Option to increase spending limit for special occasions for debit cards (as in call card center temporary increase limit for the day).

$5k is not enough for any big expenditure. RHB you suck.

And if you're from RHB, ask them to reduce the annual charge for the Debit Card. Plus, be more as efficient as Maybank, balance can be seen deducted from account once the transaction has been completed, not like it will only be hold and deducted after two days.

Is this only RHB? cos RHB doesnt always work for online payment.

Also:
Does anyone know the spending limit for PBB Visa Electron? I cant find the information anywhere, Day2Day you can set up to 10k as stated on their brochures. Been on hold with PBB card center for 10 mins waiting for someone to pick up >.<

I am so switching tomorrow after I empty out my acct at RHB, and give them a scolding.

One thing good about RHB is prolly the call center haha. I can get them instantly anytime.

Their debit card annual fee is crazy. Public Bank has finally come to some senses that they decided to slashed the annual fee for their VISA debit card from RM12 to RM8. When EON Bank first introduced their combi debit MasterCard back in 2006, the annual fee was RM20 too but the response wasn't great and they finally decided to cut the annual fee to RM8. RHB Bank is the only one to cut their debit card annual fee from RM20 to RM15 and then increased it back to RM20 again. Way to go RHB BankĀ   doh.gif

Is the Day2Day card given for any acct you set up at PBB? cos I already have a Visa electron.

EDIT: okay I just checked rhb's website, which is partially broken (had to do view source to look for the info).

"<li>Set your own purchase limit up to available balance in account </li>"

what. the people at the bank said limit is 5k. wtf.

Don't think it is safe to set the maximum limit to up to available balance in account though. Imagine if this is your primary account and you have a lot of money in it. It simply is too risky.

"Up to available balance bla bla" disappointing. I'm leaving them.

Thanks "CHASE" you practically answered all the questions brought forward.

On the Day2Day card design: I wasnt in the development team for that stage.

Customer Service Issue: We do have peak periods, currently we are hiring more Officers to cater for the debit card boom. It will surely be sorted soon. Alternatively, kindly feel free to comment more.

good to hear PBB will improve on customer service, i'll be happy to switch.

as in like reward for using the card?

unless you stock enough quality redemption gifts (e.g. jusco card redemption or equivalent), cash back would be just easier. less work for you too.

Hey guys, can charge-back be done with debit card in case the card is being used to make online purchases unauthorizedly or fraudulently?

*
I'd like to know this as well.

Are we protected like Credit Card users are?

That's kinda stupid... definitely gonna keep a tiny amount of money on my PB Visa Electron then. Or switch to HLB. /sigh

What about calling us if they detect large expenditures to confirm it wasn't fraudulent? I think I'm gonna be disappointed in the answer.

Its weird that you call it VISA / MASTERCARD but don't get the same security blanket that comes with the name.

@byronong
PBB should extend credit card protection to debit card users. You can even advertise and people will flock to PBB.

feedback noted, will get further details on this.

But at any point, a cardmember should be responsible for his/her belongings.

For example, if you drop your wallet with RM1k cash, can you claim your RM1k lost from the government?
*
Its not about physically losing the card.

More in terms of use on the Internet, stuff happens. Like when vendors double, triple charging for something we bought. Or error in their billing system and randomly charging people.

For example, a few months ago, a MMO company charged its subscribers for 15-40 times when a billing error occurred. That's 40x USD $15. or 40x USD $45(3 months). or 40x USD$90 (6months). Someone people had 2 subscription on a single card. So family accounts were emptied to a point of overdrafting, those impacted hard had to loan money while the banks get all the funds returned (took a few weeks).

We need to be report these things as fraudulent billing and claim back our money. We need to be protected, even more so because its not on "credit" like credit cards are. No real danger, not till you have to pay that $5000 bill at the end of the month. With debit, money will be taken outta our accts.

Or, worse case scenario, our debit card info was stolen (electronically) and used to purchase stuff. Customer Service needs to flag huge spendings and notify us to confirm if we did spend all that money or if it was some thief doing it.
