

2. ---- What about the update from the telco? Is it free?

3. ---- Is there any chance for me to unlock any Android device which attach to any telco. E.g HTC Hero now is attached to Celcom. So... any chance?

eh eh hanief from malaysianews? lol great job on those vids wink.gif

1. yes its known as rooting. u can root it as when u want with different mod roms that are available outside such as cyanogen or modaco. these roms are quite updated and most of them are already running on Android 1.6. but u gotta read and understand the risk of rooting first before doing it.

2. update from telco? i believe the first Magic was locked from Celcom but thereafter there isnt if i'm not wrong. i bought my tattoo that runs on donut without any sim lock...

3. yes rooting also does the sim unlock + u'll be getting the android market app out...

So far...haven't heard of such thing call "Sim Lock" in Android.

So do whatever you like...that's the fun of having an Android.

dont think that tattoo will hit the developer as it will not optimized for android future sdk (eg. pinch and zoom aka multitouch)
