Why the Alliance debit card need to charge Rm12 annual fee?
I own 2 atm cards now and I don't need to pay any annual fees. So, I feel like paying fees is like milking us. Read what I think of banks charging us annual atm fees. Anyway, to cut my credit card to save RM50. Then apply debit card, have to pay Rm12 annual fee. Net effect only save RM38. Are there any debit cards with high rebates, and don't charge annual fees? |

QUOTE(truelife @ Nov 13 2009, 03:52 PM) alliance "platinum" debit card is different from "premium" debit card la. only those deposit 200k can become Priviledge customer and get the premium debit card to enjoy 2% rebate. 1.5% rebate is for platinum debit card.. If take a RM200k loan from Alliance Bank, then can become privilege customer or not? |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Nov 20 2009, 08:19 PM) I have two Public Bank savings account. One is PLUS Savings Account and another one a Basic Savings Account. But, I thought the thief would need to key in the PIN in order for the charge on the debit card to go through?PLUS Savings Account is my first and original account with Public Bank. Shortly after i converted my Public Bank ATM card to Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card, i opened a Basic Savings Account and moved most of my money in my PLUS Savings Account to this account. This is to limit my exposure in case someone steal my Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card and simply charge anything into it. The Basic Savings Account comes with an annual fee free MEPS ATM card (the old blue color card) and i am allowed to withdraw cash over any Public Bank ATM 8 times a month and for each subsequent withdrawal i'll be charged RM1. But i do not have to worry this as once i have hit the 8 times free withdrawals limit in a month, i can simply transfer the money through e-banking from my Basic Savings Account to my PLUS Savings Account and withdraw it from there When i opened the Basic Savings Account a few months ago, i was asked if i want to link it to my existing Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card. I chose not to. Besides, it's not that i have to pay for the additional MEPS ATM card since it comes free with the Basic Savings Account anyway. For your information, linking several accounts to a single MEPS ATM card or Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card is only possible if the account holding branch for all the said accounts is from the same branch. By the way, you must also know that if you only have a Basic Savings Account or Basic Current Account with Public Bank, they will not be able to issue you the Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card. |

Applied the Alliance Platinum Debit Card today.
Like to 1.5% rebate. Hate the RM12 annual fee. And this fee is charged upfront. Deducted from me on the first day. Has anybody tried asking for waiver of annual fees on Debit Cards? |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Dec 16 2009, 05:15 PM) You can easily get your RM12 back if you're a big spender. RM12 is nothing really as most of us do pay RM8 for our ATM cards that do not offer us any kind of rewards or cash back scheme. If banks can waive the annual fee for Credit Cards, then why don't the banks waive the annual fees for Debit Card? |

I need a VISA card. So I can transfer money from my Paypal to my VISA card.
My criteria would be: 1. I don't want to pay the RM50 service charge. So it'd have to be a debit card,... unless the government waive the service charge during the upcoming budget. 2. Able to transfer money from my Visa Debit card to my savings account. 3. No annual fee if possible. 4. Good exchange rate when converting the I receive into my VISA card from USD to RM. Anybody can help/share their experience? After I get this VISA card, I will: 1. Cancel my Alliance Debit MC. Close savings account. 2. Cancel my HSBC VISA credit card...again, unless the Govt waive the service charge for next year. |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Oct 9 2010, 07:03 PM) Why do you still need a VISA branded card for Paypal fund withdrawal these days ? You can simply make a direct withdrawal to your local bank account. Because my Paypal account is in USD. I also withdraw in USD. If I withdraw to my local savings account, who will do the conversion? Paypal or my local bank? Not sure how's the exchange rate like but some of the most used cards are Public Bank VISA Electron, Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card and Maybank VISA debit card. But really, with direct withdrawal is now available for Malaysian Paypal users. You no longer rely solely on a VISA branded card anymore. Hmmm, just checked the Withdraw to local bank option and just realise there's no fee if withdrawing more than Rm400. Looks like this is a better deal, and I can cancel off my HSBC credit card.
