I'm interesting in investing in power racks for my home gym.

I live in KL and sometimes I visit my kampung in Penang.

Or if you know of a friend or relative with a metalworking shop, have it custom made.

2k for a rack is pretty good value, but then again, the quality might be an issue

If you are in Penang, there is a place called Olympic (opposite CRC & near Gleneagles hospital )
They have a power rack there (ready stock). If I am not mistaken, its around Rm1.5k-Rm2k

but these ppl set-up gyms, u wana ask them bring in 1 power rack for u...
don't be surprise if they quote u more than 5K just for the rack...

the DHgym claims that they manufacture locally, but last time i call them,
already quote a few K... somemore not locally made.

if u can find mass produced gym stuff frm china, like those sold in carefour,
then it will be cheap...

other wise will have to look for a welder to do the job..

1. basic (2k-3k
2. medium range(3k-5k)
3.high range( 5k-8K)

i live in condo and work out in commercial gym.
i use an inclining bench press rack to rack bar for squat & overhead press, not ideal but with a gym buddy i get by.
i guess you can show the blue print around and shop for the lowest offer, just make sure it is built sturdy enough though.

also, if you do heavy squat, snatch, etc, u probably need a good platform built too.
you can go to http://startingstrength.com to look for it. the blueprint is hidden somewhere.

i had it quoted for 1.5k from a local welder, with plans ive gotten from google.

took me like, 30 mins? didnt go through with it as i found a gym with cheap(er) monthly fee so i didnt need to make a home gym after all.

I've googled and seen many plans for power cages over the months... from wood to metal. Just haven't met anyone who's got one made yet!

actually come to think about it it was less than that. why would you need to get reviews before doing it? just go to a welder/steel shop with the plans and ask for a quote. so long as its sturdy enough to not crash on you when you're inside it then its fine, right?

Reviews? No I just googled for plans. Haven't gotten round to looking for a welder, so when pleowcw said something about having it made locally I just asked.

I exchanged messages with zzGamerz. He was supposed to get back to me with pics of the actual power rack that he owns, but he hasn't replied me since December. The pic that he has put on his ad in Lowyat, and a pic which he sent me in a message were both different, and copied from the internet! That's why I asked him for a pic of the ACTUAL power rack.

I guess he's busy, or something.

Erm, hi, I am also looking for a power rack, which fitness concept did you go to? I went to the Sunway Pyramid one and they quote me 2.9k for body-solid one.
