For Public Bank, you need to be at least 12-year-old to be eligible for their debit card. Not very sure about Maybank but i suspect it is the same.
For Public Bank Day2Day VISA, the annual fee is RM12 but it does come with a pretty good cash back system. Maybank on the other hand, gives you an option not to pay annual fee but only comes with 4 FREE ATM cash withdrawals per month or RM8/pa for unlimited ATM withdrawal.

Public Bank does offer some annual fee free debit card such as Manchester United VISA debit card, UTAR debit Mastercard and TARC debit Mastercard. But for the Manchester United VISA debit card, you must swipe the card at least 12 times in a year to get the annual fee waived which i believe is a piece of cake right ?  biggrin.gif
For Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card and Maybank Cherry VISA debit card, the card will automatically become inactive once your savings account become dormant.

As for all other Public Bank series of debit card, you will need to properly cancel it by writing in or request for card cancellation at any Public Bank branch.

So if I need a "prepaid" style card (not linked to any account) for Paypal transaction, and I'm not 18 yet, I can choose Public Bank Visa Electron?
If so, how do I top up the money for Public Bank Visa Electron card?

Yes. You can. The annual fee for this card is RM24 but it will be automatically waived if you charge more than RM1000 into the card in one year.

If you already have a savings or current account with Public Bank, you can simply perform a fund transfer either via online banking or any Public Bank ATM. The other way is via PBB cash deposit machine.

Yes. You can. But i think a small number of branches in the rural areas still do not have cash deposit machine. Not a problem if you live in the city biggrin.gif

You have to wait for the 4 DIGIT to appear in your statement. Even if you can view your card's statement online, it still need at least 2-3 days to be appeared in your online statement.

In addition, if you don't have public bank account, but you do have account in other bank which provide Interbank GIRO transaction service, you can use the online banking of your bank to transfer the money into Public Bank Visa Electron card account. But, bear in mind that this will charge you RM2 and you need to allow at least 1 day for the amount to be debited to your card.

you should ask this in CC pinned thread. The is no bank offering true 0% installments but PB and CIMB do offer installment plans up to 24 months but there's a handling fees (upfront fee) of 2-4%. Go check their website for more info.

Usually for true 0% installments, it is offered by merchants e.g. Dell & Harvey Norman. And also before you commit into an installment plan advertised by merchants, do check out the street price of the item you wish to get and compare it to the amount you will end up paying with installment plans advertised by merchants (usually at RRP with no discount).

PB visa electron is not associated with any bank account. You just need to transfer the amount you need to spend into the card. For example, lets say you want to book air ticket which will cost you RM150 (just example), then instead of rush to the cash deposit machine to deposit RM150, you can use internet banking to transfer RM150 into your card.

But, remember, you must maintain minimum balance of RM25 in your card account. For example, you want to spend RM100, then your card account must have at least RM125. And, as I said before, transfer from other bank into your card need at least 1 day in advance, but transfer from public bank is instant.

PB visa electron is a card of it's own. Not attached to any account. You can only topup your card by ATM or counters..
PB visa day to day is linked to your PB savings account.

Yes, both can be used to verify Paypal.

Just wondering is there a time for the Maybank Visa Debit card to perform online transaction?
I am trying to purchase an app from iTunes and its 1.17am now..
Enabled the online transaction thing on mb2u already and this is the first time purchasing on itunes.
Edited: NVM it works now after i reenter the data and wait for a few minute before i try again. Thanks

This is regarding HLB Debit Card.

I just got my card, but is not given any pin number for the debit card.

I was in a hurry and forgot to ask them.

Is it they will send to my house the pin code ?

Thanks

May be you can go back to the branch and ask them to activate the card and issue you a PIN right away ? The PIN number for Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card and Maybank Cherry Platinum debit Mastercard/VISA debit card is given along with the card.
